I had never been here before! I thought it was a nail place. My kids gave me a gift certificate and I chose a Facial with microdermabrasion. Anna really knows what she is doing. The products she uses are so nice. I have sensitive skin and everything felt amazing. My daughter had a deep tissue massage and a spa pedicure. She loved her massage and her toes looked super professional! Anna sent us home with a little bag of facial product to try. So lovely! Yes, go! read more

They are very sweet here. Great atmosphere and have never had a bad experience here. Massage, nails and my monthly facial with Nancy is amazing! Love the staff too!! read more

I've been coming here for years for pedicures and the occasional massage. It is clean, warm and inviting. Everyone who works here is lovely and professional. Highly recommend! You can't tip on a credit card, so be sure to bring cash or use Zelle to tip the ladies! read more

My hubby and I have been coming here for over a year and are regulars for deep tissue massages with Dallas, he's amazing! First found him looking for maternity massage and it was such a blessing. Now as our baby gets bigger, the deep tissue massages help our tired muscles! Lovely room, cozy, very clean and professional. Highly highly recommend Dallas! read more

Eden Agora and the team is lovely but I'm disappointed with my Dazzle Dry manicure. Not many salons offer Dazzle Dry. It's fast drying and should be able to last 7-10 days--if you apply it correctly. There's a whole system, which I just learned Eden Agora may not be using correctly--which is likely why my DD mani (extra $) chipped after 2 days. :( read more

Natalia is highly recommended for any massage therapy needs!!! I went to Eden Agora for postpartum back pain and she has helped tremendously to work on the pain in my back. She was able to relax and relieve the tendons and muscles along the spine, as well as provide the right pressure I needed. I highly recommend asking for Natalia here!! Thank you! read more

I had a nice massage here although honestly I fell asleep for most of it. I was an overtired mom of a 6 month old that would not so it didn't take much to relax me! My ultimate frustration though is with their gift card policy. My husband gifted me a $200 voucher. I had to cancel my appointments because of Covid and whatnot. Unfortunately the voucher expires after a year and the spa would not honor it. No exceptions. So lesson learned is don't buy gift cards unless you can guarantee you'll use it right away. Or find a business that is more accommodating and does not blame their payment system for their self imposed policies. read more

My teenagers loved their first facials with Inga. The spa is tranquil and the staff are professional and friendly. I highly recommend!

Agora Spa had been my place to go until yesterday, I went to have a massage with Linda as a treat for my birthday. A couple of hours after the message I got such a big bruise on my butt and pain, I couldn't sleep all night then I went to the place next morning to see what was wrong and how to take care of it. To my surprise all staff 4-5 employees were very rude treating me as trash, screaming in front of customers claiming that was my fault because they assumed that I had an underlying health condition and I was wasting their time. Just to let you know that my doctor asked me to get a massage for my sciatic nerve and go swimming after I have done MRI, Ulrasound, and complete blood test plus many other tests. When I texted him the photo of the bruise he said that this massage was very harsh and who ever did it was unprofessional, it would take many weeks to get your ruptured tissues to heal. People working at this place are angels when you go and pay money to get a service then become Monsters when they make a mistake. read more

A massage therapist who does not speak english! What a horrible experience. Cannot state what you need!!

Simple spa, relaxed atmosphere and wonderful staff! Many of the women working there are recently here from Ukraine and deserve our support and patronage. Future gave me my massage and mani/ pedi. All we're perfect and thoroughly enjoyable. She's a lovely person, still learning English and is sweet and friendly. I'll be going back! read more

Had a wonderful hot stone massage with Nancy and really enjoyed it. It was certainly an experiment suited for the cold winter day. I will come back for a facial next week (apparently are Nancys specialty)... will report back! read more

Maybe the worst mani/pedi I have ever had. Went in for a mani/pedi the day before I got married, with my mom. Her nails turned out great and still looked nice 5 days later. Mine on the other hand.... I removed the nail polish when I got home because it wasn't on consistently (blotchy) and I had to refile my nails because they were misshapen and jagged/rough on the edges. I mentioned while still there the issue with the nail polish and she just put an extra coat of clear top coat on top. Not sure how that wouls fix anything. My pedicure polish was done better, but she did virtually no work on my feet. She massaged them, took of my old polish, and put on the new. No clipping or filing if any kind happened. I was not impressed and won't be going back, even though this place is literally 5 min. from my home. read more

I've been coming here for 3 years. Every tech I've had has a done a great job. The salon is clean, nail techs are friendly and NO blaring TVs (no TVs at all), something I truly appreciate. read more

