This is a great Ethiopian owned coffee shop. I enjoy the chai lattes. I tend to get either the 12 ounce or 16 ounce because there's no way I can finish a 24 ounce of any drink in one sitting before it gets cold. There is a plenty of seating. A lot of people come here to meet with friends work by themselves and work or study in small groups. There is a little area towards the back of the main room that has a traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony laid out, which I find interesting and cool to look at. There is another seating area in the back that can be reserved if you want more privacy. The coffee house also has coffee that you can purchase. There are a lot of different baked goods for purchase and quick meals that are made to order. I like it here. It's a nice calm setting with good lighting. It's clean. Lucy's Coffee House is a true community gathering place. It is beautifully decorated with the most comfortable seating we have experienced in any coffee shop in Metro Denver. There are large tables for groups to come together socially or for business. They offer free Wi-Fi. The seating in the back is very private. They played relaxing and calming music that was a pleasure to listen to while drinking delicious coffee and sitting in comfort. Hannah was our barista, and she was lovely! She is a kind and friendly person who took the time to explain how to make reservations for the Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony that can be scheduled on Saturdays or Sundays. The Yirgacheffe coffee was incredible, so smooth! It is from Ethiopia--the birthplace of coffee. The food menu is vegetarian (no meat served) The noise level was perfect, indoor seating is plentiful (no outdoor seating), and parking is plentiful in the lot in front. In the restroom, the toilet was a bidet. I wish the menu were in a larger font to make it easier to read. Not only was their farm to cup Ethiopian coffee absolutely amazing, and their food delicious (I had the Chechebsa which is essentially torn injera bread tossed in Ethiopian butter and berbere spices served with plain yogurt and honey to drizzle over it... best breakfast ever!) but the owner is so incredibly nice. I had this Lucy coffee house on my bucket list and finally have been able to check it out. First walking in the open space is super inviting with plenty of seating. The space has woven in much of the Ethiopian heritage throughout the coffee house through the decor. Now the service was friendly and the owner of the shop Mickey is very kind and you can tell he is passionate about his shop and taking care of the customers. I got to try the teff chechebesas which was delicious! So much food with a side of yogurt and honey which was the perfect pairing! The sprice smoothie was so delicious and fresh! Cute from the outside. I ordered an extra hot latte. I went to them bathroom (about 2 minutes) and when I picked up my latte it wasn't even close to warm. I explained. She said it's because it was waiting for a couple of minutes. Server took latte and resteamed the milk for 5 seconds. 15 seconds later said it's hot now. Then said in a sarcastic tone, have a blessed day. I understand the server thought she was right and I was difficult. The latte was never hot. It was still not hot after her half hearted attempt to fix it. Latte was cold and sour. I have no idea what went wrong. $6ish down the drain. Rarely do I wish I'd just gone to Starbucks. My friend and I gave this place a try as we wanted to check out a new coffee spot that doesn't close at 2pm. We didn't think too much of it but the inside was pretty chill! The employees were super inviting. The seats were comfy too! Drinks: - Ethiopian Macchiato: this was good! You can taste the coffee depth and it wasn't too strong. I got it with oat milk because I'm lactose intolerant but the barista accidentally made it with regular milk. She stopped me before I drank it and made me a new one. She let us keep the first drink and my friend enjoyed it. I really appreciated her honesty. - Egg Sandwich: It wasn't too bad. The egg wasn't overly or underseasoned, lots of bell peppers and the bread had a soft texture. It was quite oily though. Overall I can see myself hangout here to study or work more often. I don't like leaving negative reviews but we had a very poor experience at this coffee shop and I recommend others to not go. I ordered the scrambled egg and Americano. We waited nearly 20 minutes for our food and drinks. The egg scramble wasn't awful, but wasn't good, and there was more broccoli than there was egg. It was served with a hot dog bun.... Pretty pathetic. I was then delivered my iced americano with oat milk that had no ice and was told they didn't have oat milk (after paying for it and all). As a matter of fact, after eating the first one, the owner said he would make me a 2nd one for free, because I couldn't stop talking about the sandwich. GET THE SANDWICH!! After that, I had one of their juices. My juice was made with mango, avocado and strawberries! People, this is the juice to get! I left so full and satisfied. I can't wait to go back for that chicken sandwich!! The esthetic is very soothing. We spent 3 hours in there, just drinking coffee, snacking and talking. I had such a relaxing Sunday afternoon coffee break/lunch at Lucy. The atmosphere was so calm and friendly, I could have stayed for hours. I got the cappuccino, plus chicken panini and a slice of cake. I ate the panini and cake too quickly to get a photo but they were so delicious! I had the veg samosa, birds I milk cake and chechebsa Neff. The cake is like a honey cake with a little cream and a chocolate ganache top layer, really yummy. The chechebsa is a flat bread with Ethiopian spices that they serve with honey and yougurt. It's kinds of like a savory pancake served in cut up pieces. I liked it but not sure it's for the masses. Coffee is roasted by the establishment--Ethiopia Yirgacheffe whole beans $18 for 12ounces. It seems they serve and roast only this house coffee which is a medium roast. Full bodied, bold, described as apricot and black tea and I agree. I usually appreciate Ethiopian and most coffee lighter roasted yet I think they did a fine job. A 12 ounce drip was about $3.75. I bought the beans after enjoying the drip with cream. Friendly atmosphere for sure, lovely. Family oriented and thoughtfully decorated with comfy seating. Location? You would need to know it's here in a strip mall, or at least I had to seek it out as a local roaster. Food? IDK. I'm extra when it comes to pastries and food in general. There are muffins and bready items in the case apparently purchased elsewhere. I am embarrassingly interested in what goes in my food. I do plan to return. Ps. What would make it 5 star?
