I have never Yelp'd about anything before but I just had to spread the word about my favorite person to work with in regards to Interior Design - GOFF CHRISTIAN. I have moved often and lived in six different major cities (including some time in London) and so we have purchased a lot of furniture and worked with several designers. When I went into the store I wasn't sure what I wanted to buy, but I was quickly charmed by Goff and his friendly, flexible and no pressure attitude. I made an appointment for him to come to the house and once he arrived I actually HAD FUN with figuring out how to work with what we had and add pieces to adjust the room to our new house and family needs. As we worked together over the next year or two updating and customizing our new home to our personality I was so pleased to have someone to work with that was not all about driving his commission - but instead wanted to ensure I was happy and made smart purchasing decisions that I felt good about. At some of his visits he actually just helped me rearrange the existing furniture and add only a few smaller items to make the room 'pop'. He also was really patient about helping choose paint and helping me find just the right material or color for an item. As I am a person that doesn't know what I want until I see it - I can easily frustrate designers in my vague instructions - but Goff knew how to guide me through it without making me feel like I was an idiot - or worse, without guiding me to a purchase I would regret. I have had a great time working with him and am only sorry that I don't have any more rooms to redecorate. I recently purchased a cherry dining table from them. Less than 6 months later, the finish develops a white spot. I try for 6 weeks to get a copy of the warranty, talk with customer service and keep getting the run around. Finally, emails, phone calls later, get Katheryn from customer service. Finally get a tech to the house (Sep. 17) he is ther less than 5 min. He photographs it and says, I will receive a call on Tuesday. I waited until Thursday and called them. I spoke with the manager who got ahold of Katheryn who said, so sorry, not covered. I requested a copy of the warranty, which I was told at least 6 times, it is in the mail. I am still waiting for the warranty. Bottom line, beware of the product. They do not stand behind it. read more

Avoid this Ethan Allen (an maybe all of them right now) like the plague! We live in So. Cal and have been big Ethan Allen fans for over 20 years, and have virtually our entire home furnished with EA furniture (probably over $75K of purchases in that time frame). We have bought from many of the EA stores in our area (Cerritos, Torrance, Lakeforest, and Tustin, CA) over that time. I have to put the warning flag up about the Tustin EA Store: STAY AWAY. REPEAT: STAY AWAY! I have now had two very bad experiences with the Tustin EA, in 2005 and this year (2009). In short, they cannot get popular pieces of furniture delivered anywhere near the time frame estimated, and are completely unapologetic about it or helpful whatsoever. On July 4th of this year (2009), we ordered a complete "Tango" bedroom set (iron bed, dresser, table, bookshelf, mattress and box spring). Before making the purchase, I wanted to double check the delivery period (always an issue with EA). We were assured that this was a maximum 8 week item (6-8 weeks we were told), the usual EA estimate we get. After only three weeks, we were called and told that they could deliver the mattress/box spring. Our experience has always been to instead wait for the complete set, which puts some pressure on them to get everything together. We did so, and were called only a few weeks later and told that everything could now be delivered. We were a bit shocked, based on our experience with EA, that they could get all pieces together and delivered in 5 weeks, so we scheduled delivery. However, when the delivery crew came, one of the pieces was not delivered--the collector's classic bookshelf. We were told by the delivery person it would be in in 1-2 weeks, so we elected (with some reservation) to accept the rest of the pieces. What a mistake. After a day or two, I called our sales person, "Zoray" (who my wife and I wish now could be deported back to Iran), and was told that no, this piece will not arrive until 21 October 2009. So this weekend, October 17, I called to check on the status, assuming I could schedule delivery. Our wonderful (ha ha) Zoray was in, but was with a customer, so I left a message to please call us. No reply. So a few days later on the 19th, I called and left a message for the store manager (also unwilling to take our call) expressing my need to have a status update on delivery. After no return, I called back and asked another sales associates, to check our order, and was told that the delivery could not now be made until after November 30, 2009. Wow. I was very irate with this and called the store manager back several times to discuss the issue, and although promised she would call back, I received no call. Tonight, 10/21, I decided to drive to the store after work to find out what the problem is. When I arrived at 6:30 (store is open weeknights until 9), I was rather surprised to see a totally empty parking lot, not a single other person in the store, and only 2 sales associates. I asked for the manager, and after waiting at least 15 minutes, she finally came to the front desk to discuss the delay. I was then told that Nov. 30th was the wrong date, that it would not be in until December 4th at the earliest, exactly 5 mos (20+ weeks) after we ordered and paid. I told her that this was unacceptable, that this was well beyond the 6-8 week estimate, and stated that if they could not get this final piece to me within a week, then I considered the whole sale void (I ordered a complete furniture set, not part of a set) and that I would like them to pick up what they had delivered and return our money. Of course they stated this could not be done and all sales are final, and that the sales form specifically states that they cannot guarantee a delivery date. Huh? I first pointed out that the wonderful Zoray had written across the sales form the delivery date of 6-8 weeks, and her signature was on the form, so this could be considered a contractual obligation to deliver by that date. They were quite snotty about it and would make any move to try to find out what was going on with the delay, and that there was nothing they could/would do. This is extremely different from my past experiences with other stores, where the salesperson was most apologetic and would really try to trace down where the snag was in the supply chain and keep us informed of the issue. Generally, when a delay happens, they will also offer a 20% or more discount on the furniture piece to keep your business. Of course I would rather have what I bought on time at the price I paid. It may be that the entire EA chain is in trouble, however it may just be this store. In any event these people are snots. The only saving grace in this is that based on recession customer traffic, they will probably be out of business soon. I am just hoping to get the piece at all now. Do not shop here for EA furniture. read more

My husband and I have had Ethan Allen furniture since we purchased our bedroom set as newlyweds. The quality and construction of the furniture is exceptional. Through the years we have continued to shop at Ethan Allen. A few years ago I wandered into the Tustin store and was greeted by a sales designer, Theresa Gomez. Right from the start I felt a connection with Theresa. We scheduled a time for her to come to our home. Theresa saw our style of living , our colors and we told her our wish list of rooms to change. Theresa transformed our living spaces. She captured the feel of our lifestyle for our family room and updated our living room into a beautiful space to entertain family and friends in elegant style. She recently helped redo our dining room. I told her we might be moving so I needed something that would work for a 40 year old home or a smaller home near the beach. The furniture she picked for us dramatically changed the look of our dining room. The room is now fresh and so inviting. Theresa is a pleasure to work with. She is professional but personable. She listened to what we needed and she came up with a beautiful plan. She understood our tastes and our budget. We love what she has done with our home. read more
