I brought in a fob to be cut and set up for my Toyota. The man was not particularly friendly or cordial. He almost gave the impression that he was put out that I had brought in an Amazon purchased fob for him to set up. He quickly told me that the cost would be $90.00 to cut the key and to set it up. He was also very clear that there was no guarantee that the fob would work. He asked if I still wanted him to do the job. I should have listened to that nagging inner voice. But I had confidence that he could make it work. After much time there, he came in and told me that the key worked but the fob door lock/unlock didn't. Charged me and moved on to next customer. I didn't feel like he was unhappy or that he had intentionally sabotaged the fob. But I just paid 90 bucks to be treated without care or appreciation. I would never return here again. read more

I was treated rudely, talked down to in a condescending manner and not helped with my situation. They answered their phone and had the keys I was looking for. Drove right there and had 2 GM keys made asap. Keys were made properly and actually fit the application. You would be surprised how often locksmiths make incorrect keys only to be discovered after you leave and drive home. I was directed to Lancaster by 2 different locations by mobile locksmiths to discover they are using fake addresses. Total fraud. I found Fox Lock & Safe and they were just down the road after my wild goose chase. I will definitely use these guys again. Friendly service, but most importantly made the right keys. read more

I locked my keys in the car today (10.23.19) and did not have a spare handy - so CSAA Road Service to the rescue. The technician from Fox Lock and Safe @ 1865 Lancaster Dr NE, Salem, OR 97305. Showed up around 12pm to see about getting an RV key made for an entry lock that I removed and brought to them. They weren't there. No note on the door. No voice mail messaging available. Came back a few days later around 1pm and got it done by 330. The key works fine. 30$ 1 key/ lock .I agreed to it so I'm not complaining about that deal at that time. Come to find out later other locksmiths are 1/2 the cost. If they were super friendly I'd say go see them. Maybe it's a business in transition. Absolutely the worst service I've ever experienced. Unable to complete a simple lockset/key job. Promised one hour but 3 hours later told me they couldn't do it. No apologies. No efforts at even being mannerly. I stood in the waiting area for an HOUR just to see if they'd even acknowledge my presence, since I'd already been waiting outside for 2 hours. Not even so much as a glance. I asked for the old lockset and they were unable to locate it. They would do well to hire a business manager and a locksmith. They are a disaster. Horrible. We had to have an older lock removed from our motorcoach tow bar and called not less than EIGHT locksmiths between Salem and Portland, Oregon. Not ONE of them could guarantee assisting us on short notice - and about 25% of them didn't even answer the phone or call back! Most also wanted to charge us an exorbitant amount IF they could provide service. Not only did Fox help us out, they had the lock off in no time and did so at an extremely affordable price. Perhaps best of all, since we had no way to secure the bar without the lock and could not quite get the bar out of the mount, they CUSTOMIZED a new lock to help us get it set for our trip north to our tow bar company for service. The bottom line: the staff at Fox Lock & Safe were fast, friendly, affordable, and a pleasure to deal with. We can't recommend them highly enough. Ignore the negative reviews; there are always two sides to any story, and we definitely side with Fox (and their other positive reviewers) after our own dealings with them. Had a new electronic key fob for my vehicle that came with a blank key fitted at manufacture. Called several key places that were no help and then called these guys. They not only were willing and able to cut my key, they made sure it worked and found a blank to make a more durable spare i could also use. The guy who helped me knew what he was doing, had extensive knowledge and was stellar with customer service. A great find in Salem. Wish more businesses were like this. read more

Once I was able to catch them open, they rocked with getting the job done and working to contact me that my keys were ready! Just missed them twice. Once at 2pm and hen again today at 1pm. Their service was horrible and they try charging 4 dollars for a key I can get for less then 2 dollars ANYWHERE else. They rip you off and dont want to help at all. When I told the lady I could get it 2 dollars elsewhere she wad very uncaring when she told me "good luck" with a snide scowl on her face. Fox Lock and Safe has horrible customer service. I wanted to re-make the key to my car and they never specified whether their service was guaranteed. After paying and getting the key wrongly made they said the money was lost. I politely told the lady that they should be letting customers know that their service isn't guaranteed before the payment process and she said "I don't have to sell the key to you if I don't want to." The lack of professionalism within this business is insane. I wouldn't recommend going to a place with such poor incompetence. Above all, the three employees working were not wearing masks. I would think after having a sign upon the entrance door requiring masks employees would be wearing one too. read more

These guys are unreal. I thought it would be pretty near impossible to get my motorcycle gas tank unlocked (it was jammed), and much less get my broken off key out of the lock. These guys did it in half an hour or so. Amazing! I can now put gas in my bike! read more

I had an appointment today "between 10-11" at 9 they showed up and I was not in the office yet. The work was sensitive so the staff wasn't aware what was being done and instead of calling my mobile and asking questions or being, on time, they left and said they could reschedule me on Monday. What does that mean? For Monday? On Monday for another day? I called from 9:30 to 9:45 repeatedly and the phone just rang and eventually just hung up. No voicemail? We loved Ron and he was a huge reason we did business here, today I am searching for a locksmith. I wish this was the only time we've had issues, it isn't. Being early, that early, may work well for some, but today and most days, our days are planned out to the minute. Not good customer service. When I finally did get someone on the phone they were unapologetic. It just is what it is, I guess. read more

So I stopped in to see about the cost of a replacement smart key about a month ago. The younger gentleman that helped me quoted me $155 and he even double checked the price for me. The key finally came in and it ended up being the wrong key so they had to re-order. Went in today and they had the correct key in and they went ahead and programmed and cut the key for me. As I go to pay the price has suddenly changed to $225. I complain and they were like yeah well that's the price. I now regret not just walking out without the key, but I needed it and did not want to have to start over from scratch. So I just paid the price and I will be sure to share my experiences with all of the review sites. I'm sure there are other locksmith places out there with higher standards, but at the very least, get a WRITTEN quote if you are going to use this Company. read more

I have never dealt with such poor customer service before. I was hoping to get a couple random keys made because i was practicing rekeying the locks at my house with a cheap little kit I bought online but the owner of the company flat out refused to help me. I tried to explain that to her but she just sat there staring at her computer screen not even looking at me and said she would not help me. She had no problem trying to get me to pay to have them rekey the locks for me but apparently if you're wanting to learn a new skill this company has no desire to help. I stopped by for two keys. The Woman who helped me was very sarcastic and rude when I simply asked (making conversation) "Did her card processor always take so long (at least 4 minutes). When she snapped at me and said I didn't need to take the keys. I said it was just a question. She just huffed at me and walked out of the room. I have 2 Medeco KIK cylinders (00 keyway, not restricted) without keys, I called to get a price to make the keys as I already have them decoded, I just needed the keys cut. I got the run around from the guy that answered the phone and then he put me on the phone with "someone who knows" as he put it and she told me flat out NO!
