This was our son (high schooler)'s first visit to UC Irvine, which was one of his top choices on the list. While on campus, my son was urgently looking for a restroom, and we tried about 5-6 of them around the campus, and every single one was locked. Finally, we saw Brandywine open and my son started to walk to the restroom when the front desk man stopped him with "hey what are you doing dude?" He said that the restroom was not open to public, and we had to purchased entrance tickets first. We told them that we just ate and we didn't need another meal, however we were willing to pay to use the restroom. They requested us to purchased the entrance ticket first, and it turned out to be $17+ per person. $17+ to use their restroom once. We decided to leave the campus right away, went to a nearby store, and decided not to return to the campus. It's understandable that they are following rules. However a good college to us should be at least humane. So far our other UC school visits have been much better.

Back then, it was always bustling with students during the day and packed during sports games in the evening. The stoner tots were always a must-order. They have a lot of good craft beers on tap. I've shared countless of pitchers of IPA or cider throughout my visits. It's definitely changed drastically since the pandemic. The atmosphere is lacking. Not packed at all. Hours are a little weird. In the past 2 years, each time I've visited, it's been emptier and emptier. There will only be 2 groups there besides my own. And I feel like I have to call every time I want to stop by because I'm not sure if it's open. Prices for pints and food are up (pints are a better deal always unless it's happy hour). The revamped food menu doesn't seem appealing either. The new staff isn't as friendly (maybe they don't employ students anymore?) There was a lady whose attitude was a bit condescending and off-putting. I'll still pop in whenever I'm on campus for nostalgic reasons, but it's not the same anymore.

Seafood app was so tasty, I really wish I could convert my entire main entree to just this! Chef Ricky made a lovely garlic sauce to go with the scallops and it transformed the entire dish. I have a bias and love steak over chicken, but for $4 extra you can get a whole steak to yourself! Definitely worth the up charge. Everything was cooked to perfection and seasoned well. We also took the opportunity to try out their sushi treasure menu and we were not disappointed with the quality and cuts. Each bite melted in my mouth and the flavor was phenomenal.
