This airport is terrible. I avoid it at all costs even though its the closest airport to my parents' home in Albany. Every flight I've had that has gone out of this airport has been delayed. Two of which were over 6 hour delays due to fog and airplane issues. Delays aren't that bad if the airport has things to do, but this one has NOTHING. There are very few food options, all of which are SUPER expensive ($10 for a soggy chicken caesar wrap). They do have free wi-fi, but it's not enough. Not a fan. read more

This place is a joke. When my boyfriend and I were flying back home to Seattle from here, we needed to check with Alaska Airlines to get our boarding passes. There was no representative there, so we tried to check-in ourselves at the e-counter, which stated that they were unable to print our passes because we were too late for our flight. We there there 40 minutes before we were supposed to fly out. When we tried to ask a United Airlines representative about this, since they were the only representative at the counter, they were quick to brush us off and said they couldn't do anything about it and needed to talk to Alaska Airlines. We were desperate to make our flight, so we knocked on the Alaska Airlines door and no one would answer it. So, we tried to talk to the TSA attendant, who checks the boarding passes, and he was so checked out. He basically said that he couldn't do anything and that we could only talk to Alaska about this. When we asked if he could page or call them because we were trying to make our flight, he said he couldn't and then turned around so he wouldn't talk to us anymore. We later found out that our flight was the last one of the night at the airport, so everyone was trying to get home. Absolutely horrible. We ended up missing our flight home because no one was at the counter. read more

The employees at this airport are extremely friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, My American Airlines flight was delayed for 3 hours. The agent actually apologized over the intercom for the inconvenience multiple times! American provided snack boxes and water and the agent even invited people to take seconds. In addition, a female security officer assisted me in finding a mailbox (I'd purchased postcards from their gift shop). You'll get great great service with added kindness at the Eugene, Oregon airport! read more

This has to be the emptiest airport I have ever been in. I walked up and there was no one in line for the tsa check. I was literally through the line in 5 mins. Unfortunately, there also isn't very much to do inside so arriving early may lead to boredom. The airport is nice and quiet though so that's a bonus if you need some quiet before or during travel. They have two restaurants, two gift shops, and some car rentals. I'm only a little bitter because I was honest about the liquids I had with me and they made me throw my ketchup away. Had I not said anything, the ketchup would not be in the trash right now. I only know this because my boyfriend traveled out of here the day before with my face wash which was larger than my ketchup bottle. I know it's silly because it's ketchup but I can't get that ketchup down in California so I really wanted it. If you're going to make people throw stuff away because it doesn't fit guidelines, be equal and fair with it. I would rather have the ketchup than the face wash -_- Anyways, they are probably expanding the airport because they are currently undergoing construction. This airport is kinda cool because you have to walk out onto the tarmac to board the plane. read more

I'm pretty sure this place only has one terminal. I recently took a flight out of EUG to LA on Allegian air. The lady who sold me my milk and water said she was extremely overwhelmed because she was only used to flights with 20-120 passengers, and ever since Allegian showed up they'd been having flights to LA and Vegas with 250 passengers. I love how close it is to Corvallis and the fake fireplace and the kids play area. I do wish there were more food options, so that's why I didn't give it 5 stars. read more

This airport is convenient because it is small, but to get anywhere you usually have to fly to Portland first and then go from there which is a bit inconvenient. The airport feels like a sauna in the B gate area and I'm not a fan. The B gate area did get new carpet and a little bit of touch up done such as tables added and new paint, but it is random since people aren't eating meals to have meal tables placed. The lady at the Alaska booth named Angie was very nice and helpful and got our bags checked in very fast. The reason for the four star is the temperature. Making it a more reasonable and do able temperature for people to sit and wait in would be more ideal than the 80 degree temperature it currently is. read more

