I live in NYC but visit Bethlehem fairly regularly and since I had been having issues with what seemed like every hair stylist I've tried ( that or they were $$$), I decided to try and get my hair cut here after finding it on yelp. It didn't disappointed. My first time I just came in for a trim and a balayage with Nikki. She did a great job so I decided to come back to The Salon when I was in the area. From my understanding Nikki no longer works here but I was quickly set up with an appointment with Mandy. I requested an appointment through yelp and they responded faster than any company I've experienced. Setting up an appointment was quick and easy and the next day I was in the chair. I wanted to go shorter and lighter, and Mandy talked through it all with me in detail which was appreciated. We went on the conservative side since Mandy didn't want to do a drastic change without knowing how my hair handles color, and told me if I wanted to do more of either to come in again the next day. Mandy worked some magic and by the end my hair looked great. After I showered the next day I realized while I did like my hair, it wasn't as short or as light as I had gone in hoping it would be. I reached out to the salon and within two hours was back in the chair. Mandy was so understanding and dedicated to giving me exactly what I wanted and she most definitely did. I would recommend her to anyone, especially if you know exactly what you want in mind, because she is able to communicate with you very well. I came in to get color. My wedding is in a few days so I wanted a clean dramatic dark shade. I had been here one before and was pleased with the work, so I was confident when I booked again. My stylist was double booked for my color treatment. That's fine if you can manage the time but it took almost 3 hours for me to get a color and gloss. I had black dye on my skin. I dye my hair at home and I would never dream of getting it on my skin let alone leaving it there past time while I work on someone else. Now the skin surrounding my hair line is a dark brown discoloration. And I'm getting married in a couple days. The only reason I'm giving them three stars is they were good the first visit and they're flexible with cancellations. I won't be coming back. read more

For balayage color & trim by Melissa. First time getting my hair colored and I wanted to make sure it was done perfectly - Melissa definitely delivered! I have thick, medium length, natural black hair and wanted a color that was not too subtle but not too crazy. Melissa put a lot of effort in to mix a color that would fit what I wanted, rather than just giving me something standard and hoping I would like it. The outcome was everything I wanted - full, beautiful light caramel highlights that were consistent throughout. Price was absolutely reasonsble, and she even added some type of toner to make the color pop more. Melissa is passionate, has a lot of experience in balayage/color, and very sweet. They fraudulently charged me $300 on my credit card. IN RESPONSE TO SALON RESPONSE: I did not book any appointment as I was not even in the state that week. I did NOT get any notice an appointment was confirmed by phone call or email or otherwise. I do not know if this is your system when I signed up for an account online (since that is when I signed up for my account). Furthermore you also explicitly state: NO CHARGES WILL BE MADE WITHOUT YOUR NOTICE. I, again, was not notified any charges were made. There is a reason my credit card company recognized immediately that these were fradulent charges and declined both transactions. I'm also really glad you stated your cancellation policies. 50% of a service for even a missed confirmed appointment is obscene. I have definitely never been told this as I have never spoken to anyone about an appointment and this is NOT stated on your website! What the salon's website ACTUALLY says about cancellations: Cancellations: We appreciate your advanced notice in the event of a cancellation. We will do the best to accommodate you if you're late. However, it is left to the discretion of your Stylist if your appointment needs to be rescheduled. ORIGINAL REVIEW: You have to create an account if you want to even browse the available appointments online to see if there is an availability that matches yours. To create an account, you have to put a credit card on file. So to even look for open appointments, you have to give a credit card number. If you save your credit card information onto an online account they will charge it indiscriminately and without notice for LARGE amounts of money (despite their website saying that they will NEVER charge without telling you, when you first sign up). I had simply wanted to look at appointments if in the future I could find an opening. They charged my card $150 TWICE for no reason. I have never been to this salon (nor now will I go in the future). My bank immediately recognized it as fraudulent and contacted me. I don't know why they did this but it is both incredibly unprofessional and quite illegal, so I would think twice before using their online system. read more

How has no one written a review about this place yet? I used to see Scott at TC Salon, but when they closed their doors I was thrilled to learn this is where Scott (and a few other key people from the salon) ended up. The facilities are really nice. Very simple, tasteful decor, and they use quality products. You don't feel like you're being rushed through and everyone is super friendly. I hear there are some renovations happening in the near future...I'll be interested to see them as they happen. Great place, great prices (more reasonable than TC), great staff (especially the evening/weekend receptionist). One thing - tips are cash only. Not a problem, of course, but if you're like me and don't carry cash, please make sure you have enough on hand to tip your stylist! read more

