Everyday Cafe' is a locally-owned business (started by Bible Center). The number one goal is to bring community together through food. They're open Monday-Saturday 7 am-4 pm and closed on Sunday. This brekkie/brunch/lunch joint makes a mean cup of Joe. Not to mention the refreshing smoothies and frozen coffee drinks. The quiche is incredible! Packed with eggs, cheese, veg, etc. It's light and fluffy and never dense or overcooked. I love the turkey caprese and Italian paninis. Also, the flatbread pizzas are great for lunch. Really enjoyed this little coffee shop in the Homewood neighborhood. My husband & I went in for breakfast. You quickly see & feel its "coffee with a cause" mission - the family-owned business created by the Bible Center Church has a big display board in the back that tells its story. It's very community oriented. I love that it has a community kitchen for rent & is connected to a nearby farm/fishery for fresh food. Our English muffins were pretty tasty - Turkey sausage, egg, & cheese. The woman checking us out recommended fresh spinach - so I added some on mine. My husband's cranberry (orange?) muffin was not good, though. Quite dry. The coffee was good, as was my chamomile tea. We sat on a big couch by the front window to enjoy our meal. Most of the other diners were at tables working on laptops. A nice experience. We'll be back. read more

Pleasant and calming atmosphere. We went on a Friday morning. It wasn't busy so the service didn't take too long. They were very kind and it was cool to see the cool things they're apart of in the larger community. I also loved how they shared various nonprofit resources & services on the front table. I went here specially for the cookie butter frapp and it was worth it. It was well blended and flavorful. The brown sugar scone was sweet but not overly sweet. Even my picky niece who doesn't like to try new food tried it and enjoyed it. The scone definitely tastes better warmed up. read more

After spending the morning walking around The Frick Museum, my wife and I decided to venture down to Everyday Cafe. It was a somewhat cool and drizzly day, so a sandwich and soup sounded like the right idea. The cafe seems to be part of a larger enclave of businesses dedicated to social and cultural education and public outreach, though there was also a religious element to the messaging on the walls. We had no idea what kind of place the cafe was -- besides just being a cafe -- or what type of organization it was associated with, but it was a peaceful respite on a cold day and the employees were very nice. I had a ham and cheese panini with a cup of chili, and my wife had chicken and rice soup. The panini was good, somewhat standard as these things go, but the chili was really excellent. It had a bit of a kick to it but was not overpowering at all. The blend of spices and other ingredients was just right, and I easily could have eaten another cup of it happily. My wife's soup was also quite tasty, and she was happy to have gotten it. Before leaving, I ordered a double espresso, which hit the spot before going back out into the drizzle. We noticed as we were leaving that a small group of women were gathering for a weekly poetry reading and writing workshop. The space is perfect for that type of event. I don't remember what else was on the menu, but I recommend Everyday Cafe if you're in the area and want a good soup and sandwich. read more

On February 8, I had my second Book Launch at the Everyday Café, and it was a wonderful success! This was due to the comfortable and welcoming setting of the Café, the excellent food & drinks, and the pleasant, efficient staff. We had a standing-room only audience and although lots of food was being ordered, the staff was able to prepare the food and maneuver through tables to get the orders to the individual tables effectively. Many guests were in the Café for the first time and they gave it rave reviews. I agree and plan to return regularly to support this business. I personally recommend the excellent flatbreads; I had the Roasted Vegetables with Garlic sauce and Lemon-ginger tea. I just love this place. It's has a "It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood" vibe to it Super sweet staff. Got delicious lattes and pastries. AND they had the cutest pop up book shop on site (Shout out to The Young Dreamers' Bookstore) so I bought two for my nephew while I was there. What a great eatery and work space! Convenient street parking, order at the register (with divider), pay with card (no cash!), staff will bring out your food. The menu is varied. For my first visit I chose the southwest chicken wrap, which came grilled like a panini. That's the trick: the cheese was melty and so delicious! For dessert I hemmed and hawed between the chocolate-covered strawberry and peach smoothies. Since it's summer, I went with the peach, and I was not disappointed. Clean open space with plenty of windows for natural light while eating and/or working to jazzy tunes. Didn't stay long enough to check out the bathrooms this time. Staff were masked, most patrons were not, although I didn't sense any hostility that we wore masks. Will be back! Nota bene: This is actually a 4.5-star review that I rounded up, due to the air conditioning being quite strong. I stopped by here earlier today with my wife for our morning coffee. We decided to go to Everyday Cafe because it was one of the few places left on the Pittsburgh Coffee Passport which we had yet to try. The inside of the cafe is welcoming, bright and very open. The floor is tile but looks like hardwood and the whole room is done in soothing earth tones. On one wall there are some interesting black and white pictures with captions and then the coffee counter is in the back. One thing that they make sure to note here is that they only take cards and things like Apple Pay/Samsung pay and they do not accept cash. For our coffee on this morning my wife and I both decided on getting cappuccinos. The coffee here ended up being decent but my cappuccino reminded me more of a strong latte than a cappuccino. By that I mean that it was very milk centric (whole milk based on the taste) and I didn't get too much of the coffee. What I did get was decent enough and nothing about the drink itself was inherently bad, it just wasn't exactly what I was expecting nor wanted. It was the same for my wife and she ended up tossing most of her coffee and we got her a different one elsewhere. The bottom line for me is that I would like to head back here again in the future to try it again. While my coffee wasn't exactly what I wanted, the employees were nice and the space pretty cool. read more

