Came here before a game at Fenway and the food was great! We had oysters and the lobster roll, and everything was very fresh. We actually sat at the bar (as we had no reservation) and Bill was very helpful assisting us pick oysters and gave great recommendations. The only small downside for me was portion size - the lobster roll was delicious but very small, but based on the price I'd expect a larger sandwich. Underwhelming for takeout. I ordered the brown butter lobster roll (GF) ($19), clam chowder ($16), and nori chips ($5). The portions were small at a big cost. I was excited to find a gluten free lobster roll so close to where we were staying. Compared to other lobster rolls I've had/seen there just wasn't much meat in it. The gluten free roll was very good though! The clam chowder was in a medium cup , but had a very watery base. It wasn't that nice creamy soup I was hoping for. The Nori chips were good and plenty to share with my significant other. I also tipped for takeout and saw they also charge a staff administration fee (5%), basically to tip the un-tipped staff (cooks). Which leaves me to wonder are they not paying their staff enough? This place was recommended to me by a friend who used to live in Boston. It's pricey but worth a visit. I came here with a friend on a Sunday game day for a quick lunch before first pitch. Upon arriving, we were asked if we had reservations (we did not) and ended up sitting at the bar (we didn't mind at first, it was just us two so we didn't want to take up a whole table). The bartender who also served us was either new or just super busy bc she was overwhelmed. The manager started managing her in front of us and suggested he take over part of what she was doing. She was nice though! Where we sat ended up being more cramped than usual bc right to my right was where drinks were placed after being made to be served to the rest of the restaurant so I was scared to make any sudden movements bc there would be waiters right behind me handling them. The tv was also randomly showing Mean Girls which I love but c'mon, show the baseball pregame show or at least something sports related...it's a bar. We got a flight of oysters all from MA and they were shucked upon ordering (could watch it being done). We also split a brown butter lobster roll that was tiny (we were told it was tiny) but we were going to snack at Fenway so it was fine. The oysters were amazing, fresh, salty, and it was cool to see where each one was caught around the area. The lobster roll was pure butter and lobster with no fluff around it, just meat. By the time we left, it was a packed house and we were glad we came right after opening hours. Came here on a recommendation for lobster rolls and also ended up getting New England clam chowder plus fries and Brussel sprouts. The hot brown butter lobster roll was luxuriously indulgent. The bread was pillowy with zero crunch, and the chunks of lobster were well bathed in the brown butter. I initially thought I'd split one, but ended up wanting one all to myself. It is more filling than it looks! The chowder was appropriately thick with clams and diced potatoes, and some ham bits. Pescatarians will be happy that the brussel sprouts use swordfish jerky instead of bacon, and it works perfectly! Fries were also well seasoned. So upon arrival, I was severely unimpressed. Lots of open tables and we were out on a wait list. Even though they said they didn't take reservations, multiple people were sat before us even though we'd been waiting longer. We finally moved our wait position to right in front of the hostess stand and she finally seated us. We both got the fish and chips and it was very tasty. Two of us came here for lunch today (7/31/24). I was in town for only a couple days, so I just Googled "lobster roll near me" and this was the closest place that came up. The restaurant setting is nice and clean. The service was okay. It was busy, as there was Red Sox game starting in a couple hours. Upon arrival they asked if we had a reservation, which we did not. They seated us at the window bar top, which was fine, even though they had a couple open tables (I assume they were for reservations). We ordered a cold lobster roll and a warm lobster roll. The rolls were far smaller than I expected and cost $19 each. I was actually expecting the roll to be at least twice the size. With that being said, the roll contained mostly lobster and not a lot of filler, which was nice. The lobster rolls tasted great. The fries ($5) were good and there was enough for two to share. It's been several years since I ordered a lobster roll in Boston. The price of $19 for such a small roll seemed