I fly on business occasionally, and for pleasure not as much as I'd like. Mahlon Sweet Field, as it is officially known, is pretty tiny as commercial airports go, which is both its strength and weakness. On the plus side, even at its busiest the security line is never too bad. The TSA agents are more chill than average (terrorists are not going to target this place). The walk to any gate is short. Parking and rental cars are easy. They are remodeling to make the many small planes moving in and out easier to take. The planes are small enough that you need to let them put larger carry-ons in the hold, and reclaim them on the jetway when you land, which is actually a plus in my book because people don't rush to get on board before the overhead bins fill up, or block the aisles as they struggle to get their bags in and out of the bins. The down side is not many options for destinations. You have to connect unless you're going to San Francisco, Seattle, Denver or a handful of others, and there is no service to Canada or Mexico. The interior is dated, and the layout with the only sit-down restaurant outside the secure area is left over from pre-9/11. Leaving early or arriving late can be a drag, since counters don't open until 5 at the earliest and close around 11. Alaska Airlines runs a very bare bones operation here, with not enough people to handle morning rush, but they are often the only option if you are going to Portland or Seattle. The location is pretty convenient to Eugene, 15 minute drive from downtown, but fog is a problem in the winter since this used to be a wetland. You must entertain yourself at the gates, because there is no real restaurant or even a TV anywhere. Fares can be pretty high compared to Portland. I fly out of here on business exclusively for the convenience. For pleasure trips I sometimes go from Portland for the lower prices and better choice of destinations. read more

Staff are good, when they are there. Just don't lose your luggage. You will never find an employee to help you. This airport is busy enough not to be a ghost town. My luggage got lost and at 9:45 on a Saturday night, with multiple flights coming in , there was no one at information, no one at any of the ticket booths, and no one even answering the phones when I called (from inside the airport). The shuttle people told me to go behind the ticket counter and knock on the door of the airline! What kind of service is that?! Come on Eugene read more

Love the Eugene airport. Its small so no long lines, free WiFi, and ample outlets to keep you charged up.

The people that service planes move at Eugene speed. Slow. There was a technical problem with the plane, a broken arm rest, and it took them about an hour to fix it. It made an hour flight to Oakland a two and a half hour flight. If there is a problem with the plane make sure to call the people that are picking you up and wait an hour or two. Literally the worst airport security experience I've ever had. They opened all three bottles of baby food to do long extensive tests. I had literally one gulp of water I forgot about in my water bottle. They made me leave my one year old to go back to drink it outside security and wait through security again. They took 6 inch deer antlers out of my bag, because I guess it seemed likely I was going to try to take over the plane with my antlers, baby food and 1 year old child. I will attempt to never fly out of this airport again if I can help it. Security has way too much time on their hands and no consideration for yours. read more

Eugene airport is probably one of the easiest airports to get in and out of quickly. I have flown in and out of Eugene on random occasions for the past 35 years, mostly with ease. However, Even I can easily get confused as this airport always seems to have some type of construction project going on. read more

I fly through here all the time when traveling. During my last trip to Little Rock, I had two connections. One through PDX and another through DFW which went very smoothly. However the trip back home to EUG I also had two connections. One through ORD and another through LAX. Please take note that at LAX something shitty ALWAYS happens to me with this airline. Anyway, when the plane landed in LAX, we sat there on the runway for about 30 minutes because another plane had not left yet then when we finally got the plane into the tarmac, we sat on the plane for another 45 minutes because they were waiting for someone to open the door. Then when we finally got inside, I walked up to the desk and asked if I could get an earlier flight home (because my flight didn't leave until 7:20pm that night) both times I asked I was told no! However, the second time the American airlines staff refused to put me on standby, they told me that it was because if they had a seat I would have to pay a $75.00 fee because I had a checked bag. WTF?! Last year when I flew this airline, I was delayed and an American airlines staff refused to help me find a hotel room and instead, she was practically BEGGING me to go on a flight to EUG that I'm pretty certain wouldn't get there until 1 am. So I had to put my foot down and tell her to look again. This was also the same year (last year, 2015) I almost lost my luggage too! Turns out, it was in Los Angeles the whole time after they PROMISED to put it on the next flight but that never happened. They also lied to my face about seeing my luggage. I didn't get it until the following Friday. I will not be flying with American airlines ever again! They are a horrible company! read more

Let's take a minute to talk about Karen. The ticket clerk who works front desk for Alligent. Now, I travel A LOT from Las Vegas, to Eugene. I've never had a problem with this airport until I met the miserable Karen. Instead of assisting me with question I had pertaining to a missed flight (caused my Alligent) she decides she's having a bad day & wants to be rude. When I asked her for her & her managers name she replied with, "I'm not giving you anyone's name." HA. She's very unprofessional and lacks any kind of human decency. I didn't get the other girls name who worked along side her because Karen "didn't want to give names" but she was a heavy set blonde girl with glasses, also VERY rude and VERY unprofessional. I wouldn't want these ladies working front desk at my establishment, and it's pretty embarrassing that they would allow employees to speak to their costumers like this. Remember Karen & said lady, the costumer is always right! Won't be flying through Eugene ever again. :) read more

