Woke up this AM with a terrible neck pain and found Sarah on Yelp. I normally wouldn't look for a massage therapist in Evanston because I live in the city. But I was going to be headed that way for a meeting today and I have never found a great massage therapist in the city so I figured give Evanston a try. Luckily she had a slot in her schedule and fit me in same day. She is easy to talk to. Not too woo-woo. Down to earth, understands basic health and medicine that other massage therapists are sometimes clueless to. She is strong and goes deep without being a bull in a china shop - she is very smooth in her movements. Her office is clean, organized, and had a relaxed vibe. It was quiet too, which I really appreciate as many places I've gone to lately are really loud with thin walls. Plus, I love that it does not have smelly candles or potpourri. It was one of the best massages I've had in Chicago. I think she will be my go-to gal from now on when I'm needing to de-stress or have pain. I live near Andersonville and have tried many massage therapists in my neighborhood, but from now on, I'll be trekking to Evanston to see Sarah.

Then I remembered someone telling me about the talent at the Wilmette Massage center. True professionals in a lovely environment, right in my backyard, and across from the Linden train station. What a pleasant experience, and truly therapeutic, I feel like a million dollars, no kidding. The pain was gone the first session, and now my weekly massage allows me the mobility, and stress relief I am seeking. Their hours are great too! Need a massage - go there! Nancy K.

I was in constant pain and had been told by dentists that it was related to my teeth alignment, that I would need to wear a mouth guard, and that I should consider various dental treatments. I was even referred to head and neck specialists. After so many years of dealing with it, I had started to worry that this was simply something I was going to live with forever. A friend who came to Chicago specifically to train with the team at Somavida recommended them to me, and I am so grateful he did. I see both Sarah and Jackie, and the difference they have made in my pain and quality of life has been incredible. For the first time in years, I feel like someone actually understands what is happening in my body and knows how to help rather than just manage the symptoms. I've been meaning to write this review because I truly feel like I owe it to them- and to anyone else who may be dealing with chronic TMJ or similar pain and wondering if there are other options. I'm incredibly grateful to Sarah and the entire Somavida team for the care, expertise, and relief they've given me. I cannot recommend them enough.

I normally visit the Art of Health in Lincolnwood but when I learned of another location in…read moreEvanston, I decided to check them out. When I made a walk in appointment, I was introduced to Anna and Vivian. I was told by both ladies they accept walk-ins and scheduled appointments. I scheduled my massage for later in the week and looked forward to my session. I've made multiple visits to this chain and the massages they provide here are just as good as the Lincolnwood location, if not better. The Tui Na style of massage uses a firm amount of pressure. If you're not accustomed to this style, you may want to tell your therapist to go easy on you. So far I've made two trips to this location and every massage I've received has been phenomenal. I have caught myself snoring multiple times during my sessions. I've realized if someone can push me to that level of relaxation, they've earned high marks in my book. Every time I leave, I feel relaxed and sedated. I'm guessing it's from the post massage high I get after releasing all tension/knots from my body. This chain has attractive pricing. It's roughly a dollar per minute which signals good value for a quality massage. I posted a review for the Lincolnwood location, and I'm assuming their setups are similar. The ambiance is informal given there are no private rooms for table or chair massages. Everything is all set up in one room. If your priority is solely about the ambiance; this might not be the place for you. Rather the focus here is the quality and decent cost of the massage. There is a bit of a language barrier so conversations are kept to a minimum but the staff understands some English to get by. Adjusting to the situation takes some getting used to. My last massage was a 75 minute table and post session, I was given a bottle of water. The parking situation is a little tough compared to the Lincolnwood facility. The Evanston Art of Health only has metered parking. Despite the minor inconvenience, this spot is closer to home so I plan to make this my regular stop.

Visited here twice now and am considering coming every month. They take your relaxation seriously,…read moreand do work when it comes to getting in there and loosening those knots and tight spots. Not sure if it borders a deep tissue massage bc I've never had one, but they definitely aren't afraid to apply pressure and do well to make sure to turn you into complete jelly on the table. I am in bliss! Today I got the 30 min foot, 30 min back with added oil and hot stone massage. I've paid 2-3x as much for a luxury hotel resort massage experience, and I've gotta say, I came out 2-3x more relaxed out of this one. I'll take less frills and go here. Bc of covid, I've only ever been in the group room by myself, or my bf who came to get a massage last time I was here. Even so, they ensure that you are comfortable and have privacy. Pretty sure they would not have you completely de-robe if there are other strangers in the group room, but if that is something one would be uncomfortable with, I did notice that they have private rooms for individuals and couples. Anywho, a super relaxing massage experience, and the staff is super professional and courteous. For sure recommend!

The massages were well done, albeit a little painful at times, though not to the point of being intolerable, probably within general expectations. My big problem is this. Neither masseuse spoke much English and neither of us speaks Korean, Chinese, or whatever their language is. For no reason whatsoever, the masseuses decided that we had agreed to continue for a full 90 minutes. My wife didn't agree to this. I didn't agree to this. I was getting a massage and had no desire to watch the clock. I assumed, as was the case with every other massage I have had in my life, that this one would end at the agreed upon time. Ultimately, we walked out spending $70 more than we expected and I feel like this was the ultimate bait-and-switch sale. It's a shame that a business in downtown Evanston considers this the proper way to handle their customers.

Coming to Maeva, I learned what I really needed was trigger point work! She has an innate ability to find the points in your body where the tension and pain lives and then massage it away. She will go as deep as you can handle but also listens when you ask for a little less. Maeva definitely delivers totally custom massage therapy and wants you to feel good. I always walk away shocked at the amount of tension I carry without realizing it - Maeva helps get rid of all of it! She's an absolute gem and you should not hesitate to make an appointment. Obviously I didn't recognize this number or understand why I was receiving this random message from a random number. So I asked who it is. The response was extremely rude saying "You called me. For a massage therapist that indicates on their website that they treat clients with dignity and respect, this response to someone reaching out to your business for the very first time is very unprofessional and contradictory to what they proclaim their values are.
