BE AWEARE I came into look for flooring for my kitchen and hallway. I had a sales person work with me. I do not recall his name. I don't know if he was not listening or if he was misunderstanding what I was trying to say. I told him that I had a contractor that was going to put the floors in. He asked me again about who was putting in the floors. He said they could do it and I said that I have a contractor who will put the floors in. After a few minutes he asked me again. (total of 3 times$ He told me that the floors he showed me were on clearance and I could get a good price and they had it in stock in the store. When I went back to the store to return samples of a flooring another sales person helped me. I told him about what the other sales person told me the other day. The sale person told me they do not have it in stock and the needed to order it from Portland. This would have cost me more money because they needed to ordered. When I said that the sales person the other day said it was on clearance and they had it in stock. This sale person told me again it s not stock and would need to get it from Portland. He said to me it will take about 2 days to get the flooring from Portland . They are dishonest and treated me unprofessionally. I would not give them a dime. Do not use this company...run as fast as you can!!! read more

Awful experience, if you need flooring done look elsewhere. I could write a book about our vinyl tile installation but I'll keep this brief: 1. Cuts around kitchen island and counters look like a child did it. 2. Paid for flooring to be replaced under dishwasher as well but this was not done. I would have never known if I hadn't had to replace the dishwasher. 3. NAILED the transitions in between rooms because they couldn't figure out how to install them correctly. My family have hurt themselves on the nails poking out - idiots! 4. Wife complained about the nails in the transitions and one of the owners actually came out to the house to bully my wife and talk to he like she was an idiot. I would not recommend this company to anyone that wants quality work done and no regrets about their choice. read more

We had water damage in our kitchen and had to have the floor replaced. The contractor who is repairing our home hired JK to level out our kitchen floor and install new vinyl flooring. What a nightmare. Now before JK touched our house the floor did not squeak or make groaning noise at all. It was solid. The two guys they sent to our house damaged our kitchen floor after the initial replacement of subflooring. 1-these guys decided to HAMMER the screws that held the new flooring in place. That loosened the floor. Now it squeaks. 2-they did NOT sweep or vacuum the floor to remove particles that would be trapped under the vinyl. It was lumpy after the install. The excuse my wife got was "oh they are just glue lumps". The whole floor was lumpy. 3-instead of removing a transition piece between the floor and kitchen, they put a thick layer of glue on top of the vinyl where it mated with hardwood floor which was painfully obvious where it was cut at the edge of the transition piece instead of under it. 4-the floor was not level or even. They were called back to see what we found wrong. The guy they sent took a hammer to the lumps to flatten them. Anyone with half a brain knows all that does is embed whatever particle is underneath and eventually will wear a hole through the vinyl. My wife confronted they guy about it in front of the contractor, and got a lame BS excuse why he did that. She asked him point blank "DO YOU HAVE ANY INTEGRITY?!" Deer in the headlights was the look she got from him. A few weeks later the flooring was removed. JK sent the same two guys over to reinstall vinyl flooring. Well I had to babysit these guys to be sure they did not cut corners, which they tried to do several times. Again, they attempted to hammer down screws in the subfloor. I had to yell "STOP!" to prevent them from doing more damage than they already did. How hard is it to turn a screw a little bit to sink it, rather than hammer it and destroy the threads cut into the wood? They tried to level the floor with some sort of mortar mix and did a very uneven job. When it dried they sanded it down. When it came time to put down the vinyl, THEY DID NOT SWEEP OR VACUUM THE FLOOR to remove particles and anything else that would cause lumps under the floor. I called them on that. The guys said "Well other contractors just lay the vinyl." I asked the guys "If this was your house, wouldn't you sweep and vacuum first?" Grudgingly, they swept the floor. I had to have them use my shop vac as they did not have one (seriously?). After they left to get the vinyl, I had to follow behind them and I swept up a pile of debris that completely filled up the dustpan and vacuum everywhere as they left a ton of crap everywhere, including corners where the floor met cabinet or wall. After they put down glue, they put the vinyl down. They used a giant metal roller to flatten it which shook our house and left dents in the wall with it. After they did that, the kitchen floor squeaks horribly, and they denied causing it, even though I sat there and saw them do it. Now we have to find someone else to fix what JK screwed up. I've never met installers as incompetent than these two guys. JK is the worst group of people I have ever had to deal with. Save yourself the grief. Get someone else to do your floor. Folks, whatever you do, CHOOSE WHO DOES YOU FLOOR WISELY. Research their past jobs. Check with the State Contractor Board. Seriously. read more

Very happy with our new floor. Joel treated our small job like it mattered, even going out of his way to find the flooring that we wanted.

