After getting several bids from different HVAC companies we recently had two gas furnace HVAC systems in our home replaced by Evolution Heating and Air Conditioning. They installed two new heat pump systems with air cleaners and all new ducting and registers. The new systems have been operating for several weeks now, and so far, we are very happy with the way the systems are working. I was impressed by the professionalism and competence of all the companies that gave us bids, particularly Evolution. All of them made sensible arguments for the brands and options that they proposed, for a range of different prices, but in the end, I decided that the proposal from Jeff at Evolution was the best value for meeting our needs. We had our first HVAC system installed in 1989 soon after we moved into this house. A second system was installed in the new part of the house during a major remodel in 2000. Prices on HVAC systems have gone up quite a bit over the decades since then and we were considering replacing only the oldest system, which had become noisy, had uneven airflow, and was getting ready to fail again, but with the prices Jeff offered we decided to replace both systems. Now we are counting on quiet, reliable, and efficient heating and cooling throughout our house for years to come. Diego and the installation team worked very well together and were very courteous and respectful of our home. They wore masks and kept social distances while completing the replacement of both systems in one day. They removed two full systems from the attic including all ducts and cut the ceiling in a couple of places to accommodate register changes but contained everything in plastic sheeting and drop cloths such that I could barely find any extra dust once they were done. The new registers look great and provide quiet and much more balanced airflow. The new system and suspended ductwork in the attic look much better than the old system. They also placed the new systems in slightly different spots in the attic increasing accessible storage space in our attics. Jeff didn't push me to buy the most expensive options. Rather he focused on solving our uneven airflow and other problems by replacing ductwork, balancing return capacity, and proposing systems that would handle our needs without overkill. When I expressed interest in other options, he offered great prices on them, but also gave his honest opinions about whether they would be worth the extra money. Jeff is probably right about the long payback periods, but I ended up getting higher SEER than he first recommended and went for heat pumps instead of gas furnaces. Minimizing carbon emissions was a big factor for me as was some research I did on the likely relative lifetime operating costs of heat pumps versus gas furnaces in this climate zone, especially considering we also recently got solar panels. Jeff's frank assessments as well as the prices he offered for the options I selected made it easy to choose Evolution for the job. I wrote most of this review shortly after the installation, but I held off posting it until all the inspections were complete. We needed only minor corrections and Evolution took care of all of them promptly. Rose in the Evolution office worked with the various inspection agencies to get us through the HERS tests and county inspections. She also helped me get documents to support my application for AQMD heat pump rebates. Overall, I am very pleased with the work done by Evolution. read more

I was initially very happy with the installation of my new HVAC system -- the process was fast and smooth. But things quickly went downhill after I noticed one room wasn't cooling properly. I reached out for support, and a technician came to assess the issue. He confirmed there was a problem with airflow and suggested rerouting the duct and installing a new ceiling vent. He said he'd pass along his notes to the office, and they'd follow up to schedule the fix. But I heard nothing back. I had to follow up multiple times just to get an answer -- which was frustrating after spending over $15,000 on this system. When I finally got a response, I was told the cooling issue was due to relocating the air handler to the attic -- a change made to accommodate other home renovations. I get that this created some challenges, but I was shocked when they told me it would cost an additional $475 to fix a room that should have been cooling properly in the first place. To me, that felt like being sold a car with three working tires -- and then asked to pay extra for the fourth. After some push back, they agreed to lower the price to $250- which felt insulting, like they were nickel and diming me for a system that should have cooled all rooms of my small house. After pushing back and explaining my frustration, they eventually agreed to waive the fee and scheduled the fix. I appreciate that they made it right in the end, but the fact that it took repeated follow-ups and pressure to get there was disappointing. Bottom line: the system works now, but the post-install service left a lot to be desired. For a premium price, I expected better communication and accountability. read more