I went in today for a facial, I don't treat myself very often but since my husband gave me a gift card, it thought I'd use it. The facial was amazing, Nancy was my aesthetician, she was very attentive, walked me through everything that she was going to do and how to take care of my skin going forward. I was sold!! I was going to commit to once a month with her and I couldn't wait to tell my friends how amazing she was!! Then it was time to check out, I presented my fifty dollar gift card and was informed that they no longer take gift cards since the business was sold to a new owner 4 months ago. The new owner proceeded to argue with me and was not going to do anything to make this right. It's a shame, I really want local businesses to succeed. She missed out on a loyal customer as well as the business of all my friends( who I will tell of my experience and I'm sure they will tell others about my experience) all for the sake of a $59 facial that I had to pay for out of pocket. read more

I had a good experience with face waxing here, but it didn't seem like the staff was well trained in body waxing. I had scheduled my appointment with one aesthetician (Anna), but when I arrived she said she'd be more comfortable if another person did my service (presumably because she didn't know how to body wax). Nancy was the person who did my service. She was very kind and knowledgeable about face waxing, she even used some facial tools to calm some of the redness and tried to up sell me to come in for a monthly facial like another reviewer posted. However, the French bikini wax she did looks uneven, and was awkwardly done in comparison to her face waxing. I will maybe come back for other beauty services since it's close to my house and Nancy does seem great at facials, but will continue all waxing at the benefit on Sherman where the staff seems more experienced with body waxing and prices are comparable. read more

I thought a french bikini was a landing strip in the front and waxing the rear. NO all that was performed was a bikini wax that went in a little on the sides. PLUS she took 35 minutes! ALSO I let the technician know that I had sensitive skin yet she proceeds to use 3-4 bottles of these concoctions on my bikini area and not tell me their purposes. ALSO things got a little "handsy". I'm sorry but the middle of my vaginal is not apart of the waxing procedure so why are you fingers going across that area repeatedly. When I told my boyfriend about my experience he thought it was hilarious that I could have gotten a "happy ending". Whatever that was I don't want this experience again! read more

This place is really worth every penny. The first time I stopped in to ask questions I thought they were being rude to me, but I was mistaken. There are people here who aren't from a hotel/southern type of background, so, you're not going to get coddled 'verbally', conversation when you are booking, etc, MIGHT be sparse, NOT because these are rude woman, quite the contrary, these are exceptionally kind woman who care about you and doing a good service. It's because there are cultural differences, and they tend to be sparse in their language, or quieter than a lot of people are used to. They are concentrating on what they're doing, most of the time. They really do care that you're there, and they do want to help you get what you need. So don't expect a cheerleader to greet you and take your bags when you walk in the door! Do expect wonderful, professional service and kind treatment! This is by far the best service, treatment, and mani-pedi I've received in all of Chicagoland, and I've tried out many locations. My husband works nearby so for me, it's very convenient. I think I would continue to come here even if he relocated back to the city. The touch-ups are a blessing! The prices are actually reasonable for the amazing work they do. The color choices are just perfect. Not once have I ever felt embarrased after leaving my worn out cuticles for way too long. I work with my hands a lot and it shows. They give attentive massages with good products that never irritate my skin, which is something I generally experience at every salon or spa I go to. Give them a try, you won't want to go anywhere else when you're done! read more

So sad to have to write this review... My husband and I have been loyal clients of Agora spa for over three years. We would book couples massages about once every couple months, Swedish and/or deep tissue. Today we had massages booked at 2:30. One masseuse came out almost right away, and asked who wanted to go first, and I did. Little did I know that my husband ended up sitting there for 20 minutes, before his masseuse came out. The girl at the desk didn't seem to care that almost half his time was up. When he asked if he could get a prorated massage for the remaining time, he was told he'd have to pay full price. The part that perplexes me is why his masseuse was 20 minutes late. They told him the lady in the previous massage had to go to the bathroom. So, if I'm ever late for my massage (which I have been), I don't get that time tacked onto the end. I lose it, but I still pay full price. I was the one who was late. Likewise, if I have to go to the bathroom during my massage, I lose that time and don't get it back. We are left wondering then, why this lady had an extra 20 minutes? Why did her bowel movement take precedent over our appointment? Wouldn't the masseuse end the massage at the scheduled time, regardless of how long this lady had to poop? And... Why did they make this our problem? I was livid when I got out of my massage... Our time was wasted. I asked for some kind of discount (they so politely cancelled my husband's appointment, at no charge). No apologies. No admitting any wrong. The girl at the desk had the gall to tell my husband that he "should've said something!" Um, he did, and they pretty much ignored him. The ignorance and incompetence didn't stop there. I asked the girl to call the manager or owner or whom ever. She was shocked that I wanted her to actually... Call. That didn't go anywhere, so I asked if I could talk to them. Dude gets on the phone, I introduce myself and say hello. I get a caveman like grunt of a "hi" in a response. I had to ask him to tell me his name three times. I asked very politely. Finally Brian listens to what I had to say, and his response was, "I gotta take care of my employees." Didn't seem concerned his employees fucked up royally. He never even actually apologized! So sad to have to take our business elsewhere, the masseuses work hard and do a really good job. I did manage to get a 10% discount, but only Brian told me he'd "have to talk to (his) wife." read more

