My favorite stop for this visit to Chicago! The garlic fries are a must get, as the scoop shape of the fries maximizes crunch and serves as the perfect conveyor of that feta cheese, herbs, and garlic. Also indulge in some tacos (3 for $12) - my favorites were the chicken and al pastor, although the carne asada was also quite good. If you don't love it, Yelper Sarju S. (one of my college besties and the most reasonable person I know) has offered to refund your money, with one caveat. UPDATE: I went back (I told y'all I would) and got the Chicken Shawarma Plate. It's SO GOOD. The plate comes with salad, couscous, and chicken shawarma on top of fries as the main. It's literally 2lbs of food (and will be both my lunch and dinner today lol). The salad it came with was FULLY stocked with toppings (which was not my experience last time - hence the +1 star for this review), the couscous salad has a slight sweetness that I fully appreciate here but y'all the chicken shawarma... star of the show. Big big chunks of roasted chicken, so juicy so tender sooo good. In full transparency - Michael, the owner of Evettes, reached out to me due to my previous 4-star review and basically said "this sounds out of the norm, sorry you had a bad experience" and offered me a future comped salad. Thank you! I haven't taken him up on that yet ...mostly because I forgot to, but that was part of the reason I came back here! Great customer service. From Michels comments about what the salad should've looked like last time + the salad I got today, I genuinely believe I got a dud last time. The atmosphere, the amazing food and the great customer service here really puts Evettes in my top 5 eats in Lincoln Park. This review is for the Evette's in Timeout Market. I've heard a lot about this place in the Chicago foodie scene; yet, I had never made it to their Armitage location. I found myself at Timeout Market this evening and I was pleased to learn that Evette's has a location here in the market. I had a difficult time deciding between the steak and the chicken. Based off of the servers recommendation I went with the chicken, and I'm glad that I did because it was amazing. Not only was this one of the best shawarma plates that I have ever had, but generally speaking this was one of the best plates that I have had in a long time. The combination of flavors and how they all compliment each other is something that really sets this dish aside from so many others. The chicken was seasoned to perfection, moist, and delicious. I was also content with the portion size of not just the chicken, but the plate itself. Some of the vendors at time our market charge meal prices for sample size portions, but that is not the case with Evette's. The chicken shawarma plate was not only delicious, but it was also beautiful. There were a variety of colors to the plate and it was presented in a way that made me stare at it for a few minutes to appreciate it's beauty before rolling my sleeves back and digging in. The server not only helped me decide which protein to go with, but was generally laid back and a pleasure to interact with. I don't think it would be fair to kiddie the ambience in this scenario since it is at the time out market, but in case you didn't know the market is loud, busy, full of diverse people, and is a great representation of life in the city. Loved this place! We got the steak and chicken shawarma plates. Both were excellent but we preferred the steak, it had some nice crispy bits to the meat. The quinoa had so much flavor. It's cold just fyi, in case that throws anyone off. It was really refreshing. The pretty salad was great too. It had extra little things like pomegranate and micro-greens that were happy little surprises and added to the appearance and flavor. There are fries underneath the meat so it was like having loaded fries . Great combination of flavor. The service was great. Quick and friendly. The music in the background was very loud. I'm not sure if this is normal or not, but I liked the music so it was ok with me. It's small inside but it opened up so you could sit inside but still get the nice breeze from outside. Stumbled across Evette's randomly on Yelp and everything looked delicious. I ordered delivery through their website and got the chicken shwarma, side of fries, and super garlic fries. The delivery was pretty quick! Sadly, the garlic fries never made it to me, but when I called to let them know they were super helpful and offered me a refund for that item immediately. Great customer service and great food!! The fried pita is really similar to Olga's Snackers (for you Michiganders) and the Chicken Shwarma was very good, too. I don't think I've ever seen a place that serves up a fusion of Lebanese and Mexican -- I wasn't totally sure what to expect. As you can guess from the five stars, we loved it! We picked up a takeout order (no indoor dining due to COVID btw!) on Friday afternoon. The garlic feta fries were delicious. The cut of the fries was sort of like... thick potato chips? Perfectly crispy fries with an amazing dressing of some garlicy sauce, spices and feta. I read the rave reviews about the al pastor tacos -- they're all right. Those tacos were perfection for me. The cheese between the tortillas were a great touch. The final thing we tried was the chicken shawarma wrap. The wraps are HUGE. Amazing flavors. The pita was soft and so fresh. All the ingredients were fresh and so tasty. The interior and exterior are absolutely beautiful too. I can't wait until the summer (their front windows open up) post-covid when they open up for indoor dining. Such a great environment. Lincoln Park is fortunate to have such a great spot like Evette's! We're excited to try more things from the menu! *for gluten-free folks, there are some options for you. Evette's is my current quarantine obsession. Everything is so dang unique and delicious!! I literally walked almost a mile to get here when it was -25 degrees out, it's that good. They really nailed the concept of fusion here. We have had the gyro wrap, halloumi wrap, chicken shawarma fries, gyro shawarma fries, and the herb & chili oil fries, and have been wowed by everything. My favorite so far has been the halloumi wrap, but shawarma fries would definitely take the top spot if only they came with some kind of hot sauce (maybe that's something you get when you dine in?). Next time I am trying tacos for sure, because the halloumi tacos have been calling my name for weeks! - Great food. Flavorful and nice big portions. We usually do one order of the gyro melt and share it between two people. The fries are amazing. The crispy and taste of it is really really good. It tastes like they could be using a better kind of oil to fry them because it is yum to the my. My favorite here is their whipped feta & veggies starter. I could literally only order that and be happy. It comes with pieces of fried tasting bread which I could eat all day. My next venture are their tacos. I have gotten Evette's for takeout a few times (I have ordered in person, via phone, and on their online platform) and it is on point every time! The service has always been really good and the food is DELICIOUS. Our favorites are the Chicken Shwarma Wrap, Garlic and Feta Fries, and ALL the shakes. After trying all 3 at the same time, our favorite shake is the peanut butter date one (but by close margin). I went to the Time Out Market location because I was in need of quick takeout dinner for the airport. I ordered a pretty salad with chicken. Initially, I was debating between halloumi or chicken as the protein and personally asked both servers at the front which one. They both agreed that chicken was the way to go....so that's what I requested for my salad. Since I was the only person ordering, my order was complete within 10 mins and I left with my order. Pretty quick service. When I got past security at the airport, I decided to eat my dinner before boarding. I opened the box and there was my salad....with no chicken. I was actually in disbelief as to how they couldn't give me my order. I was the only customer and we actually deliberated on which protein to try. They managed to charge me extra for the protein (after tax and tip, it was almost double) and well, my salad was measly and not filling without it. I'm pretty disappointed. I have a friend who mentioned that they tend to mess up orders so she wasn't completely shocked at my experience. I think there needs to be improvements in training and staffing so that customers aren't turned off by poor service. It doesn't do justice for the food which may taste good. read more

It seems like Evettes has worked out some kinks since our last visit. Today they had a brunch menu available when we arrived around 1:45/2pm. Wrap and tacos were both delicious. They add an automatic tip just a general fyi, we were surprised our total was so high but then we were told it included tip. The wait for our order was only about 15 minutes.
