My wife and I had a terrible experience at this jewelry store. Initially, a younger girl was very helpful, setting us up to have my wife's wedding ring cleaned and repaired, and we even bought another piece of jewelry. However, when we returned, an older lady assisted us and was quite rude. A few days later, we realized the repairs we had paid over $800 for hadn't been done. When my wife brought the ring back, the older lady accused her of lying and bringing in a different ring. After a very unpleasant interaction, she finally agreed to repair the ring. However, when we picked it up, the main diamond's prong was still loose. Frustrated, we drove downtown to Willamette Artisans Jewelry, where we received excellent service and they did a great job. I'm in the same boat as Lesli below in the fact that I went there due to all the high reviews on yelp. A prong on my grandmother's ring she left me broke and I needed someone to repair it. While I'm not sure the ring has any big price value it's extremely significant to me. I wanted someone I could trust and would put forth the time and effort to fix it. I left my ring with a lady after she talked me into fixing all 4 prongs "just in case". Later that night I had a bad feeling about changing all four prongs because I want the rain to look as close to it did when I got it. I called the office never received a call back and then emailed Charles who said he would pass on the message. Yesterday I got a call to say my ring was fixed. However the lady never got the message to not fix all four prongs so did more work than I wanted her to and I must say it's horrific. I took a jewelry making class in high school and I honestly have pieces that I made when I was 16 that look better than this ring now does. All four prongs are a different height, width and length. In some areas it appears she just laid two sheets of metal on top of each other and forgot to blend them in. There's whole areas of the ring that were soldered together so the detailing was lost and there's a huge chunk missing out of one of the sides. I've attached some pictures the best I can the detailing is small so it doesn't really photograph well but if you ever want specific pictures please email me directly and I'll show you what they did to my ring. Also, I asked three different times about the pricing and each time was quoted something different for the same work. I don't know how they were doing their math but it seems there's a serious error on what they were charging. Overall I'm devastated that I left this ring in the hands of people that didn't seem to care how special it was to me. read more

Seriously....this review deserves a 10 rating. I'm going tell you about the story of this very old ring that we almost destroyed but thanks to Charles Beaudet, Sr. we didn't do it!! My partner's mother passed away a couple years ago at age 87. His father (a 3rd generation Californian) gave this family ring to his mother in the late 1940's as an engagement ring. My partner and I decided to get married recently. I couldn't figure out what kind of ring I wanted and thought about finding a ring like his mother's but one in prefect shape. This ring was deformed in shape and had broken sections and missing diamond chips. We took the ring to two jewelers in town. The first place looked at the ring and said we should remove the diamonds and have the Platinum melted down. The diamonds might be put in a new setting but the platinum didn't have much value at all. We walked out of the store feeling so deflated but I was not going to tear the ring apart for the diamonds. We took the ring to a second jeweler in town. Better news. We were told that we could have the ring repaired. The jeweler on-site had some laser tool and could fix the ring thanks to digital technology and laser. The price was going to run 1500.00 or so. The jeweler was rather young and even though I am not opposed to young people as capable crafts-people, I just got this feeling that this very old ring needed an "old school" jeweler who knew about the craft of diamonds and ring making and I just didn't feel that from this jeweler. I walked out feeling a bit more positive. I went to Beaudet Jewelry in early Jan. and saw the sign on the door "Closed. On Vacation the week of...." and sadly, I went home and then a week later went back w/ the ring. The staff there, Nicole, in particular, couldn't have been nicer! She looked it over and said that the ring was certainly a special ring that looked repairable. She took the ring back to Charles (Sr) who looked it over carefully and asked me about the ring. I told him that all I knew about it was that it was a family ring from CA which could date back into the late 1800's. Charles said two of the three stones were miner's diamonds and we not symmetrical which is why the shape of the ring was not symmetrical (not just worn out almost too crooked to wear). The ring was custom made and he suggested between 1915 and early 1930's. Charles was fantastic about explaining the ring to me and about diamonds and the craft of diamond rings from the 1850's to the 1950's and to today (where most rings are made using molds where metals are poured into them). I felt confident that this ring was going to be in excellent hands. The work was laborious and three months later I got the call that it