Hey, I don't have too much to say about the Eugene Airport. It's quite tiny compared to my hometown airport in Las Vegas, but I really don't mind that at all. In fact, I prefer least traffic when it comes to the checkpoint routine and Eugene Airport doesn't disappoint here. Both times I came through here to board was quick and painless and took less than 30 minutes (if even). There's a spot to eat up on the upper and lower deck and a store where you can pick up a few snacks or some Ducks gear, if desired. Other than that, nothing but baggage claim, ticket counters, and rental car businesses. Quick, easy, and pleasant. read more

Eugene Airport is great because it's quick. I have never waited in long, awful lines for security or check in. Everyone is generally pretty pleasant as well. Much nicer when there aren't massive amounts of people shoving you around. It's definitely more of a human experience traveling here. The one thing it does lack though, is amenities at the gate. There's a large restaurant downstairs, but if your gate is upstairs and you've already been through security, you really don't want to go through that all over again for a bite. There's a cafe which will do the job, but it really lacks. Grab food first, then head upstairs. Problem solved. read more

This is a nice small little airport. It serves a number of cities and has enough service to make it fairly useful. I enjoyed how quickly I could go from front door to gate, that was nice. The gentleman in the one little quick shop was very very nice and helpful with my purchase. Even the TSA agents were much nicer than normal. For a small city like Eugene it's pretty far (almost 30mins) from the city. Other than that it gets the job done and is an easy airport to use. read more

If you have to use this airport, make sure to come in as early as possible to check in. I'm talking at least an hour or two. We came in 30 min before take off due to heavy traffic from Depoe Bay to the airport. Went to the American Airlines check-in desk and no one was there. Only people around were TSA agents who told us they didn't know what to do and after a while to stop bothering them or they would call the police. Extremely frustrating just standing at an empty desk with no one to help you, no way of paging a check-in associate, just watching the clock tick by while you hear your name being paged for boarding - which you can't do because you can't check in. Finally about a half hour later the associate showed up, apparently they use the same employee to check people in downstairs and then send the employee upstairs to board passengers onto the plane. So basically there's one person from American Airlines running back and forth between checking people in and boarding them on the plane and if you're not there before they leave you're SOL. Obviously we missed our flight. So now instead of taking a nonstop flight to Phoenix and arriving around 2:30 pm we're taking a connecting flight from Eugene to LAX to PHX finally arriving around 11:30 pm instead. But hey, what's a 9 hour difference, right!? Oh and btw I'm traveling with a broken foot. Hope this review sheds some light on the ridiculous situation going on at this airport. read more

I've been to the Eugene airport a few times now but not since it's been remodeled. The great thing about small airports is less wait time and it's an easy escalator ride up to the gates without being a maze like larger airports. The staff here have many rolls and usually the people who check you in at the counter are the ones who take your boarding pass so it's likely you'll see some familiar faces as you depart and arrive. My boyfriend was able to purchase a decently priced local bottle of wine from one of the stores inside which was great for a last minute gift. He also told me that he enjoyed a sandwich that didn't seem as expensive as most other airports. I like that this airport is stress free and quiet. I have had issues with delays but I don't blame that on the airport. I'll have to update my review when I see what updates they have made but for now my experiences here have been pleasant. I've never had a bad experience with security and hope I don't have that issue like some other Yelpers have mentioned. Being dropped off and picked up in front is really easy and they even have rental cars here. read more

And there's so much more to bring my review down to a 1 star. How can the people in Oregon be so nice yet all of the airport workers are unfriendly jerks? Not only were the airlines rude and disrespectful, the security checkers didn't say a word except chat with their coworkers. Although this place is improving it has a long way to go. The seating is uncomfortable. I am stuck due to icy conditions and there is NO heating in the building whatsoever. Its 22 degrees and i have to spend 15 hours or more here. I was going to pay for a a taxi but there is no taxi at 6 am who would bring me back since they are all book due to being crazy bewteen the hours of 4 and 6 am. The Willamette grill is closed off to those who get stuck outside (w/o flights)and the cafe closes at 8. Leaving us to eat vending machine foods which is filled with chips, cookies and candy(no healthy foods except canned tuna for 6$). Most of the seats are ripped too and some dont even have the back to rest on . Its best to get a quick and easy flight so you can avoid all of the above. Additionally i was told that eugene airport does not have the equipment to deal with icy conditions. Dont even get me started on Delta.only one person was dealing with the whole flight mess. She was a mess, messed my itinerary, had to wait about an avg 40 mins in line to get an answer. Additionally she was alone for most of the time and it took forever to get a handle on the situation. read more

