I inherited two diamond rings from my mom. I came in to trade it for gold bullion. The woman who helped me said they can't pay me much for the diamonds because of all the fake diamonds out there. She told me that there is no market so they can only give me $120 for the diamonds and then the weight price for gold. It was very busy that day and I think she took advantage of the situation. In my experience they are great if you want to buy something but dicks if you want to sell. I now buy online or head to Harry's Coin Shop in the Portland area. read more

For both coins and jewelry, this store is a treasure! Over the years, I've bought several beautiful and unique vintage pieces of jewelry, as well as gold coins here. Last week, I came in with a friend who was a long-time customer and who recommended the shop. I brought a couple of shoeboxes full of old family coins - a few up to 200 years old, and many foreign. A few days ago. I tried to buy several thousand dollars in gold. Was told they would take a cashiers check but I would need to wait for the gold for a few weeks. When my mom died june 2022 they purchased all her household belongings from Oregon pacific bank .Valuables worth tons of money as my mother was a very rich woman . For a tiny amount 800 dollars. The point is they know how worthless the lane county system is. How they operate for themselves and not the people. Like other blue states such as California. The best coin shop in Eugene HANDS DOWN! I've visited other local coin and pawn shops and you literally will not find better prices elsewhere (even online!). The collection and variety range from numismatic coins, bullion rounds, and everything in between. Each time I come in it's like Christmas as theres something new each and everytime I go! :D If you need to sell anything coin related you'll get nothing short of spot price (most other places try to give you far less than spot). They also have prices updated live to the market (on a huge monitor that is in plain sight), and prior to purchasing they ensure you are getting the most updated price. Being that I am new to coin collecting, Ben has been my mentor throughout this whole process. Ben would really be the reason I give this a 5-star review as his knowledge and compassion to help educate me as the consumer made me feel extremely comfortable with coming back. Quick story: I went in to purchase some silver and the next time I came in Ben realized I overpaid and gave me the difference that was owed!!! Seriously, this dude deserves a medal! I have to agree with Ted and Shanon. I took a gold and diamond ring to them to see if they were interested in buying it. The person that helped me at the counter was rude and arrogant. The ring is 14 Ct gold has an annivasy band with 8 small diamonds that equal about 1/2 Ct. and the main ring has a 1/2 Ct center ring with 6 smaller diamonds on each side. I understand that your not going to get full value from used jewelry, but I was offended when the rude dude offered me $160 for the ring. Hey if you're not interested in something just say so. Don't try to rip people off. I couldn't get out of the store fast enoungh. I'd say buyer and seller beware. This business appears shady. read more

I have been meaning to write this review for a while but am just getting around to it. The man who owns this shop does not give you anywhere near the value of your jewelry. I took a ring that was valued at several thousand dollars by a certified appraiser and he offered my $600. I found an online company that offered my $1700. Quite a difference in price. there are many online companies out there that will pay you good prices for quality jewelry which is what I had. I think he offers low prices to pray on those who are facing financial problems and I find this unethical. read more

So maybe Shannon's review is laughable and complete nonsense, but mine is not. I had a 14kt gold pin face that weighed 3.3 grams. I had my wife take it in for cash. If they paid out 85% of melt value it would have been $86.00. I should have educated her better, but I thought I could trust a local business. They told her it was 10 kt, and gave her $28.00. Even if it was 10kt, melt value would have been $74.00. What a ripoff. read more

He said the coins were in the display and then walked away. Seemed very disinterested in getting a new customer. Last week I went in to have 3 error coins appraised. All the person cared about was the boxes they came in and whatever "prestige" the coins came with. He never bothered to look at the coins. I wanted to sell them because I needed the money. I don't care about the alleged prestige he thought the coins came with--if at all. Worst experience I had there to date. Don't go there. read more

They do not pay the going rate for gold or silver at EC&J. This week (12-14-1 4), they are paying $16.50 a gram for 14k gold. Retail, it is currently around $22.00 a gram and many places are paying over $18 a gram. Not here, of course. It is too bad there are so few other options in the Eugene area. read more
