This place is truly remarkable. Don't know the guy's name but he was so helpful in enabling us to get a gun safe open that we had the combination but not the order of the dial-how many times to spin the dial. I was able to send a picture of the safe's face and dial and he was able to determine by this picture the age of the safe enabling me to open it with his instructions-all over the phone. And free! Afterwards he texted me the instructions in a picture that I could keep in a photo for reference in the future. The back story here is-I came to Oregon from KCMO 2 mos ago to care for my ex who had just gotten out of the hospital for brain surgery. This safe held his most prized possessions-his lifelong collection of hunting rifles. He had kept them in this safe for many years and was moving back home to KCMO to be closer to his son and other family members. He can't take much but this person who helped us in our time of need softened the blow of having to leave most of his possessions behind. He was truly a good hearted soul. read more

Recently bought an old truck that had been broken into and needed new ignition and new passenger door lock and key. They referred me to an auto electrician for the new ignition switch. While it was at the other mechanics, Eugene locksmith was going to take care of getting the door locks keyed and replaced. My truck was in the shop for 2 weeks, and they said part of the holdup was getting the locksmith guy back out there. For some reason they didn't key the ignition and door locks into 1 key, but that's not so bad. What's bad is that a couple days later after I had been driving my truck, I discovered that the passenger door lock had never been replaced (it had been broken into lbefore I bought it, which is why I needed these repairs). The passenger door lock is still the same one as it was, screwdriver dents and all. My bad, I suppose, for not unlocking both doors with the new key. But the doors weren't locked when I picked it up. Poor service, and an $80 "rekey" fee. Will never go there again. I will take my truck to Heymans locksmith to get it fixed. read more

My 2002 Toyota Tacoma had a 3rd-generation mechanical key that was barely working in the ignition and both doors, and the driver-side tumbler had broken off and fallen inside the door. They took apart the door, found the tumbler, retooled all tumblers, and made two new keys, just for the price of one hour's labor plus the replacement keys. Great service and nice folks! read more

A few years ago I gave em 4 stars and went again to get a heavy duty lock for a U haul truck and my review is now a 3 star they have lost another star from me. They had what I was looking for so they get a star there, they were open early so another star there & they trusted me with testing my lock to the U haul so another star there. Where they lost the 2 stars was in the customer service. They guy seemed very inattentive to us as customers. In the middle of the sale he was talking to a coworker about something about scheduling which was completely unrelated to helping us as customers as we were in a time crunch. He was very slow and honestly kinda lazy as he didn't even wanna come to the U haul to test if the lock would be a good fit but he was trusting enough to let me test it out on my own trusting that I wouldn't steal it. So the two stars lost were basically with being inconsiderate to us as customers & being slow & lazy. I could still see myself going to them if I have a time crunch but they won't be my first choice and a couple years ago they were also lazy as I needed a key made and they took several days before giving me an answer about if they could even cut a laser cut key as they needed to talk to someone else to cut it again inattentive to customers and lazy. Also I went with another locksmith in Eugene back then at least they fixed the claustrophobic part ha!!! read more

Supurb! I need a copy of a chip-encoded automobile key. Lanie (sp?) met me at the counter, told me that they had the proper blank and could program it for me. She went right to work on it. Within a few minutes, I had the new key. I did not have that car with me to verify it was good, so she told me it was guaranteed to work. The old key was pretty worn. Very impressed! My neighbor locked himself out, after returning from the hospital, not having his keys. We called Eugene Lock & Safe at 11:45 pm, and he was here within 20 min, and opened the door within seconds! He was very professional, and courteous. This man is a wizard. If you need help from a true locksmith and have wondered if this is a lost art, look no further. If you feel an "Abandon all hope, all ye who enter here" sign should be hanging over the hardware department of your local store because they can't even cut a working copy of your house key, and you've got a real problem, come here. I had a car key that had broken off in my trunk lock and had been sitting in there for months. I neglected to make a new copy so if I lost the other one I'd still have a spare, and sure enough, I lost it. Hours of looking for it turned up nothing. I successfully fished out the key fragment from the trunk lock, hopped in the car, and zipped over to Eugene Lock and Safe. He asked me some questions, manipulated some things around behind the counter and got to work. About two minutes later, I walked out to my car to test the copy. SUCCESS! I know what you're thinking... the poor car dealership didn't get to charge me $100 to order a copy. I'll just have to live with that.