I was extremely disappointed when TC Salon closed 7 months back and I could not get info to track my dearest hair stylist. Tried couple of places but felt something was missing. I came to "the salon" with my dull yellow hair seeking a new beautiful ash-toned color.. Thank god I came here.. Taj was the best hair stylist I've ever had! He knows what he does. First, I brought a pic with me and he spent enough time to explain how can we reach the color without damaging the hair.. I was so convinced that I told him to do what he thought was the best. Thank god I listened to him. He gave me the best results I've ever dreamed of. Also, the whole staff are friendly and kind.. They smile all the time and they made me feel very comfortable. The best haircut I have ever had. Mandy took her time and talked to me before cutting away. Such a delight. I could not have been happier.

I had been dying my hair blonde and I was really looking to go darker, since my natural hair color is a medium brown. I looked up salon reviews and this salon got good ratings. I decided to go in for a consultation. Diane, who I read was a wonderful colorist, met with me and discussed the best color options for my hair to get it back closer to my natural color. We came up with a plan and I was very excited, because finally I was going to be a brunette again. The consultation went well; however, I cannot even begin to figure out what happened two days later. I saw a swatch of the color we were going to and I was excited because it was very similar to my natural hair color. She put a filler in my hair and then continued to dye it. The whole process took hours and by the time she dried my hair, it was still a darker blonde and completely uneven. Some parts were darker than others and it looked like a mess. It cost me $180, and that didn't even include the tip. She then preceded to talk about me coming back to add highlights. Highlights for what? My hair was still blonde. I had told my family and friends at work that I was going back to brunette and the next day they were all surprised to see me still blonde, and not even a nice blonde color, a patchy, uneven, brassy blonde. My hair was so damaged after this experience, I had to do a couple coconut oil masks and deep conditioners to get my hair smooth and soft again. Diane also cut my hair. I wish I could say that I loved the cut; however, that was equally horrible. I asked for very little length off my hair and subtle layers. My layers are so choppy and she took inches off my hair. It was a horrible cut and color experience. Finally, I went elsewhere and my hair is back to my natural, brunette color. Diane is the only person that worked on my hair that day, so I cannot speak on the other individuals who work at this salon. Everyone was friendly and the facility was very simply designed, hence why I at least gave it two stars. read more

I wanted to brighten up my hair before my wedding, so I went with the salon with the highest reviews. My stylist gave me a brighter, blonder look with vayalage and trimmed about an 1/8 of an inch and added a few angled layers. I was happy with the way it turned out, but when I went to pay they charged an appalling $245. I knew it wouldn't be less than $125, but damn!And it's not as light as I wanted. I wish I could give separate ratings for hair and makeup... I had to average to 3 stars. Here's my breakdown: Make up: 5 stars - OMG I was gorgeous! I was treated like a princess and so well taken care of. I got to give input as to what I liked and despite having my makeup done at 1 I was flawless at 10:30 when I left the wedding. I honestly didn't want to wash my face. Hair: 2 stars - I was attending a wedding in town and wanted to make a good impression. I didn't want to look like a bridal party clinger-on so I didn't want an up-do. I scheduled a blow out. The stylist was friendly and chatted me up. Gave me some hair tips I will use in the future. I gave her free reign - which is my standard operating procedure at the salon...it's hard to displease me. I ended up with a head full of curls that I imagined would brush out in what would look like a well thought out casual style (what I'm used to with a blow out). It didn't. I was instructed to shake my hair out and spray it before I left for the ceremony. I went to my hotel hopeful that it would work out (I literally had curl dreadlocks). It didn't. I spent the night with curls that fell into cemented straight hanks of hair that looked like I'd been stuck in a storm. I got lots of compliments on every part of my wardrobe and look save the hair. Perhaps I should have asked more questions, but I didn't. I would return to the salon if I was in PA again. I would go with a plan though. I will also mention that I was less than pleased to be told "this would look better if your hair was dirtier, but you looked like you wanted it washed" - said to me AFTER washing. This would have been better mentioned before. My hair was 1 day out from a wash and I would have been fine styling it dirty. read more

A review I should have written back in May! Procrastination truly as its finest. It was my first time here for a haircut/style. I asked for an inch to two inches off, and the stylist (Glenn) was extremely cautious of making sure to cut that much. I asked for more layers, but in the end was barely noticeable and not quite even on both sides. The blow dry and style by the assistant turned out really nicely. She had put a texturizing powder in my hair to give it some more oomph. The overall experience (everyone was extremely nice and welcoming) was a 4 or 5, but if I had to purely judge on the haircut itself, I would give it a 3.
