Wow, I am surprised to see the low rating on one my favorite nail salons in the Chicagoland area. Overall, I have only had a good experience at Evanston Nails. I am regular customer and come every 2-3 weeks. I now schedule an appointment, verus being a walk in due to wanting a popular nail tech. There has only being one time in my 1 year of being a regular that they could not serve me on a Saturday, but I had a time issue and should have scheduled. I tried this salon one day due to in being closer to my home than my prior nail salon and allowing walk-ins on Saturdays. They also do gel nails, dip (my fav) and acrylic, which I love. I will not say the nail tech that I schedule, but this person (they have both male and female nail techs) is amazing. My nails do not break or the paint does not peel. They take their time every time I book them, regardless if there is a appointment in back of me. I've never had to wait on my appointments as I try to schedule them a few days before and for a early time - like 10am. I now visit on the weekdays to ensure I can be seen by my preferred nail tech. I love it here. I've tried another place in nearby and I was not happy with my nails, nor did they last. I'm pretty hard on my nails, but do know a really good nail tech application can survive my treatment of the nails I get. read more

Both my husband and I love this salon! It's a few blocks away from us, which is perfect to walk to on a nice day. The staff is friendly, prompt, and knowledgable. The services are price comparatively to other nail salons in the area (of which I have tried many!). I've gotten gel nails, acrylics, and a dip manicure done at this salon and had a good experience each time. My husband has had an equally positive experience (and I'm personally happy that the staff is supportive and kind towards a guy wanting his nails done). I will definitely be going back. read more

New management is craaaazy! If you have nail polish on that lasts longer than the normal 2 day max (dazzle dry), they will charge you $10 to remove it. They treat it like it's a no-chip removal. They use a drill and all to remove it when all you need is nail polish remover because it's no different than regular nail polish, it just lasts a few days longer. Very asinine in my opinion and price gouging. The woman who did my nails did such a great job I may have to come back just because of how good she was. However, in this economy, they are ripping folks off. I get that it's a business and they have to make their money as well, but Jesus Christ! At least be fair. read more

I went for a pedicure. My big toe nails were cut so short and deep on the sides of my nails that I bled and my right toe became infected. I needed emergency medial care because the infection was so bad and spreading. I've been on anti biotic for over a week. I will never go here again. read more

Love this nail salon. It is my neighborhood nail salon that I go to monthly doe a dip manicure and regulat pedicure. Sometimes I upgrade my pedicure. My nail technician is Dolly. I. Fact, she was the first technician I had an appointment with and she did so well that i continued to book with her and no one else.. This establishment is professional, clean, and accessible. Parking is easy. My nails always come out great. I like that they take appointments and honor them and take me in time. Unlike many other nail salons, this establishment offers a wide array of color options for dip and no chip. Everyone is friendly. Tina the receptionist is always very helpful and kind. Overall, this is a great neighborly nail salon. They treat people with kindness, respect, and dignity. Highly recommend! read more

Will definitely go back EDIT: I've become a regular client & took my mom the other day for the 1st time since Covid closures. I felt completely comfortable. I had the absolute WORST experience with Evanston nails. It was my first time doing a DIP manicure, which is VERY EXPENSIVE at that location and after just ONE WEEK, my nails started coming off. I was at work, and one by one, they started to unglue and because they were hanging off my fingers, I had no choice but to take them off. I then called the nail salon to ask how long dip manicure is supposed to last with them because when I do it at other locations, it lasts 3 weeks. She said it last two weeks. I explained that I had only done it one week ago and they came off, she was then extremely rude saying that I'm the one who took it off because I didn't like the nail color. She was extremely defensive and refused to even hear me out. I will NEVER return to that nail salon. It was a complete WASTE OF MONEY. ZERO STARS!!! Bad service and bad customer service! read more

The man who did my nails rushed through the whole thing and when he was buffing it out I started to inspect My nails because I noticed that it was shaped wrong but not because of him but because my finger itself is crooked. So when I was looking at that he wanted to tell me out of his own mouth that 'he help me out, he did everything he could and that it was perfect.' Now look at the b.s. I'm not sure why I keep giving this place the opportunity to redeem themselves. Been here 3 times and there has always been an issue. No chip manicure lasted 1 week. Today I went in and was told I was going to have to wait 10 minutes. No problem. 30 minutes goes by. The person who quoted me 10 minutes did not check in with me, did not give me any indication that it would take more than 10 minutes of waiting. On top of that, they did not offer for me to look at the color options while I waited, I had to ask for them and then it seemed as though it was a big deal. I ended up handing back the color options to the front desk and leaving with no manicure. Terrible customer service, and their manicures aren't much better either. My suggestion, go elsewhere. read more

