They seem to take care with the other hygiene things so I'm inclined to believe this part is ok, but I didn't directly see the replacement happen. I will likely return. read more

Lien.. that's who to ask for. She does an amazing job with dip powder, gentle, caring, and creative. She did some other amazing nails for me, but I don't have pictures of those. She has done the regular French ombré for me and I absolutely love it every single time. Although my favorite was a bright pink and purple, I was definitely nervous about this one because I was going on vacation. Lien did such an amazing job and she even cared enough to not use UV, as she said it would change the color slightly. Dip powder has been life changing and she just does it well. I've gone to another salon for dip and I was so badly disappointed that I had to go to Lien 2 days later to get it fixed. She fixed my nails (red and gold photos), so that you couldn't even tell what happened two days ago. She's always happy and cheerful, such a sweetheart. The salon itself has lots of chairs and their have separators between client and techs for safety. My friend recommended Lien and although I have "cheated" I had to go back to her (with my tail between my legs. My nails are strong and not damaged. The salon is pretty clean and they sanitize the instruments that they use (I've seen them do it). They do pedicures, manicures, and waxing at this salon. If you set up an appointment, it's better than just being a walk in (my recommendation). I always leave with a smile on my face and feeling like a bad b****. The manicure tends to last 3-4 weeks, but my nails (the way they are shaped) always need it badly at week 3. I enjoy coming here and will continue to visit Lien and her happy self. One of her coworkers Ha is also good, although she hasn't done my nails, she has worked on taking off the powder. She was gentle and I think I may try her skills one day if Lien is too busy. P.S. I've had a not so great experience with the male worker (not sure of his name) at the salon. I'd skip on getting a manicure with him. Excellent nails was anything but excellent. I requested highlighter nails on hands and feet. I can see the white underneath the bright colors I picked on both hands and feet. The toes chipped that very same day, and the white was exposed on all edges of the nails. I've wanted neon nails for a long time and I thought it could be done well here. I chose this business based on reviews perhaps reading one and two stars would have been a good idea. I have been getting pedicures for years and can say with all honesty i will not be going back. First i was cut twice. Each time something was put on the cut. Second one toe nail was not cut all the way across. Third after the pedacue was finished I watched the technician clean the tools. No gloves. Small piece of cotton or fabric soaked in something. At one point they used their ungloved had to scrape something off one of the tools. Perhaps I'm wrong but I assumed tools were to be sterilized with heat or soaked for ten minuets in a disinfected solution. I gave two stars because the massage was really nice. Amazing service! Sandy even gave me some tips to keep my nails healthy! I had just gotten my nails done at queenies and I wasn't happy with it so I went in for a repaint. They really do a good job focusing on technique not just design. Queenies made my nails look way too thick and Sandy did am amazing job filing them down and making them even She even cleaned under my nails!! After leaving queenies the undersides of my nails had a bunch of hardened glue and other stuff that kinda hurt so I was pleasantly surprised when she did that for me Overall awesome service. After being told to come back in an hour by a different salon, I walked across the street (I work on Castro) to find Excellent Nails and they were so kind and took me right away! Looked like I was the first customer of the day, but they were sooo so so so friendly. The lady - not sure her name - that helped me was so sweet and made every effort to make me feel comfortable. I have been here 3 times for manicure gel nails. All times as a walk-in. 2 times it was with Sam, and the last time it was with lien. All times were amazing, and since I've had great experiences consistently I felt it should write a review. The manicurists take their time - it may take up to about 45 minutes for a simple gel manicure. But the time is totally worth it. My nails have never looked better. read more

I fell for the fellow yelper reviews, yes. I went for a manicure, someone took me to a table asked me to dip my fingertips in a bowl. She couldn't speak English and kept saying something I never understood. She was also using some wrong (or not efficient) cuticle nipper and it hurt so much. Then another lady took over and redid all the cuticles. She worked on my nails hurriedly and then attended to another customer who just walked in. Result: My nails are all inconsistently shaped, the skin around looks like it was clawed at. The nail paint started coming off in 48h. Was afraid it will fall into my food so decided to take it off. Didn't even need a remover, could just peel off the paint off all my nails :) read more

I went to this nail salon 6 times approx because I live 4 blocks from there and 3 out 6 times I got a bad customer service experience 2 being terrible. The women there are rude and lound. They embarrassing me in front of the customers when she was hurting me bad when taking care of my in grow nail (I had that problem before with my toe nail for years and yes , I know it hurts when taking it out but this person was aggressive and careless and talking to others without really paying attention of my pain and discomfort, I asked her nicely to plesae be more careful and she got mad and scream at me.." She kept talking loud to other co-workers non stop in her lenguage.I started to have a bit of an anxiety because it was very painful and kind of of humiliating I told her to dont do my manicure on me. Before this time a guy there made me bleed from my big toe, he didnt say im sorry or noting, he just out some liquid (no alcohol) and he wanted to continue with the pedicure even thou I was in pain and worry and the blood didt stop. I've got the worst service ever in my life today. I usually come to the salon because I respect older ladies and the way they are doing their work - they were always friendly and doing their best. I am not always sure about cleanliness of some tools (especially those that they use for callus removal). I always everywhere keep reminding to take a new and clean tools because I had experience in the past with different salons that they did not always use clean tools. Also (My bad) - I was 7 min late today but I called in advance and informed that I am getting late and asked if I should still come - they said yes. I told the person who was going to make my pedicure my wishes (clean tools, round shape and cutting ingrowth). As a result an irritated salon owner came to me and said that I shouldn't tell that and let person work, and I can find another salon if I don't like something. My previous manicure and pedicure were not spectacular and after the last manicure I had inflammation on my fingers. Shall I ask about cleanliness after that? You tell me. I thought to give them the last chance today as people make mistakes. But after this service I will never come there again and don't recommend you. read more

Worst place ever. I was helped by the rudest woman who looked me up and down, paid no attention to me, and rolled her eyes whenever I requested something or asked her a question. The first woman who was doing my nails left the table to sit on one of the pedicure chairs and get a chair massage. Then her very nice coworker cane to assist me, but all of them were still gossiping. At times, the second lady who did my manicure would stop her work to continue gossiping with her coworkers. She was still very nice, asking me about how I was doing and how my day was going -- some small talk. After my manicure was over I explained that I had one of the worst experiences ever after being disrespected by the coworkers and initially yelled at when I asked the manicurist to be a little bit more gentle as my nails were healing. One of the worst nail salons I've ever been to. I made an appointment at 6:15pm to get a dip manicure and pedicure. I was there for over THREE HOURS. They finished at 9:30pm. It was RIDICULOUS. The man doing my nails didn't seem like he had any idea what he was doing. He cut up 3 of my nail beds/surrounding skin. I had to tell him over 5 times to just put a top coat on because he just kept layering the dip they are so thick. The woman that did my pedicure was very sweet but very slow. However she also cut up 3 of my toenail beds/skin. Not great when I had an event to work the next day, my toes were KILLING me. And it was pretty expensive. Excellent is an understatement for this nail salon! I called ahead to book an appointment and just by the way they answered I knew I was in for great service! I came in and they immediately began my pedicure, offered me something to drink and asked for my name again. They were so sweet, Leann and Lee both! We were having great conversation and they were so genuine! The attention to detail at this salon is impeccable, they were not letting me walk out of that door unless my nails were absolutely perfect. And they were! They took their time with my nails so if you're looking for something quick then this isn't the place for you. The prices were very reasonable, especially with the kind of service they provide! It's walking distance from where I'm living, I'll be here in Mountain View for 3 months and I will absolutely be coming back to Excellent Nails!