Agora Spa is a great little neighborhood spa. It is calm and incredibly clean and for a little bit more, you can be confident that their tools and supplies have all been completely sanitized -- which is my biggest worry with getting a mani or pedi at one of the cheaper places around town. I'm a regular here and get a pedicure done every 3 weeks with Irena. She is always really nice and upbeat and gives me a pedicure that is not only gorgeous but doesn't chip (not even from dancing, the beach, flip flops) until my next visit. The reason I gave three stars is because I have tried some of the other services such as the massage and felt that although it was decent, for the price they were really lacking the whole "spa" experience. The therapist wasn't very personable and they basically get you in and out, which is a little disappointing for such an expensive service. So, -- two thumbs up for a CLEAN, highly attentive and meticulous mani/pedi experience but would probably go elsewhere for a massage or more spa-like experience. Also -- you're best off calling and making an appointment in advance if you know what therapist you want. read more

Got my eyebrows and nails done. My appointment began only a few minutes late and the technician was extremely friendly and she did a great job in my both my eyebrows and nails. The nail polish may have been a bit old as it's a bit streaky but it looks good from a far. They offered a 10% off deal for new clients so without tip the eyebrows and manicure only cold $30! I would definitely go back and would recommend them to friends. read more

So I am split on my experience about Agora. On one hand I was referred by a friend who loves it and it right around the corner from my house. It is also very nice and clean/relaxing. On the other I came in and was 5 minutes early for my appointment (did not know it, though) and the receptionnist just kind of coldly / rudely showed me the clock and told me "you have 5 more minutes". No "please take a seat someone will be right with you..." or such. Then I waited 15 minutes. The lady that took care of my waxing (eyebrow/lip) was very nice and service was good. However, I am not greatly happy with result. I like my eyebrow to look "naturally" perfect and clean, meaning I want the stylsit to work with the way my hair goes and the arch and not cut a premade shape that makes it obvious i just got my eyebrows done. I told her but she did not get it. On top of that I feel like my eyes are totally bruised. I can't touch my lids or eybrow because I am in very mcuh pain, It is super sensitive and I never felt like this after a wax. Lip wax looks best that I ever had though. and it was FAST. Result: wanted to like it but dont think I will be back. or only for emergency lip waxing Edit: I am ading a star cause Ihave been back since a few times. I am recurrent customer for waxing. They dont always do great job but I can never remember who i liked or did not :) the service has gotten much better and they are convenient. I am glad they are around the corner and always have an opening. read more

Run by rude and inconsiderate owners with an incompetent desk staff. The massages I've had here where pretty good and their masseuses work hard, but my wife and I could no longer go here after all this disorganization. Coming in for a massage should be a relaxing experience, not an afternoon chore! The staff doesn't care and nor do the owners, so why should you. My recommendation, go somewhere else and save some money. read more

This is not my first YELP! review of Sara, massage therapist. I write again because her excellent skills just continue to constantly improve. She does not just work upon a client, she works WITH a client, to address a client's discomforts and ailments. Her very strong, but gentle, techiques really assist me in relieving mental stress and physical aches. And, I feel the affect even days later. I am very glad that she is a brilliant new addition to the North Shore, in such a comforting and welcoming day spa. Steven H. Jesser, Glenview. read more

This little spa is a hidden oasis, the services are excellent for the price. Helen Villalobos does facials and waxing, special request her for a marvelous experience. From getting me tea or water to making sure I am comfortable and most importantly satisfied. Thank you Helen and Agora Spa. read more

Wow a spa that's NOT Asian...not that there's anything wrong with that! Hey I can say it, I'm Asian but this spa certainly is a nice change from the spas where the workers speak their language and you don't know whether they're dissing you or not...oh but I digress, back to Agora, this place is great. It's clean, relaxing, and the staff here are super nice, efficient, and do great mani pedis! Once you get beyond the somewhat Eastern European "coldness" everything else is all good! Try it comrade, you vill like! read more

I went in for a full arm wax and was decently happy with the result. The technician offered to "clean up" my eyebrows quickly afterwards for no extra charge. Nothing special, just 2-3 minutes. WRONG! She proceeds to completely reshape them and make them pencil-thin and uneven! When I complained to the manager they accused me of stealing because I wasn't charged for the service and then defended the obviously ridiculous result. I'm furious and will NEVER come back! read more

