Delicious! Love the fried avocados on the tacos and the drinks are awesome. Highly recommend.

Horrrible service, was treated rudely by staff both times I ate here. I'll never go back. Not to mention they messed up all our orders anyway. read more

Delicious tacos, great sauces, and unique drinks. Love the combo of fun and casual plus hip. Brought our two little, wild kids and we all had a tasty lunch. They were very patient with my two year old exploring and playing with ice read more

We went to Estrella for a second time tonight and it was amazing!! First time was for breakfast tacos which were excellent. We have loved out servers both times. Super knowledgable and kind ladies. Tonight we got a pitcher of fresh delicious margaritas for a beyond reasonable price and both times the tacos flavors and textures were perfect. I definitely recommend the fried avocado taco! read more

The brisket is AMAZING!! Worth checking out and having a breakfast taco any time of day! The coffee is out of sight! Hot spot to try for sure!! read more

What a great addition to an up and coming town. The food, drinks, and decor are awesome. I've been here several times, with and without the kids, and always leave full with a smile. Top notch tap list, tasty cocktails, and really friendly bartenders. Great staff who works hard to make sure everyone is taken care of. Awesome outdoor area with corn hole and a place for the kids to play. The breakfast tacos are out of this world, and the All Day Tacos are too. Stopped in around 730am the other day to grab a BEC taco and a cup of coffee. Best 'breakfast on the go' I've gotten in town, and easier parking than WaWa. I'll definitely be back again and again. read more

I've been to Estrella three times and each time it gets better! Their food is consistently good and their drinks are great! I recommend the mojito and Lady Bird, as both are fantastic. Their tortillas are warm and fresh and compliment the tacos really well. They have one off appetizers that are really tasty that you can tell the chef likes to experiment and is great at his/her craft. The abbreviated menu is what I think makes this place great because each item is unique and you don't need a bunch of options in order to be satisfied. read more

Very happy that Estrella opened in Dtown! We really enjoyed the food and beer selection. We had the loaded beer queso and chips as an appetizer - tasted great and was a good portion for the 4 of us. We also each had 2 tacos - and each was very tasty. We had the brisket, chicken thigh, carnitas, and fried chicken tacos. All perfectly cooked and seasoned with proper garnishes. If you're looking for some great tacos try them out! We will be back! read more

This restaurant has come a long way since it first opened! The portions are a lot larger now and the service is quicker. The carnitas are delicious and the margaritas rock! It's a family friendly restaurant but also a great place to go with friends! The outside seating area is a bonus because there aren't a lot of places in Downingtown with that! The homemade salsas at the table are all very good! read more

Upscale taco joint in downingtown with plenty outdoor seating and a ton of local beers on tap. The tacos are fancy. I had the spicy southern fried chicken which were indeed spicy and flavor some. After that, I had the PA craft beer and bean tacos which tasted pretty bland, but good nonetheless. The menu is on the smaller side but well balanced. I would have also ordered their caramelized garlic guacamole if I hadn't eaten already chips and guac on my way home from the Phillies game this evening. read more

We recently tried this place out for the first time, and we were not disappointed! Awesome service, amazing food, and atmosphere was great! The only complaint I have was the noise level... we had a large party so it was sometimes hard to hear the other people at the table. Other than that, no complaints whatsoever and would totally recommend!! read more

I've been coming to this joint since they opened. The food can be quite tasty "most" of the time. Other times it's very greasy. This inconsistency makes me drive right by when I'd be otherwise happy to pull in if I were sure of the products quality. Twice my wife and I have gotten terrible belly bombs in the past that keeps us from coming in too. (We believe the jalapeños were never washed before being sliced and laid on top of the tacos) because it was def the kind of gut disturbance that you know is from dirty veggies if you've ever had it happen before) a month has gone by and I'm here for brunch. The bartender is so overwhelmed and I'm sitting right in front of her waiting to place an order. Guys tighten these simple things and I'll spend more money here. Hire two bartenders on known busy days and make certain the kitchen staff is following all health and food service rules. Incidents happen. Mistakes happen. I want to be a confident customer, not feel like I'm rolling the dice when I sit down. read more

Service was really slow for not being to busy, brisket was really dry and flavorless. The honey butter that came with my sons French toast sticks was good. Unfortunately, we were very underwhelmed. read more

Nice outdoor atmosphere, and good food. Haven't had a drink that I didn't like. My husband loves the Frito pie. We have been several times, service has been good. read more

Sat for 15 minutes before having to flag a waitress down for service. Ordered everything - food did come out quickly per our request, but no silverware. Asked for twice. Also asked for salt and pepper - took longer then it should. Food was very greasy- even for fried food. Charged us double for an item - had to get check fixed. Manager did come and apologized and did take the item off the check. Overall poor service and food wasn't that good either. Staff was friendly- just didn't know what they're doing. Won't be returning. read more

