Although I've reviewed Sako's several times before, and continue to order at least once a month, I want to give a special shoutout to the team at Sako's for the way they corrected a very small hiccup with a recent order. I was honestly so impressed with how they handled it. I got a call from the company apologizing, and a brand new pizza was delivered to me in literally less than 10 minutes. They even threw in a free brownie for the mixup. Tell me a chain store would EVER do this for a customer. This is by far how the standard should be set for customer service. 10/10. As to the Pizza: This is basic pizza, made at a Well Ran Sako's! The Pizza itself is your Fastfood-esque pizza (Dominos, Pizza Hut, lil Caesar's) so it gets a solid like 5.5/10 in the Pizza Universe. The owner and his partner are super polite and after numerous encounters I've now became a regular. My wife was craving a Sako salad and highly recommended we get pizza too. I ordered a sm onion, lg cheese and the Greek salad. When I entered the establishment, I shocked at size of sitting area. Our preference is local, family owned, really good food and Sako's checks all of the boxes. Our daughter decided to meet us for dinner here and as she was debating about what to order our food was brought out. She took one bite of my husband's gyro and said "oh, I need one of those for myself!" One of the owners came out and she said how amazing the sauce was and he confirmed that it was house made. I went with the Cobb salad which was chuck full of incredible goodness. The freshest avocado slices on top. Really a great salad and so large I took half for my lunch the next day! Finally got a chance to try this place Wednesday, about five months after it opened. I drive by often, and watched the building, which was formerly a donut shop, undergo extensive renovations. My coworker John and I each ordered a small pizza, and called our order ahead so the food would be ready when we arrived. There is plenty of parking, and the inside is bright and clean. Owner and staff were very friendly, and our pizzas were ready upon our arrival. I ordered a small mushroom and pepperoni pizza, which was very good; I especially liked that they used fresh mushrooms, not canned mushrooms - it makes a huge difference in taste, texture and appearance. Pepperoni was excellent also, and the pie was not greasy. Another plus: the slices were easy to handle, and the toppings did not slide off the crust. The only reason I did not give them 5 stars, though, was that I thought the crust was not on par with the rest of the pizza. I prefer a more crispy crust. Everything else, though, was superb, from the cleanliness of the dining area and kitchen, to the excellent service. Both an employee and owner asked how our pizzas were. In fact, the young-ish man who I presumed was the owner or co-owner, even came out from the kitchen and engaged us in an interesting conversation. As he pointed out, just because I didn't enjoy the crust as much as the rest of the pizza, doesn't mean it's a bad crust, because different people have different preferences. Someone else might like a less crispy crust (and, another benefit to a less-crispy crust: their pizza would be ideal if you had to eat slices in the car, since it does not make a mess), Since I had the owner's ear, I asked why they didn't just knock the old building down and build from the ground-up, because they put a lot of effort into the long renovation. As I suspected, it had a lot to do with zoning regulations, plus, it was less expensive to renovate the old structure, he said. Apparently, the old donut shop (Donut Bazar) was a big haven for Keno players, because he said he has had several people ask if he's going to put a Keno screen in the pizza restaurant. My crust preferences notwithstanding, the pizza was very good, and I would definitely return to this restaurant for more of their pizza, or perhaps a calzone, which other reviews have said are excellent. read more

Unfortunately everything I had from Sako's was just mediocre. A lot of it tasted like it was previously frozen, nothing fresh. The mozzarella sticks were extremely bland. Generic, previously frozen. The marinara for dipping them was awful so I couldn't even use it to mask the blandness of the mozzarella sticks. It's not as bad as chain/franchise pizza but I won't be back. I can name 4 other places in a two mile radius with homemade/hand tossed dough, flavorful sauce and fresh ingredients. You can also customize your freshly made Sako's calzone with any of their pizza toppings for 99 cents each. The spinach & feta calzones were a tad disappointing. While they say that their "house-made spinach" was "garlic-y and delicious," the filling was rather bland and definitely lacking on the garlic. But