Was very disappointed with the (lack of) service I received from Eugene and his assistant at Keller Williams Realty. He was referred to me by a friend, and I thought that would mean especially good customer service. I missed the initial red flag when in my first conversation with him he told me that his assistant, Erica , would also be assisting me, so I would get "two realtors for the price of one". What I failed to realize, at the time, was that he was simply passing me off to his assistant as he was focusing on luxury home sales. Had I known my single-family home purchase was too cheap for his time, I would have taken my business elsewhere. It would be one thing if Erica had been a knowledgeable real estate agent, but it soon became evident that I was likely her first or second client EVER, and she was completely green in real estate. I later discovered I knew more about the real estate market than she did! When I finally found a house that I was interested in making an offer on, Erica was totally useless in providing advice on the offer amount or any other aspects of the most important stage of the home-buying process. I reached out to Eugene for assistance, expecting he would assist with negotiations. He didn't even take time to do a market analysis or provide comps for other houses in the area. Instead, he simply gave his standard, "Offer $5K over. It's a seller's market". Hardly what you want to hear when you're the buyer and supposed to be represented by your realtor, who you understandably assume has your best interest in mind. I stumbled along uneasily with the buying process as this was my first home, and I was doing my best to trust the realtors who I thought had my best interest at heart. I was especially uneasy when the home inspector said there was hail damage to the roof. Erica dismissed my concerns about the roof even though I said I wanted a second opinion. At the ninth hour (just before the deadline to close), she finally asked someone to look at the roof. I had doubts on whether he was truly a licensed roofer as he walked on the roof for 30 seconds and said there was no hail damage. Needless to say, several roofers have been out since I purchased the house and each one has confirmed that there is indeed hail damage. Now I am stuck with having to pocket the cost of a roof replacement that shouldn't have fallen to me had my realtors had my best interest in mind. Erica also harassed and threatened me with several calls during the closing process saying I needed to decide on buying the house now and quickly, and while we were negotiating the sale price, at one point she said, "That will be too much for the seller". I was shocked! She was supposed to be representing me (the buyer) not the seller. The lack of customer service I was receiving made me want to walk away from the house as this was anything but a pleasant experience for a first-time home buyer, but I couldn't as I would be losing several thousand dollars of earnest money. I have a number of friends who were/are looking for homes, but I had to tell them that I cannot recommend Eugene or Erica based on my personal experience with them. I have since compared my experience with friends who selected other realtors and confirmed that my experience was sub par. I wasn't surprised when Erica didn't show up to my closing or leave a house-warming gift for my business (my friends' realtors did). Eugene and Erica were also reluctant to offer me the home warranty insurance typically paid for by the seller. It was my lender who educated me on this option (my friends' realtors made sure they got this...). It's my loss, and nothing can remedy what I went through, so I write this as an avenue to express my extreme disappointment with how I was treated. read more
