I had travelled from Ireland after following Matt on line during lockdown and coming on holidays to see my daughter she surprised me with an appointment last year for my birthday.. I've been going to Brian at Salon Gratitude now for eight years and I can't imagine ever going anywhere else! My whole family and now my husband enjoy his great sense of humor and amazing talent. Brian has worked me with through so many stages of my hair from a short bob, to toning it pink, to growing it long and healthy for my wedding day....which he styled me for! Balayage king! I was not happy with their service however, the stylist was super nice. I went in for a haircut and color. She colored my hair and then used a toner ( bc I wanted to tone down the brassy tone I had in my hair) when the toner wasn't right she used a different toner. In the end it wasn't the color I was hoping for but oh well I suppose. Then when she was drying my hair I noticed my hair looking frizzy and just awful. It looked like their blowdrier was burning my hair. I had to stop her before I left there with a frizz ball of hair. My hair type is mostly sraight with some waves and I don't usually have an issue with frizz. So to see that was shocking. I use sol solano at home and my hair looks silky smooth when I blowdry. She wanted to cut my hair dry, so no hair cut for me that day but I still paid for it. In the end I left there looking like a distraught wet rat. The other thing that bothered me was that her manager or the other person working there who seemed to have more authority didn't say anything. Like maybe say "why is she leaving looking like that"? So yes my hair was toned twice probably bad for my hair and I didn't get a haircut which i really wanted and I wasn't happy with the color. In the I still paid for it and I gave her a 20% tip bc I'm nice. This is just a reivew from my experience. read more

Fun, relaxed atmosphere with professionals who know their craft, and seek to improve. I'm a female executive in my 40s so I need to look professional and age appropriate. I started going to Thad in September and loved what he did with my cut and highlights. He used the Balayage process and conditioned my hair with Olaplex. It has never looked better! I've seen Thad three times now. He is very open to feedback, makes sure I am comfortable with the style, and takes his time. The salon is really nice and has a great vibe. My friends kept joking with me that I would have to leave New Jersey to find a good salon - and they were right! Salon Gratitude is laid back, comfortable, and friendly. The owner, Matt, is more than happy to answer any questions. I saw Thad for my hair cut and it had been a couple of months. He did a great job, and then took the time to show me alternate ways to style it. There was no pressure to buy any of the products. One nice thing about this salon is that they are also into the education side of the business. That means that the stylists are keeping up with trends and techniques, which is a good thing. My first appointment with Danielle was a hair cut. It came out pretty good, nothing drastic, more of a trim but it she did a good job. After consulting about highlights and color, I decided to go back for color/lights. Again, great job except she didn't follow my request to be careful around the back with highlights, as it was still growing out damage and bad layers in the center. I told her I had been growing it out for at least the past yearS. When i got home there was bad dryness in the back where i asked her to be careful but it looked great so i did lots of treatments. Third visit, touch up and cut. This was a debacle. She definitley changed the color to a much darker shade, insisting it was the same. She also went back over the back and made it even worse, it's so damanaged now. I lost the integrity of that whole outer layer, i know because you can see the chunky messy bleach. She also did a bad job on the hair cut and I don't understand why such a drastic difference from first appointments to the follow up. read more

Salon Gratitude is awesome, and Sergio Delgado is the man. I was honestly a little hesitant at first, having grown up thinking "men go to barbers, women go to salons", but my experience here could not be any better. There are three things you should never hear a hairdresser say: "It'll look better when you get home." (it always looks better when you leave the shop, and that's not a way to handle someone's complaint that they don't like their cut.) "Play with it a few days and then you can call me." (It wasn't explained what would happen when I did call, which is that I didn't receive a call back.) "You can put product in it at home to make it look better." (Even though every cut I had in the past didn't require product to look good.) A haircut is something that can't or shouldn't be explained or excused. It is self-explanatory. You can't go to a party the next night and say: "My hair looks ridiculous, but I am playing with it." The cut is in the cut. Nothing else. One other thing that has been said about haircuts: Vidal Sasoon said if someone takes a razor to your hair, run! I should have. Why would you thin someone's hair who has naturally thick hair, especially when they've said the thing they want most out of the haircut is body and volume? Sergio was the one who cut my hair. He was very nice at the salon, and that might lead you, as it did me, to believe he knew what he was doing, or cared. But I had to live with it for weeks (and still am) after he cut it, no matter how nice he was for the hour I was there. When I commented that my hair on one side looked like it was bare, he said "I thought you were worried about your hair staying behind your ears." Yes, but I didn't want to look like a chunk had been taken out of my hair either. These things are not mutually exclusive. So he fixed that. What was this--Haircut by collaboration? Why would he let me, or anyone, for that matter, leave with hair that looks bad in any way? And make excuses about what was bad? When I went back to get a repair or ask for my money back, the shop was closed. (Thank God, because now I understand the insanity of trying to get a repair from the place that gave you a terrible cut in the first place). Another woman was there, too, and had a terrible story about a coloring that went badly wrong. People have gone to the salon in Lambertville--I believe Zanya--to get repairs from this shop, and I think that salon may have reason to open a special section of their shop to do this (perhaps they can hold group therapy sessions, as well.) It is really too bad. I tried a place on faith (and Yelp! reviews), and a great name, and the fact that it is a Paul Mitchell salon, and it failed, badly. I'm still waiting for it to grow out (another thing you shouldn't hear a hairdresser say, but that was said, as well.) read more