The main pro of this place is proximity. Being able to fly out of my home town and not drive two hours north is very convenient. The security is always fast, the boarding has always been on time, and the size isn't as daunting as some. However, that does have some drawbacks. The baggage claim is a bit of a chore and often involves four plane's worth of people standing around waiting for the ear splitting siren to go off signifying your baggage is next. read more

For personal travel, I don't recommend flying out of Eugene unless money is no object to you. It is much cheaper to take the Amtrak up to Portland and fly out of PDX. I have used this airport several times for business travel, and it is the most laid back, hassle-free airport ever. One nonstop flight per day goes to/from SFO and LAX, but you will pay a premium for a direct flight. I get The Man to pony up for it, because it really shouldn't take longer to go to SF by plane than it would to drive there. First off, there are only ten gates. I have never seen more than two departures being prepared at any given time. What this means for you, the traveler, is that you don't have to abide by the OMG ARRIVE TWO HOURS BEFORE YOUR DEPARTURE nonsense and spend a bunch of time loitering around an airport, which in my book ranks slightly above a dentist's waiting room for entertainment value. I arrive one hour in advance, which gives me plenty of time to check a bag, get my boarding pass, go through security, and get a bite to eat before I board. If you don't plan to eat, you could cut it closer, but I don't recommend this if you have liabilities such as multiple bags to check, small children, or a degree of technofear and/or stupidity such that you can't figure out the automatic check-in kiosk. If you do plan to eat, there are a couple of options. Downstairs Wings Bar & Grille has local microbrews on tap and food (burgers, sandwiches, salads, steak, seafood) that is pretty good. You won't feel shamelessly gouged by their prices, and the atmosphere is kinda classy. In short, you won't feel like you're eating at an airport. It's located before the security checkpoint, so if you have people coming to pick you up, they can go have a beer and a bite while they wait. Upstairs, on the way to the A gates, is a coffee shop and deli with overpriced premade sandwiches, muffins, and tiny croissants for $3. The coffee is Full City, and the folks here do know how to make decent espresso. What most people don't know is that they also offer two soups - typically one meat or seafood affair and one meatless. You can get a large cup (they call it a bowl) of soup, packets of oyster crackers, and a roll for under $5. This is probably the best deal you can get in an airport anywhere. The soup has always been rather yummy too; I'm not talking gourmet, but the ingredients were good quality, the soup was not too salty, and while not as filling as a meal, it is enough to take the edge off. This week I enjoyed their broccoli cheddar. I deduct one star for the ladies' room near the A gates, which is beat up and didn't inspire confidence cleanliness-wise. A special circle of hell should be reserved for the inventor of the TP dispenser with a rod so stiff (har) that only one square can be pulled at a time. If you have to #2, pray for a clean break. I want to end on a positive note, so I will reiterate a point made by the last reviewer, because it's pretty important. The WIFI is FREE. Suck it, LAX. read more

This is by far the worst experience I have ever had at an airport! My husband and I arrived to the airport for a departure to Houston on the morning of 09/24. One of the TSA body scanners was not working and there were over 100 people in line. They were taking each person one by one through the one scanner that was working and not in order of priority of flight departures. They were making zero accommodations for people whose flights were leaving in mere minutes. They finally said all active duty military personnel were free to proceed forward to the front of the line line, when a gentleman in front of us asked ''what about veterans'' the TSA agent made a smug remark of 'nope, sorry'. How is this any way to treat people let alone an issue that was the airport's fault?! When my husband and I finally made it through the check point, we had only 30 seconds before they closed our gate to make our flight. Sprinting to the gate that we were told was ours by a TSA agent (because our gate was not printed on our boarding passes) we were abruptly told by one of the gate agents it was a different gate downstairs. After sprinting yet again to our gate downstairs, it had already closed and we missed it by literally 2 minutes. The gate agent refused to let us through even though the entire ordeal of getting through security was the airport's fault and no communication was ever made that it was boarding. All the gate agent did was give me the number to customer service to reschedule our now missed flight. Horrible customer service and a horrible experience. I live in Eugene but will never flight out of this airport again. read more