was finally ready. It was hard to not pester Charles about the progress of the ring, but he told me that he needed uninterrupted time to work on the ring given the extensive detailed work that needed to be done. I have to say, Charles put far more work and did over and above what he first thought the ring needed and the ring gave him lots of headaches given the issue w/ non-symmetrical stones and setting issues. I couldn't be happier with my ring! I can't take my eyes off of it and am so happy with the excellent service, care and cost (less than 1,500.00). Charles told me that in a month I should bring the ring back for him to look over to make sure the ring is still in perfect shape. Apparently, from shifting the stones and adding platinum the ring's "memory" can tend to shift still. AMAZING. I love love love Beaudet Jewelry and will be doing all my jewelry business there in the future and telling all my friends to patron these very qualified and friendly people! I'm going to try to keep this brief since I'm brimming with good things to say. I don't really own/wear jewelry, but my 94yr old grandmother does. I have taken on the task of repairing her jewelry. I started with her favorite set of opal earrings. One of the opals had fallen out so I needed to have another matching opal installed in the setting. Georgiann helped me with the quote and told me lots of information about opal. The price was less than anywhere else in town. When the earrings were done, Georgiann was concerned that the color of the new stone didn't match the original. They looked fine in the store so I took them home only to put them on and find that she was absolutely right. I called her and she told me to bring them back for a second try at no charge. The next try was perfect. This made my grandmother's 90th birthday extra special since the earrings are part of a set given to her by my late grandfather. My next visit was to repair the latch on her pearl necklace and to replace the battery in her watch. Once again, I called all around town for pricing, and Beaudet was the least expensive option for both repairs. They did the watch battery on the spot. The pearls were another matter. My grandmother told me these were real pearls and they were not so the very nice man with hip hair showed me the difference. He then offered me a super cheap repair from their random collection of clasps. He let me choose one that was a bit bigger so it would be easier for her to use. That repair was done in less than a week for under $10. They even shined up the beads. Finally, there's our wedding rings. We actually found them while we were dealing with the previous repairs. Basically the whole family helped with the rings since we needed a few visits to decide. Most of that was because we actually hadn't decided to get married until we were in this store and there were these awesome rings. They had a case of mens wedding bands at 50% off since they could not be sized. There was this neato puzzle ring in the case made of white gold that fit my husband perfectly. SCORE! Next, there was this simple, lovely paladium band with an oval sapphire in the store. We sat down with Georgiann and tried on a variety of rings but this one was the best. I don't like diamonds but felt like I had to have a diamond what with society and all. Georgiann explained that sapphires were the original engagement stone before the push to sell diamonds in the 1950's. I just loved that! They sized my ring and had it back to me in about a week. One note, the first attempt to size it resulted in the band splitting. I took it in and Charles fixed it within an hour. I haven't had any trouble since. About a year ago my wife needed to have her wedding ring cut off for a pending surgery. We went to Beaudet's at the recommendation of family. I had made previous purchases with them, but it had been 20 years. First, the customer service was poor, the son acted is if he could care less we were there. Next, in removing the ring he greatly exaggerated the spread and also twisted the ring. Once removed they said the prongs holding the stone were worn and recommended replacement. Repair and resizing was around $600. Fast forward almost a year, the ring broke. My wife was in town when she noticed the broken ring. The stone, setting and part of the ring disappeared and my wife was heartbroken. She had no recollection of bumping or catching the ring on anything. Amazingly enough we found the broken ring in our home, which is even more amazing since we live on a ranch. I had been concerned with how much he had bent the ring during removal. We just took it to another reputable jeweler to have it assessed. Without us saying what transpired previously, the jeweler said that under magnification it appeared the break appeared to be fatigue related. I chose not to return to Beaudet's as based on our previous experience I was certain we would charged to "fix" once again inferior work and something an experienced jeweler should have recognized for foresaw previously. I went in with a drawing of some earrings that I wanted and Mr. Beaudet was very helpful in turning the drawing into real (beautiful) earrings while respecting my budgetary constraints. Very disorganized and slow I brought in a ring that I wanted re-set in a new setting as well as purchased additional stones