of course that's just my humble opinion. Other people rave about them! Appetizers at Sako's are a welcome change from other local pizza places as they include smoked gouda mac & cheese bites and Sako's Fries: Warm potato wedges topped with gooey cheese, crumbled bacon and Buff-A-Q sauce. Yum! Grinders, burgers and wraps are also on the menu as well as Caesar, Cobb, Greek and antipasto salads. And, of course, pizza. Something for everyone! This place rocks!! We tried the chicken fajita pizza and it was packed with chicken, vegetables and cheese and was absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked. Their chicken wings are scrumptious and remarkably meaty and large. The sweet chili ones were out of this world and the traditional buffalo ones were cooked to perfection. Really, really great. We also had their salad with avocado and bacon, which was a very generous serving and extremely fresh and well-prepared. Everyone loved it. We also really loved the potatoes with cheese and a piquant sauce -- cooked to perfection; there was not a bit left by the end of our meal. What a great place! This was my 1st time trying this place and I have to say the food was extremely good. We got 2 large pizzas one cheese pepperoni and extra sauce was amazing but didn't seem to have extra sauce. The 2nd was a Hawaiian pizza omfg it was so fresh and full of flavor bye fare the best one I have had but again forgot the extra sauce. My picky 2 year old that don't eat anything absolutely love the chicken fingers with sweet and sour sauce. They were nice and fresh clean batter. The lady that answer the phone and took my order was extremely helpful and nice. She had great manners. The delivery driver was fast and extremely nice he used manners and everything. The service at Sakos has gone to beyond horrendous. If I could leave less than 1 star I would. I HAD been a loyal customer of Sakos for years (pretty much since they opened). That ended tonight when I ordered my food at 6:30 and was told it'd be half hr to 45 mins (avg wait) 7:45 comes, still no food..... I call. Not only does the woman on the phone claim that she doesn't have an order for me (while I can hear the initial counter person in the background say that they remembered taking my order when I called it in). This woman I'm currently talking to claims to not have gotten an order from me. But that she can make it again and send it out.... no way am I waiting what would have ended up as over 2 hrs for a pizza AND paying for their mistake. I ceased being cordial at this point to be honest, I've got this obnoxious person yelling at me. Because they screwed up and still expect me to pay for them making me wait an unreasonable amount of time for food that I'm sure would have been tampered with before hitting my door. Rude as hell, horrendous service for mid, at best, pizza. Go to Cosmic, go to Crustys, let this place rot. read more

Soft opening was tonight so I'm going with 5 stars for now since they'll need time to get employees, training, timing, etc. For a place with 'pizza' in its name, the menu is heavily geared towards offering grinders... Lots and Lots of of grinders. I only ordered a cheese pizza because that's my thing. Pizza. Also, I'm not really a big fan of sandwiches anyway. It seems like they're expecting to do a lot of delivery business. They have sweet potato fries on the menu, which I always love but can't bring myself to order anything but pizza from a pizza place, so I may never know what they're like. They also offer deep fried Oreos, which is totally unappealing to me but my wife is extremely interested in giving them a go. So the pizza. I am a huge fan of the well done cheese and sauciness. The bones we're crunchy but soft, as if they made sure to bake a lot of cheese shreds on top of the pizza crust. The cheese was pretty oily. I could pick a slice up and hold it so that orange oil dripped off. I think that's a normal byproduct of the crispy cheese. The cheese was nice and salty. They're proud of the cheese blend they're using, and I think rightly so. The underside of the pizza began to really soften up, sort of like a slice of white bread, when we were halfway through the pie. The crust was chewier than it looked like it would be. So that was a nice surprise for a pan pizza. For comparison, the pizzas up the street at Blaze would be similar in size and price, with Sako's being heartier. About $9 after tax for a small cheese pizza. The trade off is speed. It probably took a total of about 20 minutes for me to order and then for my little pie to be prepared and baked versus the 5-6 minutes up the street at Blaze. That said, I think Sako's is the better deal when looking for a simple cheaper small pizza. Another bonus is that this isn't a chain. read more
