tl;dr? -Great customer service…read more-Nice, clean, comfortable -Amazing massage I purchased a groupon for the one hour massage - originally $90, I paid $40. I scheduled my appointment for what I thought was Feb. 26th, though it turned out I had a communication error with the receptionist, and was scheduled for March 26th. When I showed up to my supposed Feb. 26th appointment, they were very apologetic, and allowed me to reschedule as well as give me credit for an additional hour long massage in the future! That was very nice of them! So this past Saturday I received my first massage with Kim. I've had a few professional massages in the past, but this one blew them all away. It was amazing. When you first arrive you are offered hot tea or water. The waiting room is small, and the whole facility is very quiet and calm. I did not have to wait very long before Kim brought me back. She was so kind and reassuring, I felt very comfortable with her. She talked to me about any problem areas I wanted to work on, etc, and then gave me ample time to use the restroom and undress. The massage rooms are small and relaxing. There was a humidifyer, and the room was very warm. They played soft background music. The lights were very dim and comfortable on the eyes. Even the massage table was amazing - it had a very soft mattress. Kim did an amazing job. I literally felt all knots and stress leave my neck/shoulders. They just melted away. I received the full hour massage, and felt no discontent at the end. I was relaxed and happy and feeling good! I cannnot speak for the other therapists, but if they are anything like Kim, you will be in good hands! I was given a complimentary water on my way out. I cannot wait to schedule my complimentary massage!

My boyfriend and I booked a couples massage on Sunday. We enjoy getting massages together and have…read morebeen looking for a place that offers couples massages. We left extremely disappointed. We booked deep tissue massages. My masseuse used way too much lotion, didn't apply any pressure and just aggressively rubbed oil onto my body. At one point, she intended to apply pressure to the arch of my feet (which are sensitive due to my plantar fasciitis) but her nails were not short so it felt more like being scratched. No one introduced themselves to us, they walked in while we were undressing without knocking or warning. During our massages, a bell kept going off. My masseuse walked out of the room 3 times, talking to someone about other clients. If I had been there alone, I would have walked out. This was the worst massage I've ever had. We will stick to VRC in Skokie. At least we receive quality massages.

The therapists were talking to each other at full volume the whole time, even after being asked to be quiet. Staff were arguing with customers at the front desk, people were constantly coming and going, and another customer was playing video games on their phone at full volume. I normally visit the Art of Health in Lincolnwood but when I learned of another location in…read moreEvanston, I decided to check them out. When I made a walk in appointment, I was introduced to Anna and Vivian. I was told by both ladies they accept walk-ins and scheduled appointments. I scheduled my massage for later in the week and looked forward to my session. I've made multiple visits to this chain and the massages they provide here are just as good as the Lincolnwood location, if not better. The Tui Na style of massage uses a firm amount of pressure. If you're not accustomed to this style, you may want to tell your therapist to go easy on you. So far I've made two trips to this location and every massage I've received has been phenomenal. I have caught myself snoring multiple times during my sessions. I've realized if someone can push me to that level of relaxation, they've earned high marks in my book. Every time I leave, I feel relaxed and sedated. I'm guessing it's from the post massage high I get after releasing all tension/knots from my body. This chain has attractive pricing. It's roughly a dollar per minute which signals good value for a quality massage. I posted a review for the Lincolnwood location, and I'm assuming their setups are similar. The ambiance is informal given there are no private rooms for table or chair massages. Everything is all set up in one room. If your priority is solely about the ambiance; this might not be the place for you. Rather the focus here is the quality and decent cost of the massage. There is a bit of a language barrier so conversations are kept to a minimum but the staff understands some English to get by. Adjusting to the situation takes some getting used to. My last massage was a 75 minute table and post session, I was given a bottle of water. The parking situation is a little tough compared to the Lincolnwood facility. The Evanston Art of Health only has metered parking. Despite the minor inconvenience, this spot is closer to home so I plan to make this my regular stop.

I made an appointment online for an hour foot massage, when I arrived I was only asked "30 minutes or an hour" I assumed they knew I was coming and just said "hour." I was surprised to be taken to a room without footbaths...just figured that maybe they had changed things? Anyways, I don't enjoy deep tissue or heavy massages but I kept thinking while he was massaging "the foot part is coming I'm sure" ... it never did. It was a good massage but not what I had expected. Checking out is when I realized I was given the 70 dollar deep tissue instead of the 48 dollar foot massage. I did express my disappointment/ confusion and they took off 9 dollars. Anyways if you do go make sure you point at the menu at what you want and repeat it. If you made an online appointment don't assume they even looked at it.

I've been coming here for 2-3 years and the level of quality has remained consistent, the rooms are clean, peaceful, and dinner with lighting and music to reflect and promote a truly relaxing atmosphere. The med spas charging $120+ are shameful as I realized that the level of mastery does not even come close to what they premise: $70/1 hour deep tissue massage and I walk out of here feeling like a new person. Upon arrival there is a tall staircase in order to enter the business. Though this wasn't a problem for us, keep in mind if you have any disabilities. They also make you take your shoes off and slip into slides. Once again no big deal, but bring socks. Upon actually entering the waiting area, they had my husband pay right away, which I thought was a huge red flag. In all the massages we've had, we've never paid first. There was also a 3% fee for using a card despite our total being over $200+. We get into the room, located right by the entrance and it is freezing. My husband's bed was warmed, however mine was not. I have never seen or heard of a heated massage table, but with a drafty window a portable heater would have solved this issue. When the two massage therapists entered they did not greet themselves and started saying something in another language. Mine asked me light or strong. I told her medium as that is what I have always requested from other locations. After that she noticed the bed wasn't warmed, attempted to fix it, but it was broken: WE WERE NOT ASKED OR INFORMED we were getting a DEEP tissue massage. Considering what a deep tissue massage entitles, they also did not ask other important questions like areas of concern or injuries. The massage started with some oil and hot stones and quickly progressed to pain. All I kept thinking was what type of massage did my husband book. I grimaced, flinched, and yelped in pain. My person's only response was "oh you're sensitive" and she continued at the same strength/depth. 90% was jamming her elbow into every possible pressure point and directly into my bones. This was not only the most painful massage I have ever had, but the second most painful and traumatic experience in my life; internal bleeding being my number one. I have a high pain tolerance and not sensitive to pain. Even more than that, she did not respect that I left my panties on and pulled them down and lifted them up. I'm immediately cried when she finally finished and on the entire way home. To say the least my masseuse did not receive a tip. I'm on muscle relaxers and have multiple bruises. I will never be back and regret not sitting up and ending it. Everything from the base of my skull to my legs hurt; to put it in perspective I weigh 135 pounds and 5'5". IF you book a couples massage with them, do not assume you are getting a Swedish massage like most places, despite there being no option to select.
