Tom and his crew gave me a reasonable estimate and PROPERLY trimmed/thinned my 40 year old Fuerte Avocado. I'd called 4-6 people but they weren't all arborists and I didnt get a confidant feeling they'd cut it properly. Toms crew did a fantastic job in March 2023. I was a bit nervous at how much they cut, but 4 months later ( July 2023) my Avocado tree looks fabulous. So much good new growth. I couldn't be happier with their knowledge and skill. They arrived by 8, and had cut four trees, ground six stumps, and cleaned up two other trees, plus all cleanup, and they were done by 11. This company came out and trimmed 4 badly overgrown pepper trees and 2 eucalyptus trees. The job was done when promised and the guys were friendly and cleaned up. A few weeks after the trees were trimmed Tom himself came out to take care of a limb that had drooped and cut it off and hauled it away. Very pleased with the service read more

ETS did my neighbors trees and needed to use part of my yard as access to the trees. Before the work started I talked to the workers doing the service and they agreed to be careful & watch my plants and clean up afterwards. All was good at that point. Then a short time later - when I went out to see how the work was progressing - I notices one of the men standing on my plants. Because they had the wood chipper going neither of us could hear the other - so I tried using hand signals to point out that he was standing on one of the plants. Now at this point he could've just stepped off - waved and smiled and everything would've been fine. But instead proceeded to yell at me - insisting that he wasn't standing on my plants. Admittedly angered - he & I got into a HUGE shouting match. Profanity was thrown (yes - by both sides) but the fact is I was in reactionary mode. He was the first to use "off color" language. Now when all this started I had no idea that the person I was arguing over such a trivial thing was (according to the employees) - "the owner" of the Estates Tree Service. Granted he wasn't there when I first talked to his employees earlier that morning - but it seems logical that someone who is supposedly a professional would know without the being told to be careful on a customer's neighbor's yard and to act so childish & rude. Moreover I feel if the owner can talk like that to a neighbor of a customer (a potential customer himself) then what kind of person is this? I truly feel sorry for his employees. BTW his employees did as they promised and cleaned up afterwords with minimal impact on my yard. They are the only reason why I gave them 2 stars. But I would never use this service and I would advise anyone who sees them working on your adjoining neighbor's property to watch out for the owner. Because he is totally unprofessional and has an extremely short temper. read more

Showed up on time, did a thorough job and a fantastic clean-up job (including my neighbor's yards where a lot of the tree branches fell as they were cutting the trees down). The entire job was done in about 8 hours. The entire crew were courteous and friendly, and you could tell they enjoyed working for Tom. I was so bummed, I've had this crew out here before - his crew was great - like magicians. Tree was there and an hour later I couldn't tell it had even been there at all. Very reasonably priced, as well. I had scheduled an appointment for an estimate, he cancelled with plenty of time. No problem, things happen and we rescheduled. This time, got an early morning appt that he suggested and woke everyone up at five, an hour earlier than I get them up to get them out the door. Grumble. Grumble. No one showed, so I called. He was completely unaware of appt. great company if you have the patience, I highly recommend calling two hours prior to make sure he's coming. Third time's a charm? Had roofers on their way in a few days, forgot I needed to remove branches blocking parts of the roof. Called my normal guy but he was super buried. I call Estates and he said he would take a look the next day, got here and said I'll do it right now. TiP: If Tom asks you for a deposit, only pay for portion of work completed (example pay 50% when they are 50% complete). He may ask for more. Don't do it. When Tom walked off without finishing our job, only bargaining chip was the remaining deposit. Our experience with Estates Tree Service was so bad, it nearly ended in small claims court: 1. Waited 2 months for appointment. Appointment came. His team didnt finish, told us it'd be ANOTHER MONTH for them to come back. 2. Day of 2nd appointment, NO SHOW. We call him and he rescheduled. 3. Day of rescheduled appointment, he calls and CANCELLED again. SAID HE HAD A BIGGER JOB. 4.****Day of 2nd rescheduled appointment, job still not finished, and HE WALKS OFF JOB and TELLS ME TO HIRE SOMEONE ELSE. Meanwhile, he left a giant 50 ft tree laying in middle of our yard. This would cost thousands to clean up what they just left there!!!***** 5. A few weeks later, he calls out of the blue. Says he feels bad. Agrees to show up ONE MONTH later to finish the job. 6. Did great job that final day. Wish i could give 5 stars, but too much drama and lack of professionalism occured to rectify. P.S. Dear Tom, i really appreciate you finishing the job, so much so, i was going to let this go and not share this experience. However, my gardener just told me today THEY FOUND THE FRESH EUCALYPTUS YOU AND YOUR TEAM HID IN OUR YARD. Booooo. It is now time to share this story with no happy ending. read more

Made an appt for 4:30-5pm and was not sure I could make it so had my wife take off work to be home. At 4:27pm received a voicemail from Tom that he could not make it because he had company coming and he had to be there.
