We got the chicken Shawarma fries which were delicious the potatoes where fluffy and crunchy the chicken was jersey and perfectly cooked the tzatziki sauce wasn't overpowering a great complement to the flavors. This replaced another local joint and this is so much better! I've been multiple times, but each time the high quality of the ingredients really shows. I also love how friendly the staff is every time I go. I've gotten the gyro wraps on multiple occasion as well as the gyro melt. Some of the best nachos I have ever had. Their pita nachos are such a fun take on fusion food. The pita chips are thicker than corn chips but are still nice and crispy. I believe it was topped with feta, pomegranate, and some sort of hummus. We added kefta meatballs which was a great addition. It was a ton of food and easily enough for a meal. We stopped by Evette's on a cold Saturday morning and decided to order breakfast/bunch! The menu led us to believe that we needed to come with an empty stomach which was 100% true because these dishes are very filling. The thing I loved about Evette's is the quantity of food served, the mix of delicious ingredients, and the kind employees taking our order and making the food. What we ordered: I ordered the Pita Huevos Rancheros which was delicious. The eggs were cooked sunny side up, but I'm sure you could ask to have them cooked more if runny eggs aren't your favorite. The homemade salsa rosa was delicious and added great flavor and spice (be aware this dish is a little spicy due to the salsa and chili oil!). I did have the option to add meat, but I decided to go with how it was noted on the menu, with no meat. My friend ordered the Breakfast Sandwhich which ended up being a massive sandwich full of everything you could imagine - eggs, fries, cheese, and more. By the end, the bun fell apart and it was easier to eat with a fork, but we made sure to eat every last bite possible. I did save about 1/2 of my Pita Huevos Rancheros which was a wonderful leftover warmed up in the oven to keep the Pita chips crispy! The restaurant is pretty small but there is usually a place to sit and eat your meal. Otherwise, I'd plan on taking your food to go! read more

Get. The. Tacos. You will not be disappointed! Backstory: My family and I needed to waste time until our zoo reservation. I quickly searched for some place to eat lunch and found Evette's. The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming and I liked the music. The inside is small but by some miracle we snagged a table. We ordered a lamb melt, lamb wrap, chicken sharawma wrap, French fries, and two al pastor tacos. My oldest kid really liked the sharawma wrap. He said the chicken was tender and juicy. My younger kid had the lamb melt and a taco. He didn't like the melt because his bread was a little charred. The manager or owner noticed the bread and took it off our check! I was not expecting that! I had the lamb wrap. It was good. It could use a little more meat but I still enjoyed it. The fries were fresh and crisp. Okay, now let's get back to the tacos! I was not expecting them to be so delicious but wow! All I needed was some hot salsa and I would've been in heaven! My kids are still talking about the tacos. Get one or ten. Saw this place recommended by my fav food blogger lickworthy and wanted to give it a try for lunch. The food was amazing. Tried the chicken shawarma plate and the pomegranate feta tabbouleh. YUM! Would order it again. My only complaint about the experience is when I ordered through the restaurant's online ordering platform, the experience was absolutely horrible. The ordering part was very easy, but when the driver picked up the food I didn't have transparency into where the driver was, like I do with the other food delivery platforms, and he was driving around lost for about 30 minutes. Just inhaled my first order from here.. well, as much as I could! Anyway I almost ordered the chicken shawarma wrap, but decided on the chicken tacos instead. SO GOOD!! I ate 2 of the 3 and will have the last one later. I ordered the side of couscous which I guess just isn't what I was expecting.. it comes cold, with golden raisins and feta. It isn't bad, but doesn't really go with the tacos and I guess I was expecting a warm side.. so I'll save that for later or share when I get home. It's still a bit of a rushed vibe in there. I guess that's a good sign for them. It's a small place, but the decor is cozy, if you can ignore the bustle in the kitchen. Evette's is an absolute gem, and I'm so glad they opened up in Lincoln Park. We are so lucky to have them. The mix of Lebanese and Mexican flavors is incredible, and I love being able to taste flavors from both cuisines in many of these dishes. My favorite items so far are the halloumi tacos and the lamb melt. They are to die for and are two of the items where the fusion of flavors from each cuisine shine. Was very excited for Evette's, as it's just down the street from where I live. I tried it on its opening day, and the only negative aspect was that the portions were not large enough, and there was not enough meat. However, I withheld judgment given that it was the very first day. Went back recently, and not only are the portions now significantly larger, they are much more generous with their meat. A few months back I learned about Evette's for the first time. I came by on a Sunday with my partner at 10am, which is when it says on their website that they're open. The open light was on but the door was closed and the person at the grill saw us and ignored us, so we knocked. We asked if they were opened and he said, "Nah, 11" so we left. The menu looked really good though, so despite that I wanted to come back another day. I had never been inside so I didn't know what to expect and decided to make a reservation on Tock which required a deposit of $10. No problem, as I really wanted to go and I was taking my mom from out of town. We arrive at 7:32 and I was confused as I looked around. No server, no host.. about 2 high top tables and 5 window seats. I was confused why a reservation would ever be encouraged with such limited seating to even offer guests, but I went to the cashier to find out about my reservation since my deposit was supposed to be put towards my bill. He informed me that they were already closed... at 7:32 when they are open until 8... and I had a 7:45 reservation.. and they had my $10 deposit. I spoke with the owner the next day who blamed Tock for letting me make a reservation that late and didn't have much to say about them not honoring their hours or my reservation. Thanks to Tock I was finally able to get my refund back. Safe to say, good sounding menu or not, I will never go back. Twice now they have been unreliable and not honored their hours so they've wasted enough of my time. read more

After reading the review in the NYT, I was so excited to try this spot. I went with two friends on a Sunday at 2:00 to take advantage of the regular menu so highly touted -- plus the brunch menu was meh. The young gal with trendy bleached eyebrows taking orders messed up two out of three simple orders and an inability to answer questions. We were told that they were out of French fries -- a key component of menu. The salad which sounded great was basic with barely any flavor. The halloumi was rubbery and certainly nothing like the NYT descriptions. The wraps that the beef and chicken shawarma seemed stale. The sirloin beef was dry, salty and tasteless. The only bright spots were the chicken meat in shawarma and the sweet potato fries. However, neither would seem to propel this spot to a NYT mention. Overall, it was super disappointing and even if it was an off day, the staff were so disengaged and uninterested in the customers, I'm not sure it's worth a repeat visit especially being charged $22 for a beef shawarma and a Pellegrino lemonade. read more