I started going to Agora soon after it opened because I was tired of the abysmal service at Egea from the management. Helen's been doing my pedicures since then and she's fabulous. Not only does she do a great job, but she's one of the most personable and caring professionals I've frequented. After years of going for pedicures I started seeing Helen for facials and she's just as talented at that. read more

4.5 stars for mani/pedi - I was happy to see this place in my neighborhood. I've gone there numerous times in the past few months. The prices are very reasonable, the staff very friendly. The spa pedicure is very pleasant, I recommend it. The French manicure, by Ibolya especially, is exceptional. I've had numerous people comment on my French mani. And these aren't people I discuss my nails with, they just notice and comment. Highly recommended! read more

Can someone tell me why I've never gotten a facial at Agora Spa until recently? I've been missing out. I love Irina, not just for her skills, but because she is so kind, encouraging, and positive. I can walk in feeling the stresses of life, and after time with her, I leave feeling like I can conquer the world. Back to the facial. I had the 1 hour classic facial. The lighting in the room was soft and the music was soothing. I was comfortable from beginning to end. Irina explained each stage of the facial and made sure I was relaxed and enjoying it. She took her time and was really engaged in what she was doing. I can't recommend her enough. Thank you, Irina! read more

I was thrilled when Agora opened up. It is pleasant, peaceful and very clean. As an added bonus, it is also just up the street from where I live. After going to Nail Bar in downtown Evanston, it was so nice to have a spa that didn't feel like an assembly line. I have mani/pedis at Agora frequently and am always very pleased. As with any spa, you will probably find some technicians better than others, and I do have my favorites. The owner is often on site and has even accommodated me on a walk-in basis once or twice. They are always very friendly and I have only had to wait once. Agora is a very welcome addition to the neighborhood. read more

I get massages at Agora, my mother gets her nails done here. I will never get a massage anywhere else unless someone gives me a gift certificate (that includes the tip) to another salon. Then I would go back to Agora and feel guilty about cheating on Barbara. This is not the "cucumber water, fluffy terrycloth robe, and overpriced sales pitch for products at the end of the overpriced massage," place. Agora Spa is impecably clean, the staff is professional, and all their services are more than reasonably priced. The massage therapists I have seen are attentive to my individual needs. On a rare occasion I have had to wait a few minutes, but usually I am shown right to the massage room. I typically schedule with Barbara, but I have enjoyed my massages from any therapist who has worked with me. I highly recommend Agora Spa. read more

Upon entering, I was greeted right away and led to a room in the back. My appointment was for waxing and since my very first concern was the cleanliness of a salon, i looked around a bit when she left me to prepare. Very clean white carpet, hand sanitizer, careful organization of their products. Not a bottle out of place. Adrianna did a great job. She was quick and made the whole session as painless as possible. Super happy that the salon was very hygienic. read more

The massage and facial services were great. The manicurist cut a little too close and I had some sore spots on my fingers, but they looked good! The reason I gave three stars is that there is no place to relax between services. Other spas have comfy couches or chaise lounge chairs, water with lemon or cucumber, saunas, and showers. This place only had some chairs by the window and it was COLD up front! I would go back for a massage or a facial, but I wouldn't expect the 'spa' treatment. read more

Agora is a very clean spa and I would highly recommend coming in for a mani/pedi. I loved all of the work I've had done here. On a regular basis I come to have my eyebrows tinted/waxed and eyelashes tinted with Helen and she is just outstanding. The color lasts until the hair falls out and is replaced by new hair--no fading. She is very kind and takes a lot of pride in what she does. Beautiful work, I would never go to anyone else. read more

I just had one of the best massages in my life... a 90 minute Swedish by a therapist named Izabella. She massaged even my ears and scalp... a great mini-reflexology interlude was also included. Hot towels and fragrant oils, pleasant music, and several naps later I am so relaxed that I am surprised I made it home. The facility isn't fancy, but it's very clean and pleasantly decorated. Next time I go I will also try a mani-pedi. Highly recommended. read more

After over five years I'm still going to Agora. Magda only works on the weekends so I have to plan in advance when I want to go but that's not a huge deal. Agora Spa is a sweet little oasis on Main Street in Evanston, steps from charming boutiques, coffee shops and restaurants. The staff could be a bit more knowledgeable about Pevonia products but their services are above average when compared to high end (Spa at the Four Seasons, Bliss Spa) and bargain basement nail salons that dot the city. Facials are effective and relaxing. The technicians are skilled and professional (from the 3 I have tried). Manicures and pedicures are expertly done. I have had a better mani/pedi here than I had at the Four Seasons Spa in Chicago. read more