from Beaudet to complete the new setting. I originally worked with Charles and he was very nice. However, that was my only encounter with him and the experience went steadily downhill from there. I brought the ring in early August and did not get it back until late November. I had also paid for and requested an appraisal. The appraisal never happened. I'd call and each time I spoke with someone, I never got an answer about when I'd get the appraisal. "Let me take your name and number and we will call you back" time and time again but NO ONE EVER CALLED ME BACK. By this time, a prong had failed and a stone began to spin in the setting, so I went back and they were very happy I did, because Andrew admitted that they had lost the appraisal (I don't think it was ever done). So again, it was promised in a week and it took three weeks and a LOT of pressure from me to be done. I always want to support locally owned businesses but if you want your jewelry repaired, I would not in good conscience recommend taking it to Beaudet. The post office moves more quickly than this store and at least the post office is organized. read more

The short of it is this: We couldn't have imagined a better experience than the experience we had with Nicole, the salesperson, and Chuck Beaudet himself. They are professional, incredibly skilled, work well with any budget, patient, friendly, and caring. Also, Beaudet is some kind of jewelry designing genius. We took our rough ideas to him, and he produced an absolutely stunning one-of-a-kind engagement ring for us, which we couldn't be happier with. He also stayed well within our budget. A month later, I asked a Beaudet staff person for professional photos of our ring so I could share the ring with family who don't live nearby. His staff emailed them to me the same day at no cost. The long of it is: My partner and I enjoyed a perfect engagement shopping experience at Beaudet Jewelry from beginning to end. Beaudet has been in Eugene for years, but I had never heard of him or his store. Early this summer I got a tip and started visiting Beaudet, trying on rings that were available in the store. It was really fun. Beaudet Jewelry provides the most excellent customer service. Nicole and Chuck were excited for us and were happy to work with any budget. Eventually it became clear that the rings they carried just weren't going to cut it. So, my partner and I started to sketch a rough idea of what we would like to see in our ring. Chuck listened carefully to what we wanted and together we created a design which Chuck carved into wax. I was able to try on the wax and I also saw a CAD of the ring (a 3-d image). We suggested changes, and Chuck then cast the ring as requested. We did not require a single change once the ring was cast, and it came out $300 shy of our budget. We absolutely love the ring as well as our excellent experience with Nicole and Chuck. A month after we bought the ring, I asked for photos of the ring to send around which they provided at no cost on the spot. We will be returning to Beaudet Jewelery for all our jewelry needs from now on. Our sincere thanks, Nicole and Chuck , for making engagement ring shopping such a wonderful experience. I ended up going with Beaudet for several reasons. #1 They did custom work, and I already had a diamond. #2 Nicole took the time to answer my questions and seemed happy to help me navigate ring buying. #3 Nicole gave me up-front, concrete quotes on how much various rings were rather than avoiding such discussion, as had one or two other jewelers. #4 Both Nicole and Mr. Beaudet took the time to explain things to me. I had never bought an engagement ring before and had little clue about various metals, how much they cost, etc. #5 I got the feeling they wanted to help me rather than "sell me" the most expensive thing they could. My fiance and I got our engagement band made by Mr. Beaudet. He spent about 2 hours with us discussing the design of the ring (as well as the concept of design!). This is the first negative review I've ever posted on yelp. I was referred by two close friends who personally know the owner, so it is even more surprising that I didn't receive better treatment. I initially went in to casually look at some wedding rings, and as my fiance and I began to get a better idea of a custom design, I later called Andrew with some questions. Andrew was aloof on the phone and unhelpful, especially when I struggled for some terminology to best explain my design. I then offered to email him a photo to better represent what we wanted. After doing that, I never received a response, so I called a week later, spoke with a woman, and I asked whether he had received it. She took my name down and said that she would personally make sure that someone get back to me as soon as possible. Three weeks later, still nothing. I called one last time three weeks later, and Andrew answered the phone. He said my email was on his desk and got moved, but he offered no apology or explanation. I obviously didn't want this kind of lackluster energy around the creation of our future wedding rings, so I decided to let it go. However, when one of the friends who referred me to Beaudet asked about the progress of my ring, I had to share the kind of disrespectful treatment I received. She went in and explained my experience to Andrew's father, the owner. Apparently, Charles "rolled his eyes," at the mention of his son's behavior, but that's all. After reading all the positive reviews on yelp, this whole experience left me befuddled. There was no reason for them to treat me so inconsequentially. Unfortunately, I have to mention that I am a person of color, and I hate to say that the treatment I received had anything to do with that. However, to be safe and assured that you will be treated with decency, you may want to go elsewhere to spend your time, energy, money and hope for creating your own beautiful wedding ring(s). read more

