I don't really write reviews but I was incredibly impressed and pleased with my hair after coming to Apotheca. I'm not local and come to Bethlehem around 2/3 times a year to see my grandparents, and from now on I'll only get my hair done when I come out here. The atmosphere was so amazing, everyone was chatting, music was good, and my stylist Ashley was so attentive and did better than I imagined. She fixed my hair and in only an hour. I had really high hopes for Apotheca they were highly recommended. I'm not real picky about my hair, and have never left a bad review for a buisness before. However i really feel Apotheca needs to know about my experience. I walked out with the second worst hair cut of my life. I asked for a shag hair cut, with curtain bangs. I ended up with some sort of bob like cut. My bangs were utterly destroyed. The stylist took a weird blunt chunk out of the center, and didn't blend them. I have a weird mix of long and short chunks for bangs now. To their credit a senior stylist 'fixed' my bangs-its better than what the original stylist did, but it's still a step below good. I realize I was given to a junior stylist, and it's a learning process, but I think she really needs a senior stylist to take her under their wing and mentor her. I certainly will not be going back. read more

I had a wonderful experience at this salon on 4/1/19. I had been looking for a new hair salon for many months and stumbled across this gem in Bethlehem. I was looking to get a trim with highlights for the summer. I called to schedule an appointment the morning I went to get the work done and was so happy they could fit me in! The salon was so cute! Clean and very fresh looking. They offered to take my coat for me as soon as I arrived and the front desk attendant was very accommodating and friendly at check in and check out. Bonnie took care of me, offered me a refreshment, and took her time with the work. She listened to what I wanted and we discussed what would look best based on my coloration. It was my first time here and I was pleasantly surprised by the friendly service and quality of hair cut that I got, I also thought the prices were reasonable and the place was clean and has the added bonus of a cute boutique to browse! I was referred to Julie for an appointment for a facial while in town. I no longer live in the Lehigh Valley but was in need for a good facial. I'm so glad I came but Julie's facial was excellent. Although parking on 3rd street can be a bit of a nightmare I was able to find something just a block or two away...do bring quarters or have your credit card ready because Bethlehem loves their parking meters! The salon was bright and fun, it was really busy and high energy. I checked in and pursued the products they had for sale. Julie came out to greet me within minutes and took me to the treatment room. We had a quick chat about my skin concerns and routine and then she left so I could get changed and situated. The room was cozy, good temperature and relaxing. Despite being a busy salon you couldn't hear any of that within the room itself which is great. Julie provided a thorough facial and used products that smelled great. She does an excellent facial massage and after massaging your hands they are wrapped in these heaters that provide moisture to your hands, it was heavenly. I will definitely be back the next time I am back in town. read more

This salon is very overpriced for the poor work that they do. If you are not a regular client they stick you with someone new who has no idea what they're doing. I recently got extensions put back in that costs $400! She also put them in HORRIBLY. My head hurt so badly afterwards I had to take some out to relieve the pain. I left the salon with a blowout that had zero volume and my hair was flatter than I've ever seen it in my life. I would not trust these people. Some might be experienced the new person I had was awful and my hair is ruined. read more

Amanda is beyond fabulous! I wish I could give her a 10 star rating! This is the first time I've been a client at Apotheca but I can tell you it definitely won't be the last. I'm approaching 38 years old so it's definitely time to take care of my skin. I wanted to get a facial see what it was all about and talk to her about a good skin care regiment. First of all the space is very calm, clean & comfortable. One of the first questions Amanda asked me was if there's anything that she needed to be concerned about with my skin so she knew exactly what to expect. I know some people like to relax during a facial but I'm a talker and was asking tons of questions and she was very informative of each step that she was taking. I loved the cleanser that she used before we started the facial she said it was something that she personally used as well. She was telling me how it would literally melts her make-up off her face ( let's be honest were all looking for a fabulous cleanser to remove our make-up, especially mascara ). Something I really wasn't expecting during the facial was she massaged my shoulders, my hands & my forearms she also said that she does a foot massage, that was something I passed on only because I'm very ticklish. Another thing that I really loved about Apotheca is that it's not just a salon they have the cutest little boutique, so I was lucky enough to walk out with this long amazing black duster that I've been searching for for so long and it was 40% off! Plus the facial cleanser ( little barn apothecary )that she used on my face I was able to purchase as well, the product was organic oil based and has a fabulous aroma. Just got back from my appointments this afternoon and had to write a review! Apotheca was wonderful. I wanted to give a Brazilian wax a go and this salon and Amanda came highly recommended. I was nervous going in to the waxing procedure but Amanda made it quick and relatively painless. She was nice to talk to and made me feel at ease. I also received a spa pedicure from Kim. It was a great experience. The pedi was relaxing and I loved having the option of getting a paraffin wax. She too, was truly lovely, and pleasant to chat with. I highly recommend Apotheca for its waxing and nail services. The boutique had a lot of cute items such as jewelry, clothing and other accessories. I picked up an awesome hat on the way out for my upcoming trip to the beach. Thanks Apotheca! read more

