the big issue that came out was with the owner of this company. i was the maid of honor for my sisters wedding and was present for the phone calls that ensued as well as have screenshots of the texts. my sister hired Ethereal Beauty Bridal (specifically Camille) well in advance for her wedding hair and makeup. On April 3 she drove over an hour for a trial, was very happy with the results, paid $240 + tip for the trial and confirmed she would be using the stylist who owns this company. About a week later she gets a text from the artist saying for personal reasons she could not attend the date of my sisters wedding. This wouldn't be a big deal, however my sister had just had a trial and paid $240 for someone to do her makeup who wouldn't even be there on wedding day. The owner set up for other artists to attend day of wedding, but offered no remedy in terms of monetarily solutions or suggestions, until my sister had asked if she could be refunded for the trial since at this point it was pointless, another girl would be doing the hair and makeup anyway. The owner agreed and refunded my sister the $240. (She also stated she would be telling the girl exactly how she did the makeup on my sister, and this did not happen. My sister and the artist that did show up had to walk through the process together as much as my sister could remember. Shoutout to kelseyannartistry for being so amazing!) In the week leading up to the wedding, she had changed the schedule to include another artist, because one girl could only come for half the morning and the other would show up for the other half. Let me reiterate, this girl was added because of a timing/scheduling issue on part of the artists. The bride did not need expedited services, there was plenty of prep time and if we needed to start earlier we gladly could've. This was not run by my sister, the other artist was just added. Again, didn't change the schedule, so fine, whatever.
The afternoon BEFORE MY SISTERS WEDDING, she gets a text from the owner who explains the total is due. She also tells her "A little update on the total. The additional travel fees for the girls going out tomorrow weren't included after I made the timeline" and gave a new total which was $250 more than originally stated in the contract, and had been agreed upon MONTHS before. My sister refused to pay for a last minute additional fee, and sent her the original agreed upon balance. When the owner asked about the rest, my sister straight up said she would not be paying that under any circumstance, she would be paying the agreed upon, CONTRACTED, price. The owner said she could not send the girls out without this additional fee being paid. The owner then called my sister, and when my sister was explaining why she wouldn't pay, began to yell over her, just repeating "NO, NO, NO, NO" so my sister hung up the phone and texted her she would not be getting in a screaming match over the phone with her. The owner then said my sister did not have to pay the additional price and would send the girls out in the morning as scheduled, but included a screenshot of the contract where it states:
"Bride agrees that in the case additional artists need to be added on due to limited preparation time, Client will pay an additional travel fee required per each additional artist not specified in quote."
Let me be clear, there was NO limitations on preparation time. If they wanted to keep it at 3 artists and start 2 hours earlier, that's fine. The limitations all started when the originally artist cancelled, had 3 girls fill in for the bridal party, and then could not honor the contracted times. This was 100% at no fault of the bride, or the bridal party, and by following the contract that SHE WROTE, the bride should not be responsible for the additional fee as another artists was NOT added due to limited preparation time.
The owner of this company was rude, unprofessional, and honestly just seems in way over her head. My sister has a law degree, our family has had members who have worked in contracts for years, and more than one of us has a degree in business. We know how to read and honor a contract. She very obviously doesn't understand her own contract, and I hope she is embarrassed by the way she spoke to my sister both through text and over the phone. To add so much stress to someone's plate the NIGHT BEFORE their wedding is abysmal.
The 4 girls who actually did show up and do their job were friendly, organized, and professional. My recommendation to them is to get away from a collegue that will ultimately lose them business, or until she can get her act together and be an organized professional. read more
