There was no time to give feedback and make corrections, so it's probably better to make an appointment earlier in the day. My dress was an ivory color so I asked for French ombré and they made it so my nails looked like pearls. Loved the effect of the powder! They were playing love is blind in the shop so it was a nice distraction while they were doing my manicure. The nail technician was very detailed about getting all my dead skin. I'm so torn because my pedicure left my feet smoother than I've ever had :( but I don't know if I can come back. The girl who did my nails was super nice. First visit and my manicure chipped within 24 hours. I also was creeped out because I'm used to having sterilized tools that come out of packages and I couldn't see where she was grabbing the tools from/how they were cleaned. Great atmosphere. Very clean, with captioned Netflix on silent on the TVs and pop music playing. My actual mani/pedi, however, was a mixed experience. Initially, I was paired with an older woman with glasses. She used a drill on the edges of my nails and cuticles, rather than cleaning them up manually, which I worry will make them even weaker when my no-chip polish is removed. Both my no-chip manicure and regular pedicure were filled "outside the lines" - with polish on my cuticles and skin. This caused the no-chip to begin cracking and peeling at the edges almost immediately when I washed my hands. I'm a bit scared what my toes will look like when they start to grow out. I also requested a polish for my toes that would match my choice of no chip polish, but they ended up being noticeably different neutrals - pink on my hands, neutral skin tone peach on my toes. Because they use digital checkout system, and the suggested tip amounts visible to the manicurist are 20%, 22%, and 25%, I felt pressured to tip 20% on a $75 service, for $90 total. A few days later, after returning from an out of town wedding, I went back and requested they at least re-do the no chip manicure. I've never done this before, but couldn't justify the cost for the end result. I was assigned a different woman for the re-do, and the quality was much better - inside the lines, with some care paid to cleaning up the edges. (Still ended up with some polish on my fingertips and hands, but I was able to wash that off without damaging my nails.) If you go to Eva Nails, be mindful of who you are paired with, and don't be afraid to speak up throughout the service if it's missing the mark. I have yet to find the right balance of cleanliness, quality polish job, and cost in downtown Evanston, but I'll keep searching. read more

Don't try to go here for a dip manicure, they have VERY few color offerings, and were rude about it. I just wanted a basic bright red dip manicure and they literally didn't have red. I had made a dip appt 2 days in advance and when I showed up they said they mostly do gel manicures and have very few dip offerings. I couldn't switch because I'm traveling abroad and gel chips and lifts on me in 2 weeks and I'm gone for 4. The woman at the counter told me I should have asked how many dip colors they had when I called to make the appointment, and that's the reason I'm writing this poor review and why I walked out. When you book a client for a service that you don't really perform often and have a limited menu for, that's YOUR responsibility to mention at booking. read more

Really awful dip manicure. Took an hour and a half almost, too. My nails are not shiny, plus they are lumpy and uneven. This is the nail salon right by my apartment and I love it so much! Highly recommend you go there! They do such a great job and are so friendly. Always hang up my jacket and pull out my seat for me to sit down. They also have dazzle nail polish which is faster drying and vegan and I always get it and it lasts for weeks!! Clean, quiet and very polite but I was marked as soon as I walked in. Lots of changing tech's and I got the Inexperienced one. I asked for a manicure and a pedicure, when she started The pedicure she was very timid, all the way through the entire process, and when I asked to have the bottom of my feet cleaned they said it was an up charge of $10. She massaged my legs and feet for 20 minutes to eat up the time. I was very frustrated. At that point, I decided to skip the polish, pay the full amount and tip three dollars. I somehow called the number for the salon that used to be at this location through Apple maps requesting a walk-in, but they kindly fit us in within 10 minutes and took their time with us. The basic pedicure is everything you'd expect and then some, and my mom loved her manicure after having her no-chip removed. The staff are always super friendly and go out of their way to make sure you are pleased with the treatment. They recently introduced online scheduling which is very convenient.