They were extremely professional, courteous and neat. Everything was swept, vacuumed and orderly both days. Jeff suggested a new duct and register, in our primary bedroom since it's always been the coldest room and now we can't believe how comfortable it is! Also, the suggestion to relocate the system from the hall to the attic (which the other company was not going to do) was fantastic! When the furnace kicks on now, we no longer joke about "getting ready for take off", as you can barely hear it. Since the unit was relocated to the attic, they also relocated the intake vents to the hallway ceiling and they look great! Martin drywalled our walls where the vents used to be and now we have a huge storage closet as an extra bonus. We are so happy we upgraded our equipment. And so happy we went with Evolution Heating and AC. Jeff was awesome to work with, so knowledgeable, as were the installers and Rose has been following up with me for any concerns I may have. We just had a HVAC system installed by Evolution. Our 20 year old system failed to start one cold February morning and we called Tony, a wonderful retired plumber in our neighborhood for help. Meanwhile our local plumber came out and quickly determined we needed a new furnace, spare parts were unavailable. But the high price made us hesitate. Tony put us in touch with Jeff Kieffer, general sales manager at Evolution. who came out to our home promptly, sat with us and professionally answered every question we had. Even when we demurred thinking we should get more price quotes, Jeff had plenty of actual estimates much more than the great price and finance options he could offer. He was convincing because of the low price we would get from Evolution. His very helpful office person Rose took the time on a Saturday to help me open our frozen credit accounts. Two days later the team of friendly, knowledgeable technicians showed up and completed the whole job in less than six hours. That even included a new shiny steel conduit to replace the plastic non-standard and too short conduit that we got when we moved the evaporator coil to a quieter place on the side of the house. The team was clean, helpful and efficient. We got a high quality American Standard 5 ton system, fully guaranteed, with extra filters. It is quieter and, to my surprise, I can't believe how much more heat it produces than our old system. We didn't need to replace our vents or operating system. When my partner and I bought a new unit in our complex we knew we would need to install a new HVAC system. Our old unit's system was great and made both summer and winter tolerable but we wanted to try a new outfit for our new unit. We'd noticed neighbors using someone new for their systems so we asked whether they'd recommend them. They gave glowing responses for everything from the labor to the cost. We called, set up a Saturday appointment with Jeff Keiffer (or was that Michael Douglas?), who was personable, knowledgeable and willing to accommodate some personal installation preferences (the main one: no machinery in our unit's entry), without complaint. After some negotiation we agreed to a 4-unit installation that would begin the following Monday and end that Wednesday. To be honest I had doubts that the installation would be completed by then but I was proven wrong. The Evolution workman were models of diligence and professionalism and the foreman, Martin, was terrific ... on Tuesday I thought the installation was going on a bit long noise-wise for my neighbors so I spoke to him; he instantly closed down for the day. Wednesday, right on time, the installation was complete, everything tested well and the next morning we enjoyed using our new heating system. Our new system has already made us more contented in our new home, but we know that during the coming summer we'll truly appreciate our full Evolution! read more

We were referred to Evolution by a family member. We normally choose venders that are mom and pop shops where the owner is the main person who does the service. However, once speaking with Jeff and what he had to offer and having various resources, we took a chance and hired Evolution to install a new HVAC unit at a rental property as their price was very competitive. That went so well that we hired them to replace our 60 year old furnace and add A/C. Again, their price was competitive to the many other bids we obtained - they simply made us an offer we couldn't refuse. Each "crew" did a fantastic job every step of the way. We moved our furnace from a hall closet up into the attic. They began with removing our asbestos laced ducting. Then they built a platform in the attic for the furnace, then hooked up new ducting. They installed nice new wall and ceiling vents/grills throughout the house and built a new attic entrance access that is very sleek and finished looking - much nicer than the original. They finished the project by sending a team to drywall patch over our old vent holes. Each step was done neatly and efficiently and everyone was friendly and easy to work with. They even did a few extras, like installing a light switch in the attic. On February 11th, 2022, we met with Jeff Kieffer, general sales manager of Evolution Heating and Air Conditioning. He was the second contractor we had contacted for a bid for a complete system installation in