I am an Elite Yelper from Fl. I came back to RI hearing Pioneer Pizza had the best fish and chips so I was craving it today. I cannot rave about these fish and chips enough. #1 it's huge. So glad I have an air fryer to reheat. I called ahead to make sure they had it, she said every day! Very nice lady at the register pointed out that they had an American chop soui pizza! It looked delish along with all the other ready to eat slices in the case. Yup got one for supper! As for the ambiance there is none. 3 little tables and chairs is the whole dining area. Everything went down hill with the new owner. The prices are insane & the quality is not worth it. Burnt bread & dried out meat does not reflect a $15 steak & cheese sandwich. The interior used to be warm, welcoming and busy when you walk in, it is hardly that anymore. All the previous amazing staff have left. So sad for this place. read more

I have been getting pizza, fish and chips, and grinders from Pioneer pizza for 3years. Today was my first delivery of the new year 2025. from Pioneer .I was very disappointed and shocked that the consistent, dependablely food failed to live up to its reputation . Its quality was not its usual "exceptional" but short of satisfactory . My Italian grinder , was strewn with a lot of lettuce , tomatoes, onions, and pickles on top of very little cold cuts that shout " italian". I know the prices of food are high but , but skimming down the contents is unacceptable when discretionary money is spent on a food budget or treat for people. Maybe the food preparer was new, maybe it's under new management, or just "off" today. i will give them a chance to redeem themselves but in the future will Uber my "Italian "from Jersey Mikes even at the inconvenience for a consistent food I look forward to. read more

I went here with a few of my friends and the bathrooms were DISCUSTING!!!, there was mold in the corners and when they brought out our food my friend choked on a hair that was in the pizza, next day we all got food posining.. the service was not the best, kinda rude, and the atmostphere was overall sketchy and didnt seem the best, would not go agian. read more

Everyone is always raving about the fish and chips, so I decided to try it.. I ordered ahead for take out , only special request was fries well done, it did NOT disappoint. The fish itself was huge and more then enough fries which were perfectly well done, the packaging in a pizza box is smart instead of styrofoam which makes everything wet.. It's been along time since I have experienced food like this, although I am a native of New England, I have been residing in the south for a number of years. Driving by, we stopped in by chance and experienced some of the finest food I have had in a very long time! They had 2 small tables, so we sat by the door, which was propped open allowing us to feel both the smell of freshly cooked pizza and a cool breeze. So- no this is not really a sit down type of place, but the staff made us feel at home while proudly proclaiming they had been in business since 1966! Something else too I noticed, these people don't stand around looking at their phones- they work hard ! Our food was delivered piping hot and I was blown away by how good the meatball sub was. It really mattered to them that we were happy with our food. They take pride in what they do. How many places put this much care into serving their customers anymore? All I have to say is THANK YOU GUYS! You made me feel like I was home again. read more

Never been inside this place, just ordered delivery. Service is quick and friendly. Love the specialty pizza menu. Highly recommend the Big Mac pizza and I hate McDonald's. Doesn't place doesn't look much when you drive by it, in a little plaza. But they have great pizza. Wings are good too. I'm really fan of the fries though. They were soggy I would of expect them to put holes in the container so it will not be soggy. Other than the food was good. read more

Seriously this is THE best fish and chips! And it is in a pizza box instead of styrofoam , which is good for the environment, but moreover the food isn't wet from steaming in styrofoam. The tartar sauce is so tasty and isn't heavy. I also ordered a spinach pie but forgot to check the box to add cheese. I got a call from the restaurant asking if I wanted cheese! YES! Talk about awesome customers service! The pie was excellent with just the right amount of seasoning, and perfect crust! Can't wait to have some pepperoni pizza once Lent is over. Amazing pizza place. Pizza that tastes the way pizza is supposed to taste. Pioneer pizza has the perfect crust, which is not chewy or tough, but crispy and delicious. I have lived in town for 18 years and I wish I had discovered Pioneer Pizza House sooner. The prices are a little higher, but not by much, and it's because the ingredients are high quality. The delivery service is great! I have never had pizza delivered by a small local pizzeria with such quickness and quality. The pizza is good, probably the best sauce on a pie Ive had besides Uncle Tony's. The owner is welcoming and friendly. My only qualm is I don't appreciate being called "hun" by the feminine male pizza chef when I pick up a pizza. It made me feel very uncomfortable. In addition, I've been here in the past and specifically have asked for "well done" bake on my pizza and it just never happens. Ordered from here last Friday night. They offer a "fisherman's platter" on the weekends. The platter is fried fish and other seafood. It was so hot and crispy I swear they cooked it on my front step!! Nothing was soggy!! Highly recommended if you want fried food delivered!! I wish the new owners would have kept the original recipes. I grew up with Pioneer Pizza and it makes me so sad that this nostalgic part of my childhood is gone forever. 'The food is good though, so I recommend trying it but it's Pioneer Pizza in name only now. Probably will be out of business by the end of 2022. read more

Got delivery, so i can't comment on the dine-in experience. Got 2 pizzas and the fried pickles. The fried pickles were pretty good. Surprisingly good, even. The pizzas were DiGiornos/freezer pizza-tier, so not great. Thick, gritty crust you can't fold and they cheese blend was off, like there was too much cheddar in there or something. Go to Fellini's instead. You deserve better. read more

I have never seen a new ownership so spectacularly fuck up a good Italian grinder. The new owners bought a Warwick establishment that had been there for half a century and decided they knew better. The pickles are kosher dill and way too thick. The meats are different. There is way too much lettuce. Apparently they also felt the need to add a copious amount of salt and pepper. I ordered a fish and chip and sausage and mushroom pizza. I loved the "House of Pizza" Greek style type pizza. Good crust crunch and just the amount of cheese, toppings and grease. Historically many House Of Pizzas were started by Greeks but the Pizzas are not topped with FETA Cheese . A Cheese blend of mozzerella and cheddar is used. For people outside of New England see the wikki definition of " Hose of Pizza " style pizza below which is found in various House of Pizza establishments throughout New England. Definition: "In the cuisine of the United States, Greek pizza is a style of pizza crust and preparation where the pizza is proofed and cooked in a metal pan rather than stretched to order and baked on the floor of the pizza oven. The Greek style is baked in the oven in a shallow pan , unlike the deep pans used in Sicilian, Chicago, or Detroit-styled pizzas. Its crust is typically spongy, airy, and light, like focaccia but not as thick. The crust is also rather oily, due to the coating of oil applied to the pan during preparation. Greek pizza was invented by Costas Kitsatis, aka Constantinos Kombouzis, aka "Charlie", a Greek from Albania, at his restaurant Pizza House that was located at 86 Truman St. New London, Connecticut in 1955. First time here... I have seen the name and shop under construction since I have been a loyal customer to The Grateful Bread until they closed 3 months ago...(best sandwiches in town)... I decided to go here tonight. Pizza had great flavor but super soggy. In their defense we got delivery, but the worst part was they forgot one of my pies. The delivery driver was a nice professional gentleman and even he was upset that my cheese pizza was forgotten. He promised me a free cheese pizza next time we order in addition to bringing me my missing pie. I don't approve of the missing pizza but applaud them on their customer service... thank you!!! read more