I really really wanted to like this place. Taco joints are the trendy new thing and Estrella was a much needed addition in Downingtown. Unfortunately the service and our dining experience was so bad I can't justify ever going back. After reading other reviews it seems that I am not the only one that had poor service on the patio. So first note is to sit inside to enjoy the great décor and hopefully better service. It is really too bad they can't get it together outside because the patio is awesome-dog friendly and they have corn hole boards. It took about 20 minutes to get waters delivered to our table after asking another waitress to find our waitress. We then put in drink orders and were curious why the pitcher of Sangria was so expensive at $38. How many glasses could that be which our waitress did not know and said you had to buy a bottle which was the reasoning for the price. I never heard that before when ordering Sangria so instead we each got a glass which was cheaper than a pitcher. The Sangria was tasty, strong and not too sweet. We also got an order of chips and salsa as well as guacamole. The salsa was just ok but two thumbs up for the guacamole. Once again our waitress was no where to be seen and after 20 minutes a manager came over and apologized for the poor service and took our order. The food came out pretty quickly and the tacos were very good. I went with the veggie bean and pulled chicken tacos which were a solid portion with fresh toppings. The salsa jars at our table were pretty gross and looked like they may not have been refreshed for a while. The salsa was watery and almost seemed rotten. It was finally time for the checks and of course the waitress messed those up so it took another 20 minutes to get this all straightened out. We were so happy to get out of there and then I get text messages from two of my friends that the food made them sick. Maybe it was a bad night for Estrella with college/high school students going back to school and they need better help but I am not willing to chance it again. read more

6 Dec 2019 update*** Beef brisket and hot sausage on a bun with french fries. The Presentation showed way to many fires. We both ate them and still left some behind. The bun was huge. It did not present well, so we ate the protein open faced. The protein had been marinaded nicely and was flavorful. The sausage was likewise delicious. The coleslaw on top of the protein was very well balance and tasty. But overall the meal was short on protein and long on bread and fries. Service The barmaid was polite, prompt and spoke with with good diction and cadence. In all a below average meal experience. read more

Unfortunately, for the past (and only) two visits to this joint, I have been disappointed. I say unfortunately and disappointed because I have been told numerous times before that they sell good social food here, and the atmosphere is relatively hip for the area. I have ordered a variety of tacos, mainly, which have been bland, out of cultural touch, and sloppily prepared. Typically, I can deal with the blandness or oddity so long as the food is either healthy, good, unique, or any combination of the three; of which, this food is none. With that being said, it is a cute physical place, worked by a younger crew (service can be sporadic/unorganized), and stationed in what is or will be a prime location in town. I would recommend Station Taproom, as a much more satisfying alternative in the immediate area. read more

I've been here a few more times since my original review, and this place has consistently gone downhill. The service has always been slow and had bad timing, but it has recently gotten worse and all of the staff are kids. I used to really like one of their sauces and the seitan taco, and both were removed from the menu. The seitan taco was replaced with a really skimpy "vegan" taco which is literally a few veggies. I also got the black bean taco again(liked it previously) it was the same other than that the "avocado" it had were two very little slices, not like the two previous times when I ordered it and it had a good amount of avocado(5/6ish pieces). It is always very loud in here and the food is very overpriced for the way the quality is now. It always feels like they're rushing the bill on you and trying to kick you out. I am very disappointed because I really liked this place originally. read more

got the cauliflower tacos and LOVED them- the cauliflower was seasoned beautifully and the tortillas were amazing. i've been thinking about them ever since! you order tacos individually which gives the option for mixing/matching and getting the right amount for you. amazing! read more

Wow wow wow! Incredible, clean, what a menu with execution to boot. Personable staff. C'mon in y'all!

We have visited here on 3 occasions and I really want to like it more than I do. My family agrees. I love that they have outside seating and the inside is cute. But he service is just consistently bad. Each time we've been there we've had to wait close to 15 minutes for just water. Our most recent visit was for a weekday lunch and we waited and waited and waited to just be acknowledged. We finally got water and ordered the rest of our drinks and food. Chips and Salsa and Chips and Queso to start and then a salad and a few tacos. Then we waited and waited again. By this time 45 minutes had passed. Then our food comes. ALL OF IT. At once. I said, we expected to receive the chips before our meal. Why would we order that with our meal? Makes no sense. An apology but no offer to remove one from the bill. The queso is too thick and floury tasting and the salsa is not very flavorful at all. The tacos are ok but nothing special unfortunately. Since we had our main courses we barely ate any of the chips or dips. It's actually quite expensive to boot. I don't mind paying for good food and service, but unfortunately, this isn't the case here. They did give us a coupon for a free breakfast taco, but I don't think we will be back read more

We finally went to Estrella for my birthday. We had really looked forward to going and having a non-chain restaurant in Downingtown. Sadly, things were chaotic, we were offered someone else's food multiple times, had to go get our own silverware and use napkins as our appetizer plates. The food was okay as were the drinks, but I will say my German friend who now lives in Ireland makes a far better mojito. Things need to change or we will see yet one more restaurant leave DTown. read more

Manager is terrible and food is okay. Management is not great. I'll stick to the brewery above.