Had carpet put in. There were tons of nails poking through on walkway thresholds and the stairs. I have kids and asked for them to come back a fix the nails poking out... at first he suggested I do it myself but I just paid $$$ for it to be done so why would I go back and fix their mistakes? Anyways tj said he would talk to the installers, it's been over a week with out any communication from him. My child got her foot poked and it Bled. We had used J/K Carpet in the past to do the bedrooms in my house and I wanted to continue the same flooring throughout, so I hired J/K Carpet Center again. My experience with Alex King was decent. He was helpful, communicative, explained everything and answered all of my questions so that I understood and was satisfied with his knowledge. He scheduled within our date range which was very helpful as we have a full house. I took the days off of work that he said it would take to do the job. The employee who came to my home did not represent the business well. He was unkempt at best. I later learned that this was actually the owner's son. Brian. On more than one occasion I witnessed him spitting in my yard, and not just saliva. It was disgusting. I felt buyer's remorse instantly and I also felt like a prisoner to my purchase since my floor was already torn up. On the first day Brian left early stating he wanted to go to a child's sports event. Absolutely! That's a great reason to leave and I trusted his knowledge and abilities to know what kind of time he needed to complete my floor. He also left early on the second day. This was the day that my floor was originally to be completed. Ok - an extra day leaving room for error is understandable. I was unable to be home from work any longer so had to trust he would be where he said he'd be when he said he'd be there. He arrived late on the third day. The job was not complete when he left. It was when I was walking through my home looking at the work done this far that I noticed one of my shelves was missing a candle/candlestick. I looked everywhere, I had my kids look and we could not find it. It was completely gone. I contacted Alex and expressed my concern that it had been knocked off the shelf and broken and then STOLEN to cover the fact that it had happened. Alex looked into this and the employee confirmed that he did indeed accidentally knock the candlestick off the shelf and break it. He also admitted he cleaned it up and took the garbage with him to cover it up. I would not want this employee in anyone's house. I did not allow him back into my house. On any day this is a terrible thing for a person or company to do. In this case it was doubly horrific as the candle was one of two special candles from my grandson's funeral. Irreplaceable. I cannot, to this day, recount this incident without watery eyes and a broken heart. This is unforgivable. To their credit, in an effort to apologize J/K Carpet did reach out and were kind to our family. The remainder of the $4,200.00 that I owed was discounted $300.00 and as it was the anniversary of Isaac's death they delivered flowers to his grave site. I do not feel it was enough. read more

It takes a fair amount of rudeness to bother me, but JK carpets should be proud they were able to achieve this in 15 minutes. We got there on a Saturday 45 minutes before they closed. We knew what we wanted and just wanted to point it out, pay for it, and schedule the install. Standing in plain view waiting to be helped with two salesmen hanging out and ignoring us. The other staff were moving things around and ignored us as well. They saw us waiting and it was clear we were waiting to talk to someone. It was obvious you don't need or want my business. Not a happy camper this time around. During the pandemic, JK Carpet installed the carpet in our church and did a fabulous job, so we chose them for our home project last month. This time, our experience was totally different. Our salesman dropped the ball on numerous occasions, from "forgetting" to put us on the schedule to "forgetting" to charge us (which I referred him to our email conversations which included my okay to the quote and all my visa information). Then we had to set three different install dates because the salesman was on vacation in Mexico when it was discovered that he had forgotten to put our install on the schedule (again, documented in our emails). This caused us a lot of disruption as we were out of the country for three weeks and had to do business from Brazil, plus we had to arrange for a family member to go to our house and let the installer in and out when they finally did come. (I don't know the name of the young man who installed the carpet, but he was fabulous. He worked hard and fast and did a great job.) When I asked for a discount after all the confusion, I was told by the man on the phone that he didn't have the authority to grant one. All in all, it was a frustrating experience and I would recommend being careful in choosing a sales associate, as they really do make or break the deal. read more

