It really gave me RVA (Richmond, VA circa early 2000s) nostalgia vibes like for places I worked in around Broadway during college! Wow. Love everything about this place. I'd been going to a lot of coffee shops lately where the style is all like new stuff and new style (which I LOVE) but the style of Tessa Delicatessen was so unexpectedly refreshing. I didn't realize that this part of Colfax was Park Hill! I saw a lot of other interesting places nearby. Can't wait to go back and wander! Not sure if it was the owner that greeted me at the register but she was very friendly and warm. I love the self serve coffee and water and you get to pick a unique mug to drink from. Really strong neighborhood vibe and I think she said it had been open since 2017. So cool! I'm obsessed with the spaciousness and space! My breakfast sandwich did explode all over my hand - so be careful! The egg is soft inside! I got coffee, cheesy hash and the breakfast sandwich. $25 for everything including tip. I think that's a great deal for a lovely morning vibe and breakfast in 2026!

I ordered a pesto mozzarella focaccia sandwich and added chicken, coconut ube latte and the tahini brownie. Initially I thought it was expensive but then I saw the portions! Lasted me two whole meals and was stuffed both times. Everything was DELISH and so fresh and the bread is made in house!! The coconut latte was also a surprise because usually restaurant coffees are meh, but it was VERY good. IF YOU ARE GOING TO TAKE ONE THING FROM THIS REVIEW LET IT BE THIS: GET THE TAHINI BROWNIE. I've never had anything like it- crunchy, soft, moist, DELICIOUS. And so worth every penny. Will absolutely be back this place is so cute and great for a casual breakfast or lunch

The service at the register was great; they were so helpful. I ordered the lamb kabobs. It came with 2 skewers, hummus, tzatziki, grilled lemon, a flat bread, pickles, a tomato and cucumber salad, and cabbage. It was plenty of food and it was so delicious. I would highly recommend getting this entree. For dessert, I got the snickerdoodle which had a nice taste but it's not the texture I like for that type of cookie. It was quite a thick cookie. As we were leaving, I got a baguette to go. I enjoyed eating it for a couple of days but there's something about it that's a little different though I can't quite put my finger on it.

This place turns fast food on its head by consistently delivering healthy, tasty, and creative meals. The birds get the rotisserie treatment over a special charcoal grill. They pop out moist, tender, and very flavorful. You can order a whole bird, half, a quarter or wings (plus a limited time tenders special as of July 2026)--alone or as a meal with sides, a salad, and sauces. The sauce options of gravy, chimichurri, piri piri, macha, and barbecue are unexpected. We tried gravy and chimichurri. Both were fresh and delicious. The extensive choice of sides includes mash or wedge potatoes, falafel, slaw, mac & cheese, mixed veg, marinated cucumbers, and street corn (rotating special). I was disappointed that the stuffing and squash dishes were not on the current menu. The cucumbers were delicious as was the creamy mac & cheese. The street corn was a nice surprise. The lemon tahina sauce on the mixed vegetables was good, but they were way undercooked for my taste. Other options are Pacific rolls, a variety of salads, sandwiches, and wraps, chicken noodle soup, cookies, and brownies. This is real quality, freshly-prepared, delicious, creative food. It's not cheap, but you definitely get what you pay for here. Chook is one of my favorites.
