We were passing through on our way to San Antonio from Ft Worth and read the yelp reviews so we stopped here for lunch. So glad we did! We had "The works" schnitzel plate with noodles and red cabbage and salad. It was a perfect choice. The service was quick and the food was delicious. Even the salad was tasty with a German style ranch dressing that had a bit of dill. The cabbage was a little tart for my taste (I'm not wild about any type of sour food but this was actually relatively mild) ...but my husband loved and finished both of ours! As we were finishing our meal we overheard another waiter mention a soup and sandwich lunch special and that sounded (and looked) like something we would've enjoyed too. First time to visit this cafe. The service was great, our waiter Jacob was very helpful in explaining the items on the menu and giving recommendations. Didn't take long for our food to arrive and the Schnitzel was great! The desserts looked amazing but we were too full to try one. The staff was very friendly as well. A friend I visited Lampassas and we stop at Eve's Cafe and had the best German Food we have ever had. The wait staff was friendly and the entire atmosphere was the best. Amazing fresh and flavorful food. Obviously a local favorite, who kept tables full. I had a poblano cream schnitzel. Best I ever had, including schnitzel in Germany. Dessert was rich and creamy. Stopped here for late lunch on a Friday during the holiday break. Quaint little restaurant on the square. It was crowded even at 1:30. Service was slow due to shift change. We had to go to the counter to ask for service at our table. BUT, once that was straightened out, it was a pleasant experience. The food was excellent! The schnitzel was so tender & juicy. Stopped in for lunch and needed to wait around 20 minutes as the place was packed. Once we got seated prompt service and a backed up kitchen did cause some delays in getting food. Everyone was experiencing the same issue. Waitress tried to explain situation to some tables but to no avail. We understood the issue and were patient. Passing through Lampasas we discovered Eve's Café; it was noon on the square and seemed everyone wanted to eat at Eve's. We had to wait about fifteen minutes to get in, the place looks like it can seat about 30 people, if you share a table, which we did with a very nice lady named Pat. While waiting we were given our drinks outside on the sidewalk. Once seated we ordered the Rueben and Schnitzel sandwiches, comes with chips and a pickle slice. My wife's Rueben was very good while the Schnitzel was very dry due to over cooking. The other problem it took about twenty minutes to receive our food once ordered. I would like to try some of the more traditional German food if passing through again. read more

We stopped in on our way home to Austin. The food was great. We had the Hawaiian sandwich and hamburger, the French sandwich and the no meat sandwich. The dessert was top notch as well. The location is quaint and charming, right in the downtown square. Service was great. Everyone was attentive and friendly. The food was perfect, just like my German mother-in-law cooks from scratch. Great find! Driving through Lampasas and gave Eve's a try after reading Yelp reviews. This place totally exceeded our expectations. I've never had Schniztel before but it's basically a breaded pork cutlet with different toppings. The service was a little slow but mostly because of it being busy. Our server was very attentive. I had "The Works" Schnitzel which had a little bit of all the toppings. It was incredible!! My wife had a Käse Sandwich which was also delicious. The desserts are heavenly and you shouldn't leave without having one. Will definitely stop in again if we are in Lampasas. read more

Hands down BEST German restaurant in Texas. During dinner hours the food takes a little longer than usual because the place is always full with customers but the wait is worth it.