I don't usually write yelp reviews but this place is absolutely amazing. I have never been treated so well buy any type of business and I don't really look the part of anyone that has money of any type. From the moment I walked in the owner Charles took much time with me to discuss and teach me about diamonds. He sat down with me for a good hour just explaining to me the different quality and types of diamonds and the way that they are graded. Once I had finally decided on the size and a stone quality he searched out the perfect Diamond for me and it was absolutely amazing! Then came the ring. I had a lot of trouble deciding on exactly which one would be good for my fiancé and labored over it with multiple visits. When I did finally decide to pull the trigger on one and get a design sent in with the stone already sent the moment I saw and I realized it was not the right ring. Panic set in and I explain to them I couldn't use the design unfortunately and was prepared to take a large loss on the ring. They try to explain to me the other options that they could change the ring more to my liking and so on and so forth unfortunately I knew that it couldn't be changed enough that I could use this design and it was my fault for having seen it only in a magazine and not in person.at that point I just wanted to know what my loss was going to be so we could start over. They then informed me that there would be absolutely no charge. wow! I have never been treated so kindly by business they realized how much pressure I was under and how stressed out I was in that I had made a mistake and did not make me pay for it. Even though it cost them money very unlike a business in the staying age. Charles then took another hour of his time discussing which types of rings I would want and I am now currently waiting to see some before I decide to set the stone in them. All I can say is not only is everything a very high-quality there but the because the service is the best I've had of any business in my entire life. I figured the least I could do was write them this nice review since they have been so kind to me if you go in you will truly not be disappointed the staff are excellent people and truly care about giving you the best experience not just selling you something it's really amazing to see that. I am a first time customer of Beaudet Jewelry and I could not be happier about my experience. I spent about 6 months shopping and nation-wide jewelers before visiting Beaudet Jewelers. The big name jewelry stores treated my questions as an inconvenience and pushed me to make a decision quickly. They did not know much about the diamonds they were selling and it seems like they would say anything to have me buy a ring that I was not satisfied with. When I first visited Beaudet's I feared that because it was a local jeweler I would not be able to afford what I was looking for. I sat down with Sara and she explained what to look for in a diamond and provided me with a DVD how to buy a diamond. My girlfriend and I found a setting we liked and Sara informed me that it would take about 3 weeks to have the ring finished. I called her back later that day and told her I needed the ring done in a week in a half and they made special accommodations to make that happen. They ordered in several diamonds and I was able to pick out the one that I liked best. Ultimately, I got the exact ring that my fiance wanted and at the price that I wanted to spend. When comparing to the nation-wide jewelers I would have got a similar ring mounting but but I would have settled for a I1 diamond with a poor cut. At Beaudet's I got a VS1 clarity diamond with the best cut possible. I am so glad that I decided to buy local at Beaudet's because I got the best possible ring for my money. I will recommend them to anyone I know looking for jewelry and I will always go back there in the future. read more

I am incredibly happy with the engagement ring I got from Beaudet Jewelry. I went there for a birthday present, Valentine's, and then for the ring. Nicole was wonderful and showed us an astounding diversity of stones, they seemed to have just about everything in every size and color and cut. Charles Beaudet was incedibly knowledgable and helped me put together a stunning ring and even built the ring with a snagless setting so she could wear gloves for work. It was a great process and after a couple appointments with Charles we put together an amazing handmade setting with a stunning rare stone. I love Beaudet and they're always helping me find amazing works of art that are under my budget and always the center of attention; so far, at least one of our friends has decided to switch their department store ring for a Beaudet piece.
