Always delicious food at Storm's!…read more Can't make up your mind? Well, neither can I so I always end up right back at the Storm's Special. Can I eat it all? Absolutely not. Do I order it anyway? Absolutely YES. I just can't resist it! Everything goes together so scrumptiously, and I know I'm definitely not the only one who considers it an all-time favorite. Yeah, prices have gone up, but guess what? They've gone up everywhere. That's life. If you want good food and you want it done right, just pull on in and pick something off the menu. Seriously, it doesn't matter what you get, it's gonna be good. And if it's morning? Those breakfast tacos... OMG. Hands down some of the BEST in town! Storm's just knows how to feed people right.

A warning: If you eat Weinerschnitzel in Vienna, you will be ruined for life on most of the…read moreversions you find elsewhere. But I was stupid, and hungry, and ordered what looked like the specialty of the house at Eve's Café. In fact, it looked like what they called a Wienerschnitzel was the basis for all sorts of schnitzel variations with different toppings and gravy. That should've been an extra warning for me. To be fair, the description on the menu said that what you would get was a pork chop, and that is what I got. It was a little bit tough, which I suspected in advance, watching the people at the next table, sewing on theirs. The breading was weird in a way that's hard to describe. It was somewhat over-seasoned, a little bit hard, and left an aftertaste that was slightly chemical. An even worse sin by Texas standards, it was small, as in the recommended meat portion size for healthy eating, about the size of my hand, minus the fingers. My side of onion rings had the same breading. And even though I am generally a gravy hog, I didn't especially care for the brown gravy that came with my meal. The German dill salad probably had some dill in it somewhere, but it was all drowned in so much mayonnaise-based dressing, I couldn't really taste it, and the whole thing turned into soup before I finished. This all really sounds terrible, but it wasn't actually terrible. I ate all of it except for the soupy salad, but it just never rose beyond competent, when I had gotten my hopes up for some good German food. As I looked around at what others were eating, I really wished I had ordered one of the fabulous-looking sandwiches, burgers, or bratwurst. Those are harder to mess up. The restaurant itself has a nice location on the Square in Lampasas, and a charming vibe. The Thursday lunch crowd was good sized so it looks like a popular local place. The service was very friendly and pretty quick--maybe little TOO quick, as if my schnitzel might've been waiting for me under a heat lamp. Once I'd finished, I was still a little hungry, and considered ordering a slice of their Black Forest Cake. But I have had Black Forest Cake in Bavaria, and I simply couldn't bear another disappointment.

I felt like we intruded on these ladies lunches! I'm looking all over for a menu and finally ask the girl behind the counter and she pulls a menu out. I'm was so confused as to why they don't just keep them out. The next thing that got me is that there weren't prices on the menu. We ordered 2 pulled pork and 1 chicken salad and it was about $38. The girl behind the counter was very sweet and accommodating, especially for my picky kids. My kids love pulled pork and they said this was okay but they preferred grandpa's. It did look a little dry but my husband said it was okay. My chicken salad sandwich was dry as well. The potato salad was really good though!!! They both could have used a little more seasoning. Thankfully there was salt on the table. Now for the star of the show... the pickles!!! I'm the only real pickle eater and I thought they were really good... enough so that I bought a big container. It was a little odd because the pickles on my plate were different textures. My husband actually noted the same thing. We went back and got a Dr Pepper cake. It was moist and had an interesting flavor. I don't think I would have guessed DP if I hadn't known it before.

Here's how i got back some of my meat see photos. This is a week after getting a call that my meat was ready, and an hour after picking it up and driving back home to put it in my freezer after having boxes in yeti 120. Should have checked out the boxes in the store but they are all taped up. On top of that, every other package of ground beef i have, out of the 80 pounds or so, has so much cartilage and gristle in it I can't finish a meal without having a pile of it sitting on the side of my plate. Every other fork bite is a chunk of garbage thats added weight of trash. A sorry excuse for taking care of someone's meat with no pride and pure laziness. I picked up this meat and told the owner several items had no seal and freezer burn on a call when I got back to the house, he told me it was impossible over the phone , and to text photos, never heard back with no remorse or care. I process and store every other animal I eat besides beef and he wants to tell me "it's impossible". Either his help is no good or he is complicit and a liar in their theft of new meat. Tells me I'm lying after spending $1k for his services calling him the day I pick up. I'd assume some theft is going on if I'm getting meat back that looks like it's been unsealed and frozen for years. Might give you your steaks back and take your ground and give you orders people never came to pick up. 0 pride, accountability, and character. No wonder the butcher shop side doesn't have a yelp page. I came back to leave a review after picking up in early December because the hamburger has gotten even worse as I've eaten through it. I like to support small business but this is ridiculous.

I decided to follow the exact same footsteps as they did in the Episode that Lampasas, TX was featured. I found myself at this charming, beautiful family owned restaurant. What an amazing find. The restaurant has a beautiful outdoor area that reminds you of the outdoor areas of resorts in Mexico. The food is fresh, light, great value and absolutely Delicious! The service from the time I walked in to the time I left was top notch. Everyone was very friendly and I love how when a local came in, they were welcomed as family and if you were new to their establishment, they took the time to greet, welcome you, talk about their menu and gave you suggestions. I had a Mango Winerita (they can only serve beer and wine since they're close to a school and a church) which was super refreshing. The usual chips and salsa came to the table. The salsa had a nice flavor and just the right amount of heat... That your taste buds response to but than the heat goes away. The Queso was liquid gold... Smooth and cheesy... Perfect consistency that coats your chips but doesn't drip all over the place. I was treated to a different salsa that isn't normally brought to the table unless you asked for it. Woww!! Chunky with a nice roundness of smokey flavor, freshness and again the perfect touch of heat. The Jalapeno Fried Chips are beyond words... Thinly sliced, fried golden perfection with a Ranch Dipping Sauce to accommodate them. I couldn't stop eating them! So addictive. Than my main course... The Mexican Steak plate. Thinly sliced perfectly tender cooked meat with onions, peppers and tomatoes tossed all together. Rice and beans rounded off the plate perfectly. Everything was cooked right, everything was fresh and surprising light. The portions are generous and the prices are extremely reasonable. It was a perfect way to end my Day Trip in Lampasas. I look forward to going there again and exploring more of their menu. If you are from that area and have never been... Go support your local businesses!
