I have the knowledge and experience to know what makes a great hamburger. Tonight my wife and I drove from South 'O' to Carlsbad for what we thought would be a great meal only to find that Eureka has become another less than average hamburger restaurant. To add more pain to our dining experience, our service was the absolute worst ever experienced in at least the last 30 to 40 years of dining at food establishments. It was so terrible that the tip we left was a dollar and a little change and we usually tip 20 to 25 percent. This minimal tip was left without any guilt at all. Eureka wants you to Eat.Drink.American. - If you want a great dining experience, do not go to Eureka. In all fairness, we have dined at Eureka Carlsbad in the past with great results and cannot understand why the radical changes have occurred in food and service quality. read more

First time here during lunch hour. I arrived a little before noon, so the parking lot was yet to be full. Then at around 12:15pm, the plaza got really busy. The hostess was welcoming, and we were seated indoors right away (we asked for this instead of outdoors as it was a bit chilly). They have quite a few alcoholic beverages, and their menu items were also all appealing. My coworker ordered a burger, and the meat was very tender. She enjoyed her burger and her side of fries. I ordered the fish and chips, but upgraded to the honey-cinnamon sweet potato fries. The fish and chips were delicious! Overall, good eatery with delicious options. However, quite pricey for the amount of food you get. Will most likely be back to try their other menu items. read more

After a few hours at the trampoline park, Papa needed some dinner, and this place is right next door. The atmosphere is nice, the buildings feel like a collection of cargo containers but there are nice fireplaces and the interior is nicely woody. My son and I were seated quickly, and the host enthusiastically recommended some menu items. "I've been here a month, and I've had this one eleven times!" The waiter was great, very helpful. I'm a tiki freak so I ordered The Headhunter King, and it was one of the best drinks I've had. That and the mac and cheese balls, I had a moment. Nice experience for lunch. Food was tasty, service was a bit slow. Came here for lunch one day and ordered a burger with a side of spicy green beans and their specialty watermelon hibiscus drink. the service is extremely slow, and it took a while for us to get our food. The burger though is pretty tasty and the spicy green beans had really nice flavors. I did really also liked the watermelon hibiscus drink. The restaurant is very open and sitting inside. You don't feel stuffy at all, the whole place is pretty clean which I appreciate. Parking can be kind of hard to find during lunch in the shared parking lot bathroom was clean. read more

It was sautéed onions, which seemed burned as well. I legitimately tried to endure eating this reuben but i couldnt. Didnt even eat the second half of it. I should have said something but i dont like sending food back. The driest sandwich I've ever tasted in my life. Perhaps it was just a miss for the chef for the day, but if this is what the chef serves on the regular and it should not be called a reuben. Its misleading. And quite honestly, its the worst thing ive ever ordered in my entire life. And that says a lot. Ive left one yelp review in my entire life. This food item should be reevaluated. But....i dont feel one food item should make an entire review suffer. Service is always great here. With that being said, its a 4/5. We enjoy this location and will be back to try other items. However I was dismayed today that I used the restroom there and both soap dispensers were empty as well as someone had placed a bottle of watered-down dish soap on the counter in bathroom, yet you cannot even get it to pump. Used to be my go to dinner place, especially for late night dinner. Now that has changed after my experience on 8/11. Came in around 8 and sat at the bar. As soon as my bf and I sat down the bartender took our drink order. We looked over the menu and were ready to order when our drinks were brought out. Rather than taking our order the bartender just walked away. We tried to get his attention several times and nothing. Our drinks were empty and still no one came to ask if we wanted another one or to order food. Bartender just kept ignoring us. After waiting at least 25 minutes for him to come back we decided to give him five more minutes then we were done. There was what I'm assuming is the bar back with him and he was pacing picking at his beard. Just kept pulling on it and twisting it while leaning over drinks. Maybe an anxious habit but let's not do that near food or drinks. I don't want your beard flakes with my vodka. He finally came over to us to ask us if we needed anything. My bf explained that we have been waiting and no one has taken our order and we wanted to pay the drinks we had and leave. He apologized (still messing with beard) and offered to give us a gift card.