Pros: - Place is SUPER cute - Staff is REALLY friendly - Very clean, everyone is very attentive - Offers you water/tea when you walk in. - Very accommodating to your needs - Very reasonably priced - Selection for nailpolish is pretty good especially the schlack types I walked in with an appointment I made an hour prior on Saturday afternoon and they had an immediate opening for a manicure. When I came in, I barely waited 3 mins before I was greeted by the manicurist, Kim. Kim was super nice and took me to their manicure area, which was clean and relaxing. The whole space is really cozy and friendly, unlike most stark white salons. It's clear that they put a lot of time into decorating the place and making it welcoming. My manicure was quick and was possibly the best one I ever had! I will definitely be returning for future manicures, and I will probably be coming in for their waxing and hair services as well. Honestly, I'm a very picky person and once I found a great place I stick to it. And I can say, hands down, this is probably the best places in Bethlehem! Update: I did go back to get my hair colored and trimmed. Kristle came highly recommended, by another employee- Kim, so I thought I'd give it a go. I never had my hair colored before and needed a change. I told Kristle my hesitations but my need for change and that I was open to anything. It's like she read my mind and helped me decide on a color that would compliment my skin complexion. She knows her stuff and I highly recommend her! Additionally, the layers she gave me was pretty phenomenal and my hair is very thankful for her. Probably the best haircut I have ever received. Honestly. Amazing. I love this place. I was pretty scared to ever get my brows waxed, and Amanda not only did an amazing job waxing them, but she knows how to shape them perfectly. She has the best eye for making sure you look great, and she's super fast and efficient!! I highly recommend Apotheca salon, and specially Amanda, for getting waxed! I Love (with a capital L) this place. I come in regularly for waxings with Amanda and cut and color with Ryan. They both do awesome jobs and are super friendly. Amanda is quick and professional. Ryan is a riot! Total sweetheart, fun to talk to, and I'm always extremely pleased with my hair. Highly recommend them both. The boutique out front is cute too, a bit expensive, but sometimes it is nice to splurge. Note: You can't tip on your credit card, so bring cash. I am the type of person to always leave positive reviews but this unfortunately is where I am at. I came in for a color appointment where I was told one thing and delivered another. I received a botched "balayage" and was told to wash it 6 or 7 times and I'd like the color better or only then should I come back in. It wasnt only the color that was the problem, it was the overall "bleach and tone" look that was done leaving a ring of roots about 3 inches around the base of my head and blotchy lightened ends worse than if I had applied it myself at home. I had called that same day because it was just not ok and told if I wanted it corrected I had to go to the same person who didn't have any evening or weekend availability. I took PTO to come back in and all that was done was a bleach wash and a new toner, no correction to the lightening/roots...and I was CHARGED for a blowout. I ultimately paid over $300 for a horrible job and the salon didn't reach out at all following the experience. After getting my hair fixed somewhere else and taking time to let this pass by, I just couldn't let it go. I reached out to speak to management in hopes this would help prevent a situation like this from happening again and to possibly get at least the additional charge for the blowout refunded. I was told to send pictures and after two weeks of no response I followed up. I get a two-sentence response saying because I waited to follow up about my experience they would not be refunding me. Their salon posts beautiful hair on their instagram and I believe the majority of their staff put out great work but the way they handled this experience just sits terribly with me. I hope this prevents anything like this from happening in the future. read more