Was there once for brunch, French toast was delicious. Very accommodating to allergies ;even when very busy!

Nice interior, good beer selection, fun atmosphere. Fried onion and jalapeño appetizer good, but very greasy. Tacos also good, but slightly overwhelmed with too many "trick" toppings. Pickled this...marinated that...overpowered the meat and tortilla a little. Overall, good food, innovative menu; looking forward to coming back. read more

The service was terrible and the food took so long to arrive. It wasn't even a very busy day. Will not be returning!

EXCELLENT food and atmosphere! We sat on the patio as the place is dog friendly (a huge plus) and it was great. Taco's were amazing and hit the mark. There needs to be more spots like this around Downingtown. read more

The food was all disappointingly cold. Despite the temperature, everything tasted pretty good, but it makes me think the food is made in advance and they aren't reheating it (enough or properly). I also think a taco joint serving beers might have a few mexican favorites - but they don't. Too expensive, not worth it. read more

When Estrella first opened it was exciting, dynamic, different. More importantly, the food was great! Now - the prices have skyrocketed. $6 for a taco filled with coleslaw or overcooked meat? Are you kidding me? The menu has changed and so has the quality of the food. Today is my last lunchtime meal (I work down the street) at Estrella. None of what made the $2.50 sized tacos worth the $4 used to pay for them is true of Estrella any longer, I'm sad to say. The other menu items I've tried have been disappointingly bland in flavor. It's a great venue - the interior is hip and the outside eating area is enticing. Even the indoor/outdoor space is inviting. The decor and atmosphere are welcoming, and the staff is friendly. But at the end of the day, I go to a restaurant to eat food that is better than what my inexperienced hands make in my own kitchen. Estrella, in my opinon, has fallen. Hopefully they will make some changes and once again shine. read more

I love Estrella! Who knew this beautiful magnificent place existed!?! I moved to this area from a metropolitan area far away and have been so disappointed at the food at restaurants around here (Exton area.) This place is ALWAYS good. I love the brisket, the spicy chicken taco, the beer list is pretty great, although when they are out of your first three choices, it a little disappointing. The decor is so cool and actually really beautiful and perfect for inspo, even the bathrooms! The blue room is sweet. Outside on nice days, there is chalk and stuff for the kids. It's very quickly become my favorite place, really great prices for amazing food. read more

This was our first time here and we will definitely be back! We had the guacamole and the elotes, both of which were flavorful and satisfying. We also got the fried avocado and the fried chicken tacos. They were both really good. The atmosphere/decor is really neat and our server Kelsey was attentive and made us feel welcomed. She offered some great menu suggestions. The only suggestion we'd make is to season the tortilla chips a bit more, but that may be personal preference. We will definitely be returning! read more

We went because the Taco Oriented Menu looked interesting. The restaurant fell short of expectations. This is a new restaurant with a high ceiling that amplifies noise quite effectively producing a noisy environment. This inconvenience is made worse by very sparse bench seating which gets uncomfortable. The dishes are served on metal trays adding to the Army Canteen ambiance. We ordered the Steak Nachos, a Breakfast Brisket and egg Taco and a Brisket Sandwich on a Brioche bun. With a beer and a Diet Coke the tab was $46.50! Not a good value. Our server was very pleasant and helpful but the food was OK, just OK. The Steak Nachos would have been a better value with more steak which tasted good. The Brisket Sandwich was on the dry side The Egg and Brisket Taco was OK, Nothing inspired. Maybe Loud Pub style places appeal to you. If so, go. read more

So-so. Kind of confused by the menu and not a fan of most options. I had the chicken biscuit sandwich. That biscuit sat in me for the entire night, it was so heavy. I got the tea infused vodka drink (don't remember the name). For $9 I'd like to taste the alcohol. Tasted like an expensive virgin Arnold Palmer. Don't think I'll be back. Overall, I was disappointed. read more

They only give you one taco per order. Beer list does not specify pour sizes for their craft beers. Nice interior but nothing to shake a stick at. Probably wouldn't go back. Chips weren't special and their salsas were in huge food service bottles that took up the table carried in cardboard carrier that was wet and taped up with duct tape (ew). read more

I am surprised that a place with picnic tables and benches to sit on charges such high prices for the rather small quantities of food they serve. And unless you negotiate with your waiter, the food here is way overspiced; which I feel is to get you to buy more beer to wash the burn away! Unfortunately, I find the food at the McDonald's across the street to be better than what you are able to order here. read more

Kudos to Estrella for coming to our rescue at the last minute when our holiday party venue double booked us. CW pulled together a delicious menu and had the patio heaters and fires roaring when we arrived. We were able to mingle inside our private room or head out by the fire where blankets were awaiting us. What a SUPER time! Also a huge shout out to our delightful and hard working servers Morgan and Steph. Thank you for everything! read more

Great Food and really awesome drinks. Needs a new manager and quite a few more servers. Very lacking in service, experience, although very friendly. Why don't people want to work here?