I love this place! :) It is the first salon that I have returned to on a consistant basis. I live in Philly, but work around the corner from this salon. It was easier for me to find a place in New Hope, so that I could get my hair done after work. I found this place on a whim (probably from other yelp reviews), and Drea (sp?) was my stylist for a cut and color. She nailed it! I've been getting the same color now from her for 8 months. I'll trust her again when I want to switch it up. And, it's a pretty good deal compared to other salons - I think the cut alone is ~$40, and color is $70. read more

So glad to stumble upon this place, and so sad to not have known about it sooner! I don't think I've ever walked into a salon and left with exactly what I wanted, until today. I wanted natural looking highlights, and was shocked to actually leave with natural looking highlights. They use this "no foil method" (there's an actual name, but don't remember) and it really looks like I went sailing around the sea for a couple months. My stylist was Thad, and I can't wait to have him trim my hair in two weeks! He listened to exactly what I wanted and didn't try to push me to get any additional services, as many other salons do. Everyone there was polite, nice, and very helpful. Prices aren't overpriced as so many other salons in New Hope are, and I was able to get an appointment the same day I called. read more

Salon Gratitude is the simply the best hair salon. I used to be a salon hopper until I discovered this place. Sergio is my go to guy - he is a perfectionist at his craft! He listens to what you want, if you don't know he helps you visualize what he plans to do, and then he executes - flawlessly. The salon is known for color as they share their expertise within the industry as educators - traveling to train other stylists - yet they are less expensive than the salons in this area . The salon is located right in the heart of New Hope - and has the same artsy flare and edge that the town does. I love the fact that they are open on Sundays! I've been going to Salon Gratitude for about 3 years now. Matt is absolutely amazing- and makes sure you leave happy. He takes the time to listen to what it is you want and he's sure to leave you satisfied. So I didn't want to have to write this here. I tried reaching out to the Salon directly to discuss but they have not bothered to return my multiple calls in the past three weeks. I have had some good experiences here but the last two have gone from bad to worse. On my previous visit, after three hours I mentioned the visit was taking a while. In response, the stylist became frazzled and rushed to finish. When I left the Salon my scalp began burning. In the rush, it seemed she had left coloring product in my hair. Honest mistake so I gave her another chance. Worst decision ever. I arrived at my appointment a few minutes early. And, then waited twenty minutes or so for her to finish up her previous client, including waiting for her to take photos of the client's hair. The entire time I was sat right behind the stylist who did not even acknowledge that I was waiting. Once, I sat down in the chair, the stylist made some derogatory remarks about the length of my hair. It was long, yes, but that is my preference. She said she was going to cut 6 inches off and I said maybe a few but not 6. She proceeded to cut what she wanted off my hair and chop in layers. I told her she was cutting way too much and she commented again that she liked it. Which is fine, but I didn't. Additionally, I mentioned the issue from the previous visit which she laughed off. She put in a few highlights and then finished up. When she rang me up, the total cost seemed much higher than normal but I chalked that up to my memory. When I left, I checked past receipts and indeed this visit was nearly twice the price. As I mentioned, I did try contacting the Salon several times with no luck. The stylist herself called and left a message proactively telling me she wasn't happy with the highlights and wanted me to come in for her to fix. One, the highlights are not my issue as there were only three or four. Two, no way am I letting her near my hair again! read more

I have been going to Matt Beck for my hair for the past five years. He does excellent color and cuts, and I trust him completely with my hair. I booked an appointment with Matt weeks ago. I received an automated confirmation request 2 days before the appointment. Then, with less than 24 hours to go before the appointment, I received a call telling me Matt would not be able to cut my hair. When I explained that I drove 2 hours from out of state just for this appointment I was told the person I was speaking with was "just the messenger". When I asked if he could possibly accommodate me later tonight or another time tomorrow, I was told he was out of state. I was given NO explanation for why I was not called the moment the salon knew he would be unable to make the scheduled appointment. It was just "a mistake". They offered to reschedule me (not helpful since I'm not driving 2 hours for an appointment with someone who doesn't keep their appointments) or to let me get my hair cut with a new person. I declined because if I wanted to try someone new, I would have, and because I honestly can't feel comfortable giving my money to a place that thinks so little of my time and my opinion. Yes, my hair looks great when Matt cuts it, but there is such a thing as customer service and actually caring about the amount you inconvenience your customers and I expect that too. read more