high to me, but perhaps that's the going rate for the size. They bring your food out as if it's takeout however so if you want the nice food photos then you'll have to sit inside! Items we ordered (as of 9/2021). - Fish Sandwich - $13 - Very tasty fish that was very tender and had a great crunch to it. - The Eventide Cheeseburger - $13 - Great taste since you can really taste the beef. Sauce was good and I wish they put more of it on there! - French fries - $5 - Super crispy and they give you a lot for $5. We really enjoyed these. - Cole slaw - $5 - Not too bad. Not very sweet (if that's a turn off for anyone). - Fried Oyster Bun - $12 - The bun is extremely soft and fluffy. Very unique and has a great taste. Oyster was good as well. We went before a Sox game and ordered the soft-shell crab sandwich, big mistake! The crab was covered in a thick coating which turned dark brown after frying it too long, giving the dish an unacceptable flavor, the sauce they put on it detracts from the sandwich and does nothing to enhance the taste. Soft-shelled crabs have a delicate flavor that has to be enjoyed without too much additional coating, strange sauce or excessive deep frying. (Hint; light flour coating, pan fry in butter & oil for a few minutes each side and serve.) Eventide missed the mark on this one, please keep it off the menu and find someone who knows how to prepare a decent soft-shell! They have a contactless ordering system where you view the menu, select items, and pay directly on your phone. Our family's order was straightforward - brown butter lobster rolls all around, french fries, and wrapped up with brown butter soft serve. The lobster rolls were just as delectable as I remembered - I could eat the bun everyday! Also recommend getting the large lobster roll - its so delicious, you'll have no problem finishing! Their fries are extra crispy and a great side. And since brown butter is the secret sauce to their rolls, we expected the soft serve to be enjoyable as well - it did not disappoint. Worst customer service ever!! Last call for food at 8:45, last call's are for alcohol because of legal reasons, then they told my 87 year old mom she couldn't get more hot water for her tea because they where closing, this was the most offensive, rude and unprofessional way to treat guests, essentially considering our bill was north of $400, this place obviously has horrible leadership, food is good, service has always been been horrible, if they changed that they would be full all the time, in addition the 19% fee for kitchen is border line illegal if they are getting proper hourly wedges, guests can't afford 19% kitchen tip and 20% waiter tip, it's sneaky and unheard of, I'm sure if people noticed it more they would push back. We were just in Boston for Memorial Day weekend and we had the absolute BEST lobster roll at Eventide. The brown butter on the bun complemented the lobster delightfully without being too sweet. It is a small portion compared to other rolls but much, however it's much cheaper than other rolls as well. The clam chowder was very flavorful. Run, don't walk, to eventide in Fenway this month (nov 2022). Friends and I went to eventide for the first time because we saw our favorite restaurant's chef (Sarma. You gotta go to Sarma too) was doing a special on their menu so we naturally had to go. The special was the Armenian cheesesteak bao and it was SO GOOD and shockingly filling. Delicious and spicy and creamy. The bao from eventide is also so soft. We loved it. We also tried their lobster roll (delicious brown butter sauce) and chili crisp wings. I loved the wings. They were crispy and spicy. Highly recommend! This might be a slightly more pricey dinner but we really thought it was worth it. read more

The brown butter lobster roll is hands down the best lobster roll I've had. The lobster is tender and fresh. But the brown butter really brings it to a whole new level. The savory lobster pairs perfectly with the slightly sweet bread. The bread reminded me a bit of the bread bao buns are made of. It paired nicely with the kimchi. The acidity brightened up the lobster roll and helped cut some of the heaviness from the butter. It was also a good palette cleanser. However the lobster roll definitely doesn't NEED the kimchi, but I would recommend ordering it to try. It is important to note that calling their house made pickled vegetable side "kimchi" is misleading. This is not your traditional Korean kimchi, but nonetheless was still tasty. I would also recommend ordering at least 2 rolls as the portions are quite small. The service was fine, nothing standout and the ambiance was nice and casual. read more