Because it was my birthday I decided to get my lashes done, asked a few questions regarding the process, care, removal etc. my eyelids feel very irritated and have tried everything to get them off including going to an actual lash bar but was told they didn't want to touch a nail shops work because was unsure of what was used OMG!!!!I've been calling over a week to have the lashes removed, but kept being told they didn't have the solution to remove them so finally I called and was told to come in but once I got there was asked if I was getting them put back on I explained I wasn't, the three people in the shop starting talking their language, the lady explained she would not take them off and told me to go home and use vaseline. Once again these businesses come into the community with no disregard for the people they provide the service to. I am currently putting together a PROTEST over the course of a week. read more

This was my go to nail salon because it is 2 blocks away from my house. They always did an ok job until I went someplace else and I realized they are not that good. While I never wait that long for my fill in they always seem rushed, like they just want to get to the next customer to make more money. I get a gel fill with gel polish and the last few times they didnt paint them on very well with the polish being transparent and leaving huge bubbles. There are repeat customers with favorite manicurists so maybe if you have a specific tech (which I never had) they do them better to keep your business. read more

They are a bit too drill happy for my taste. Drilling weakens the nail bed, so when your nails grow the areas that have been thinned down by the drill will break. This doesn't promote nail growth, it hinders it. read more

First experience was horrible and won't be going back. I went in for a mani/pedi. The same person did both and throughout he was super rough. He hurt two of my fingers so badly that I was bleeding for 15 minutes. The owner waived my manicure payment and the guy apologized couple of times, which I appreciate. The girl, who I think was named Li or Lee, was friendly, sociable and fun to talk to. Lately, I have left some salons with cuticles that were sore for days due to too much snipping around. I don't like factory nail salons. What is that? A place that takes walk-ins over appointments. I know nail salons have down time, and it stands to reason that they would want to take a customer if they have time. I have no problem with that. What I do have a problem with, however, is places that take all walk ins, regardless of appointments. I called Evanston Nails to see if I could go in for a pedicure in the next 5 minutes, and the gentleman who answered said no, they were very very busy. I thanked him and was about to hang up, when he said "you can come in 20 minutes?" I said yes, gave him my name, and said I would be there in 20 minutes. When I arrived 22 minutes later, I was told it would be a 30 minute wait because of walk-ins. Nope. That's what I get for cheating on my regular salon. Never again. read more

The guy thought that because I didn't want my fourth and fifth toes separated that I didn't want them painted, so I looked down and my toes weren't finished when he said "All done." NOT WORTH IT I've been to this salon three times (including the one I'm talking about) Not my go to nail salon, but it's so close to my house. I stopped in on Saturday around 5/6pm for a no chip manicure. The tech was super nice and professional. I did notice that the tools she used were not in a sterile pouch. They were already on table. Monday morning I woke up and noticed my nail bed was red and tender. I didn't really pay attention to it, figured it would go away. Tuesday morning my nail/finger was still red and it hurt. When i pushed on my nail it was very painful, making it painful to type at work. Wednesday i woke up and immediately realized something was wrong. My hand felt heavy, I look down and my finer is super swollen purple/red and my pain is going from the nail bed all the way down my finger. I show up to work but cannot type, I ask to leave to go to the doctor because at this point I'm concern since the pain got worse and is going down my finger. I make an apt at the doctor and decide to call the nail salon. The guy on the phone is so rude!!! I was not rude at all! I was calling to speak to the manager, he said no. He asked what i needed and I told him iI wanted to speak to the manager. He asked what for and I told him what was going on. He told me the manager was no there and he didn't know when she was coming in. I asked if he would be able to take my information down and have the manager/owner call me. He replied "NO" that's it. I told him that I believe i might have gotten an infection from the tools uses. He stated that was not possible because they have a sterilizer. I told him that was not the case with the tools used on me. I saw the woman grab the tools from the table. That's not sterile. I told him I had to go to the doctor and he said that's fine because they have lawyers and insurance. I was getting no where with this guy so I hung up and went to the doctor. I got prescribed antibiotics ($10) paid my $25 copay and missed half a day at work. After picking up my medication I drive to the nail salon. I ask to speak to the manager. She didnt really say much except that it wasnt their fault. because i probably just hit my nail on something. MMM NO! I would remember if I did, and my whole finger would be in pain or swollen from the start. Everything started around my nail bed where they cut your cuticles!!! she said she would have to contact the owner. and he would submit paper work. I asked how long this will take because i want them to pay for everything i spent and I want a refund. She stated it would take a "long long time" I told her I didn't want to wait that long. So i asked her to have Kyle the manager call me asap. She started walking away and I asked her if she would need my contact info so i can be reached. She said yes. So i rote it all down and left. I left there not thinking anything will get done. So I figured I will write a review. I will also be filing with BBB. They are rude and nasty. read more
