Unfortunately, I locked myself out of my car twice in the span of one week (long story) and I had to use two different locksmiths. The first experience was absolutely awful, time consuming, and hard on my car. Lane Lock and Key was literally 60 times faster (they had my car open in under a minute vs. an hour!) I never said how much are you going to screw me I said how much is this going to break me? You were short and very dismissive. Because I wanted to look around for a quicker response. People have bad days maybe I caught you at a bad time but you were not accommodating and you could have been more understanding but when you hung up on me and you told me you wouldn't help me after 8 called back to make a certain appointment which I would have waited until Monday for you but then you got an attitude and so no you won't nook me. So I think it was the fact that I needed help faster and it upset you that I wanted to look around for faster and cheaper service. So you can try and play it off as you like but My son was sitting there listening to the whole conversation so twist it how you like on here but the Ruth is already out there. Deal with it maybe control yourself and don't be mad that people may need assistance faster or for a cheaper price because we are all not living equal some people are living on fixed incomes and are just as likely to call for help so compassion and a little understanding goes a long way. Our key broke in the ignition of our RV. We were able to get the key out and wanted another one made so we can get on the road. We were in Oregon bringing my 90 year old dad back home after celebrating his birthday In California. This guy was totally rude!!! Excuse us for having an emergency and we tried to contact everyone to help us out! He said don't call and wake all of his technicians up! He said to stop calling him! When you are in a service trade, shouldn't you be helpful??? I mean at least say I can't help you but here's the number of someone else!! Be a bit kinder! Scheduled via email. Guy comes over on time (omg!), installs the lock that I supplied, cleans up, accepts payment. Easy Peasy. I would like to comment on the other review by the guy who claimed the locksmith, mike, was mentally unstable (based on a text message...haha!). I looks to me like the customer did not post all of the related text messages. Specifically, he had negotiated a lower labor rate with mike which mike had agreed to. But common sense tells you that mike was planning on making up the difference with some profit on the key blank (a fancy remote control car key). Then at the last minute, the customer tries to pull a bait and switch and asks mike to do the work for the agreed low labor rate, BUT now the customer will magically supply a key blank, i.e. no profit to mike on the key blank. Mike's answer could have been a bit more polite, but I assume he was annoyed about the attempted bait and switch. Maybe the customer has no concept of how businesses make money....or maybe he was just trying to pull a bait and switch? Either way, he got shut down, then runs to cry on Yelp. I can't say enough good things about Michael at Lane Lock and Key. We have a 1960s house, and the handle on our metal screen door (original to the house) broke off. Two other local businesses told us finding a replacement part was not possible and that we needed a new door. We really didn't want to replace the door, as the original has great details, and our home is a duplex, so we didn't want the two sides to be mismatched. Michael was my third attempt at fixing the door, and I should have called him first. He spent several days looking through catalogs, helped me get the correct measurements for the broken part and housing, and contacted product reps to find a replacement handle and lock mechanism that fit perfectly in our door. I called to get a quote from Lane Lock and Key for an auto key cut from the VIN and a new proximity key fob. (I recently bought a used car that has a proximity fob. It does not need a key to open the, unless the battery is dead). My key did not turn in the driver's side door. I was asked to send a picture of my existing key and key fob. I sent the pictures. I received a near immediate text back with the advice for me to lubricate my car door lock cylinder to loosen the lock cylinder so my existing key will work. I was also give the quote for the key cut and fob from my car's VIN, as I had asked for it. I will always call Lane Lock and Key for any of my locksmith needs. He could have made money from what I saw as a need, but instead he is an honest businessman and gave great advice. read more

I locked my keys in my car for the first time 2 hours away from home and was in a state of panic! A lot of the locksmiths were fully booked and/or fighting fires (idk why, but thank you for fighting fires for us!). Michael was the only locksmith able to help me out and was incredibly kind and professional! He was booked until six hours later but he arrived about an hour earlier than I was expecting him! He got my keys our on the first attempt and didn't damage anything or set off any alarms! My insurance didn't cover it but it was cheap! He drove to me from about an hour and a half away and only charged me $40 cash (or $45 if you pay with card). Will definitely be keeping his card and sharing it with every one I know!!! Man oh man was this an easy experience! I searched for the cheapest option for a spare key to my '16 Camry for a few days before I broke down and called these guys. Not only were they the cheapest option (by at least 50%) but they also met me at work to create the spare! The whole process- from initial call to having a spare- was less than 45 min. I had a bad feeling from the start of the call. The man who answered was extremely abrupt. I told him I would like a quote for some services (not every business gives phone quotes so I didn't want to explain what I needed until he confirmed he could give a quote). He said 'ok' abruptly again and I was quiet for a second, thinking he may need to grab a pen if he was on the road. Then it was 'what is it that you want'? As if I was some buzzing mosquito and not a potential customer. I began trying to explain what I wanted...as a new home owner all of these services and interactions are new to me.....and he said: "are you a telemarketer?" And I said " no, why would you say that?" He said "because you don't sound too sure...like you don't know what you want". I told him that indeed I do so perhaps another local shop would like my business.