P.S. I saw Melissa again last week for a cut n color / highlights. Unlike other salons, you don't sit in the chair all day. She's efficient and she knows what she is doing. I started going to Ryan at Apotheca about 2 months ago for hair and color. He is WONDERFUL!!! A brilliant color artist and master stylist. He is also full of personality and so much fun to talk with. The salon is very relaxed and welcoming. They treat you like royalty without being pretentious. Today I decided to get my eyebrows waxed and a Brazilian wax. I got a Brazilian years ago in NY but never tried anyone locally. Julie did a wonderful job and it was a painless as a Brazilian wax can be. I've already booked another waxing in 5 weeks. Honestly, I really like this place. The atmosphere, the people, and the cleanliness are all really great. However, I'm giving this place 3 stars because of how disappointing my hair cut was. I usually just get my eyebrows done (shoutout to Amanda because you always do mine so wonderfully), but one day I went in for a haircut. My hairdresser was Ashley and she was super cool, but she left soap in my hair after washing in and I had to go back and rinse it out. She also took so long to blow dry my hair and when I left the salon, my hair was still damp. My haircut doesn't look bad, but what I asked for it's bad. I wanted simple layer and all I have now are disappointing and uneven cuts. Maybe Ashley was having an off day or the other hair dressers are better? But I will definitely never be getting another hair cut there again. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this salon. I have been here for facials, mani's and eyebrow waxing. Each visit was was wonderful! There is def not a snotty vibe, but a warm, inviting atmosphere. I've had Julie for waxing and facials, and she is wonderful. Personable, professional and knows just the right amount of conversation for the service she's providing. The facials are truly wonderful! And it is nice to have someone who understands a more 'natural' eyebrow look, and didn't just wax off everything making me always have the surprised look. This place has never let me down. I have my hair done by Courtney and she ALWAYS does a fantastic job. She understands exactly what I'm looking for and if it isn't something that's going to work with my hair she lets me know, but she also makes recommendations for a cut or color or style along that same look that WILL work for me. I've had plenty of hair experiences at other salons, and this has by far outweighed every bad experience I've had. Went for a Brazilian and it was horrible! I usually go to EWC where they use hard wax and I've never had an issue. But at apotheca they used regular wax and it was the most painful service I've ever gotten. Not only was it painful but my skin got a terrible reaction and broke out everywhere. For at least two weeks my skin was extremely tender, sore, and red. Maybe apotheca has better hairstylists but I would never go there for a wax!! read more

WOW!! Total shocker!! All seemed great by looks only! Nice atmosphere only! And this case, don't judge a book by its cover! Way too much went wrong from the front line receptionist always having a miserable disposition and never hiding it, to a crazy long, long, long, wait while sitting at the shampoo bowl... just waiting for the shampoo, And anything extra they decide to unnecessarily put on your hair just to charge you more! BTW.. Their shampoos are far too intense when receiving color! You should always only receive a very light shampoo when having a color procedure. Now to add insult to injury, the so called stylist I had, Sliced my haircut when I only needed the ends cut off... a trim, and my color was way off!? I Let the cut go because... well. Nothing I could do but let it grow, and have it re cut by someone else, who knows what to do. The color should have a very simple fix, however, after being so nice about it, this unprofessional stylist argued and argued With me, and pretended like I didn't understand?! I really am very reluctant to do a bad review about any business, as I know how damaging it can be if there is just a personality conflict or something that's just not true, but this is considered a top rate salon at top prices and I felt you all should know the truth about my experience! No one is perfect and I am well aware of that and more than willing to work with a stylist with my hair, as important as it is of course, but not when they are going to argue with me instead of simply tweaking it to my liking or the way it should be! read more

This is my second review for Apotheca because I realize that though I have been going here for a couple of years already, I have never given a proper review for the aesthetician services that I come for most often - waxing (Brazilian, eyebrows) and eyebrow tinting! I see Christina and she is super professional and precise. I always leave here feeling fresh and smooth and she is always friendly and sweet. I highly recommend Apotheca for a manicure; I highly suggest going elsewhere for hair color. First, the good, their manicures are not cheap, I believe they are $20 but they use Deborah Lippman polishes, which are high quality and they take their time to do an absolutely perfect job. The manicurist was extremely pleasant and polite. Now for the bad, again, the colorist was extremely nice and I enjoyed our conversation. I felt that the job she did was fine -- nothing special -- but the bill came as a nasty shock. I paid about $100 for a few streaks of bleach and a blow out (which was extra and not explained to me in advance... NICE!) The place is very cute, they have other items for sale -- similar to what you might find at Anthropologie. read more
