Mmm... DQ! After an arduous hike over at Colorado Bend, we knew exactly what we were in the mood for: "Grill and Chill!" We weren't the only ones because the parking lot was to capacity when we arrived. Thankfully they have a large, spacious, and clean lobby. We ordered our hot food and admittedly it did take awhile to get served... turns out they were having drive-thru folks pull through and park to wait for their hot food orders to keep up with customers just ordering ice cream products, thus part of why the parking lot was so full. But anyway, the hot food was HOT when it came out and we happily snarfed it all down, then ordered a blizzard after. Got the seasonal peppermint hot cocoa. Sooo freakin' tasty. I will say the toilets in this joint are more like water closets, LOL. Tiny! That's fine for a tiny fella like me but a larger person would probably feel pretty claustrophobic in there. This location is right beside the river and bridge, so if you want you can grab a yummy dessert and take a nice stroll while you enjoy it!

Beat Dairy Queen food I have in a while. Old school DQ atmosphere. Enjoyed it, reminded me of when I was a kid.

Just a dry hamburger, enough said. This should be you last ditch effort to find food.

Horrible service. Waited in the drive-through for 15 minutes for a burger, popcorn chicken and onion rings. The food was tasteless.

The server was adamant about us tasting the flavors before we made our selection! We got the strawberry chunk, mango sorbet, salty little secret, vanilla & pistachio. The pistachio tasted so fresh and creamy, and the salty little secret was something I'd get a pint of and eat the whole thing at home! I loved every bite, I will say it was a little expensive but this definitely a well worth it splurge.

Since we were new, we let the other people go first. The line moved very slow in total. It took about 15 minutes before it was our turn to sample their flavors. For me personally, I was a bit bummed to see all these delicious flavors that were available, but I wasn't able to sample many of them because I have a dairy allergy. So that being said, they only had one flavor that I could try at the time I did appreciate that they had a laminated sheet of paper that listed all of the allergens and all of their flavors, so anyone that had an allergy could quickly see which flavors they could try and which ones they should avoid. During my visit, I ordered their mint basil sorbet which was very good. At five dollars per scoop, it's definitely on the pricier side. However, the ambience inside this ice cream shop was nice and I could see myself hanging out here socially if they had more dairy free options. But overall, I had an okay experience here. The workers were very friendly and knowledgeable. They are located in a small plaza with ample parking. It was also easy to get in and out of the parking lot, which I think is a big plus.

Since we're both salted caramel fans, we were sold. Careful when you're looking for it (and you should), since it's got a small sign and the window is on the side of the building. (See pics) We can fully endorse the review that brought us; the salted caramel crunch was absolutely amazing. Steve uses top shelf ingredients and makes his own caramel. The ice cream is smooth and delicious. It's creamy (but not the gooey, mouth coating stuff made by a mega corporation pretending to be Scandanvian). There are chocolate chunks, about 1/8" thick, probably made from the quality chocolate that they use for other flavors. It's like home made if the person at home was an expert chef. I can't wait to go back.