Would give a zero star if option. What a disater of an experience we had with them. They installed flooring in my house on 3/12. The floor instantly was buckling and sinking. I called JK, they sent the installer out who said "your fridge is too heavy!" and then blamed the problems on the manufacturer. It took the manager Jerry over a month to get back to me. He NEVER acknowledged the inconvenience. Always someone to blame and never any answers. A 2nd team finally came to my house to "fix" and they said it could not be fixed and that new flooring needed to be ordered... another month goes by. Jerry is trying to get in touch with the manufacturer. Funny thing is, I could call the toll free line for them and would get immediate help. Jerry kept saying he needed them to replace the wood when the right thing to do would have been just order it and worry about your battles seperately. This is the worst customer service I HAVE EVER HEARD OF! Instead of taking care of a customer who has been inconvenienced for 8 weeks he was more concerned about his profit. Now 11 weeks later my flooring was finally installed. Funny, same fridge but the problem went away. Also, the new installers did a fantastic job, and the sub floor needed to leveled which I mentioned before the 1st install but the installer didn't care. I would recommend going somewhere else. If you have problems Jerry will not stand behind his work and help you. In a time where customers should matter most, you will quickly learn they are not important to JK. He hasn't even given us paperwork for their "warranty" or any from the manufacturer. read more

Needed to replace some nasty carpet but for some reason reviews about flooring places are hard to come by. Jerry and the staff at J/K Carpet Center were patient, informative, and not pushy! I needed flooring that could handle water and pets well so the staff there suggested plank vinyl (which is holding up great so far). I got quotes at several other places in and around the Salem area and the lowest quote by far care form J/K Carpet Center. Jerry set up a time within the week that I decided on my floors and came by and measured the area needed. I got a quote within 24hr and the quote he gave me was very close to the actual final cost. The gentleman who installed the floors was very nice as well. I will definitely be going back to them for any of my other flooring needs! read more

WOW! Great service from the start. Alex came out to our home and brought flooring samples. He answered every question clearly and with knowledge. We ordered our flooring and the crew came out the next week. Excellent crew, efficient, polite and finished the floor beautifully in one day. They cleaned up everything after they were done. First I want to say working with Alex for buying and installing my carpet I give a 5 STAR !!!! Unfortunately when it came time to lay the laminate I hired different people to lay it. I was told when my construction guy entered the stored he was ignored. Then he identified himself, it got a little friendlier. They ordered my flooring on Thursday and they got the reply of "oh, sorry you just missed the truck" I guess the guys in the truck OR the guys at the warehouse in Portland do not have phones to place my order. We were told they only go to Portland on Tuesdays and Thursday. We were told the order would be placed and come in Tuesday after 4PM C K would call when the truck came in. Guess what we received a call at 6PM (closing time) saying the truck was too full and my order didn't make the trip. I was in the process of moving into my home and wanted floors in before my furniture arrived. I called first thing Wednesday morning and exploded on management. He did a dog and pony show with me but said they would make a "special" trip to get my order. Not a fan of their management. Did get my flooring and it is beautiful. read more

Nice job on kitchen/dining area with wood laminate flooring. Considered doing the living room and hallway to match. Before leaving, installer measured the area and said that the salesman would call me with an estimate. I called the salesman twice with his promise to call me back the following week. That was one month ago; I never heard from him again. read more

This was a nightmare. Craftsman have become as eccentric and pampered artists. One month to complete a 600 square foot project. The installers did not catch dust from saw. House filthy. Mel has kept up with all our house renovation flooring needs for 6 homes now, starting back in the late 90's. He is professional, as are all the staff, & friendly and helpful. They do a great job, in a fair amount of time, for a fair price. I would recommend them to anyone needing flooring, but not needing a fancy store with 5 guys in suits chasing you around. To Sean A., in response to his lousy review... people get what they give. Telling you they could not do what you need was being honest, not bad cust service. You simply could have thanked them and moved on to someone else. If you have not done business with them, your review is simply whining about not being treated like you are special. You are not.