our 1922 bungalow. Jeff was on time. He took the time to look over our home for the best way to add the HVAC system, and gave us a quote that was $4,500 less than the previous company's bid. Because of his no nonsense approach, we felt confident that Evolution would get the job. On Monday his crew showed up at the time that they were scheduled to. All of the installation crew, led by Juan, were very professional and helpful, answering any questions we had along the way. As part of the job, they removed the old floor furnace and covered the hole. What I didn't expect was making the attic's access larger, adding a light in attic, and even replaced the old wiring for my doorbell which had shorted out. By Wednesday evening the system was up and running, with just a few things left to finish the next day. These guys never took a break, so I brought them pizza for dinner that evening. Called up a couple HVAC companies to replace HVAC system at my brother's house. I wanted a good company and Evolution Heating had all 5 star reviews. The job went so well, I immediately booked Evolution Heating to replace the HVAC system at my house. I can see why they receive 5 star reviews for their service. Their crew are super professional, friendly, and completed what I thought was a 2 day job, in 1 day. My home never had AC and they had to run a new installation for both of my new systems, and got it all done in one day. Jeff's a straight shooter and helpful, Diego is super cool and will walk through with you to make sure everything's mapped out for the installation. I was the most impressed with the fact that I had a broken attic stairs that weren't safe to walk up. I offhandedly asked Diego if they've ever replaced attic stairs. He said they didn't, but he'd be willing to do it for me. Honestly, that was one of the things I was the most impressed with. I recently had a new HVAC system installed by Evolution Heating and Air Conditioning and had a great experience overall. Diego (who I believe is the owner) handled the initial quote, job walk, and final walkthrough, and everything went smoothly from start to finish. Rose, the manager, was great to work with. I changed my mind on a few things and requested some updates to the quote/job, and she was always helpful, responsive, and professional. Communication was easy and timely throughout the process. The technicians were professional, respectful, and hardworking. I upgraded to a newer heat pump system, including the indoor unit and outdoor condenser, along with some duct work. Everything passed city inspection with no issues. There were a couple of very minor issues noted during the initial inspection, but they were addressed immediately once brought up. Simply the best - from Jeff and Diego to the installation team, Eddy, Ramon and Adam. Jeff explained everything to me, in detail throughout the sales process. Yes, I asked a lot of questions - they were all very patient with me. But, more importantly they delivered, the equipment has been installed now for exactly one week. I have a solar system and I wanted to see how efficient the new HVAC system was, and by monitoring my net usage each day during this hot weather, I do see a big difference - more even cooling throughout the day, throughout the house, and my SCE daily "net" usage numbers are noticeably lower. On the weekend before my mom was coming home from two months in the hospital, her HVAC unit stopped working. We needed a HVAC system replacement due to a Power surge that damaged our existing HVAC system beyond repair. Called  on Friday morning, appointment on Friday afternoon, arrived 9 am on Monday morning replaced furnace, air conditioner coil, condenser and new lines, installed new plenum, added a 2nd return, new HVAC vent to kitchen, and installed new WiFi thermostat. Thoroughly tested the new HVAC system to include a detailed tutorial on the new WiFi thermostat and air flow at each vent. The installation team of 3 vacuumed/cleaned all areas with all work completed before 5 pm. The Evolution team (front office, sales manager, and installation technicians) are highly professional. The sales manager thoroughly explained all aspects of the work, and the performance of the new equipment to include warranty. All details were documented so on the contract. This review is a long time coming. We had a new HVAC system installed last year around fall season. At the time, we were able to test the heating part but not the AC until this summer. It has been almost a year and everything has been working great! Overall, Raul and his crew were professional, friendly and completed the job in one day. We had an excellent expierence with Evolution Heating and Air Conditioning. After another company was unable to fix the problem, they recommended replacing my furnace and compressor. While the issue stemmed from the quality of the origial furnace install, I called Evolution for a second opinion. Eddie came out and provided a few possible solutions. After talking the options over with Diego, he came back out to re-evaluate and was able to make a some adjustments without replacing any parts. Diego could have easily replaced a few parts, made the adjustments and some extra money, but he did what was right for the customer.