I was walking one day and happened to see this small little cafe and decided to give it a try! I grabbed a coffee and a cup of broccoli cheddar soup to go. The coffee was good; not anything special but definitely would order again if I stopped by again. The soup, however, was amazing!! Absolutely loved it. It was just the right amount of creamy. Great place to study! They had TONS of tables and space, and didn't mind that I sat there for a few hours. It did get quite crowded, even on a Tuesday morning! I got the cappuccino, but they also had Commonplace coffee if that's your favorite. Milk options were almond, soy, or whole! They had lots of sandwiches and pastries to choose from too- I'll try one next time! I loved that they had a handy chart right by the register of what each espresso drink is (see photo). Finally a really good coffee shop option north of Penn Ave in the east. I've been here a few times now and I like it a lot. First and foremost the coffee is high quality, I believe they brew Commonplace blends here which are great. Second there's plenty of seating, reliable wifi, and table space for studying and/or small gatherings. Great place for productivity. Also the atmosphere is kind of old school and jazzy, very relaxed ambiance. The decor is well done. The food menu is limited like most coffee shops, but what they have is good fare for breakfast and lunch. Sandwich and salad ingredients are super fresh. Looking for new place for lunch and found the Everyday Cafe. We loved this place. I had the special Margherita flatbread. This was made with fresh ingredients from the local farm. The tomatoes bursted with flavor. The serving was big and could have taken some home but it was so good I had to finish it. My friend had the chicken salad sandwich which was served on big flaky croissant. Very fresh. My other friend ate the grilled panini Italian. She continued to talk about the good flavor! Yummy Delish! Everything was fresh and delicious. We cannot wait to our next lunch out! The staff was so nice and helpful! The atmosphere was nice and comfortable. Coffee passport for the win! Came here over the weekend. Found parking right in front, and was super impressed with how much space this cafe has. Plenty of space to study, work, or just hang out and chat with a friend. They have food here and everything looked delicious. We both really liked our drinks, and I LOVED looking at the old pictures that they had hung up on the wall. It was really cool to read about some history of Pittsburgh/Homewood. My drinks are always delicious and I've tried several different lunch options that don't disappoint either. My only struggle is that it typically takes a good amount of time to get food or drink. This is such a lovely little cafe! It is also partnered with the Bible Center Church who provides a lot of great programming to help the community. I was able to visit Everyday Cafe for their World Cafe series. Which provided a lot of insight and entertainment about a new culture to me. The World Cafe series happens about every month. Each monthly event highlights a different region of the world. This month, I was able to attend their India event which was super fun! For $10, I was able to enjoy some catered food from Tamarind- Savoring India, watch a cooking demo by Popping Mustard Seeds and also watch a dance performance by Nandanik Dance Troupe. I am so happy that I came. Everyone there was very kind and hospitable. I really enjoyed my time here and plan to attend more events. read more

As I sipped my first Sweet Potato Pie Latte the dreary Pittsburgh sky suddenly passed and the sun shone bright on my face. Well not really because the sky here in fall stays dreary but I felt sunshine all over from the joy this drink induces. Words cannot describe how delicious it is but I will try. It knocks the pumpkin spice latte to the ground and claims its rightful place as the fall seasonal drink we all need. What is it's magic? I can't tell you but you need this in your life immediately. And did I mention how nice the staff are? Every time I've been there I've left with a smile on my face after talking to the lovely baristas, an experience not often had at cool coffee shops these days. My only sadness is the thought that this drink will only be available seasonally but I am certain Everyday Cafe will have an equally transcendent beverage for every season so I look forward to what I will discover next. read more

A gem in the beautiful Homewood neighborhood, just steps from the busway and a block from the business district. Everyday cafe has great views and plenty of natural light to contrast with the dark decor. It feels a bit like a bookshop. The menu is always changing and they tend to feature locally grown produce when possible. I like the waffleshot (espresso in a waffle cone), but I also enjoy a more traditional espresso drink like a latte here. It's a great place to study or catch up with a friend.
