This place gets it; people want a relaxing, quiet experience. The technicians are ALWAYS ready for you at your scheduled appointment time and they will spend the entirety of your visit focused on YOU, not chit-chatting with one another or running from customer to customer as they try to manage what is simply overbooking. Essential Nail Bar is NEVER chaotic like nearly every other salon. It costs a bit more than your typical joint, but it's worth every penny if what you're looking for is good service, good work, and a truly relaxing experience. I don't buy the negative reviews on here...yes, you need to make an appointment and show up on time. If that's too difficult for you, go elsewhere. ‍ read more

I came here for the first time right after they opened up again after covid. I was really impressed by their attention to following guidelines, making sure you had a mask and having you sanitize immediately. The had shields up as and everything was sanitized thoroughly. The experience itself was amazing. My nail tech was very friendly and the tropical pedicure was super relaxing. I got a dip nail mani for the first time and she did an awesome job, very thorough and detail oriented. She made sure I liked the shape, color and that I was comfortable. The mani turned out perfect and has definitely been resistant to chipping. I found a new favorite nail bar! read more

Super impressed with this new nail place in town! My most recent visit was my fourth time here and I love it more each time. I have been asking for Nancy when I call to book my appointment (she does dip powder amazingly and they use new containers for each client.. SO sanitary and SO clean!!) She makes my nails flawless everytime and my dip powder lasts me about 3 weeks! They also have about a million different colors to choose from. I'm also welcomed each time I walk in by the owner.. I believe his name is Michael and he always offers complimentary mimosas/water/tea. It's such a different experience from your ordinary salon. Next on my list is to try their Champagne pedicure! Thanks Essential.. I'll forever be a life long client and welcome to Birmingham! read more

ESSENTIAL NAIL BAR - Nail Salons Near Me - Birmingham, Michigan

I have to be fair and honest, for me this salon just isn't it. Good ambiance. Poor level of attention to detail of manicure service. I really wanted to love it. I tried twice and saw two different nail techs, but the results were the same. I perceive a lack of attention to detail and a lack of care in my manicure experiences here. (You cannot just buff the whole surface of the nails off to take shortcuts or to remove remaining cuticles. It weakens the nails if you sand them down; I asked her to please stop doing that.) If you want good reviews, you have to offer a good service. It's that simple. It takes more than a friendly front reception, beverage offerings, a good location, and modern decor. If there isn't attention to detail in the services and you don't really care, it is going to show in the results. I left just feeling sad. My nails when I left felt crusty and were rough in parts. See photos. When I got home, I removed the polish, re-filed my nails, and re-polished my nails myself. read more

Great customer service! I had an appointment set for 1pm and they called beforehand to inform me that due to construction on Maple street their water was down and I'd have to reschedule. The gentleman on the phone (who said he was the owner) was very apologetic and offered me a discount on my services. They were able to get me in on the same day only an hour a later than my original appointment. I was very happy with my pedicure by Dina. They also had a very clean environment and were being extremely cautious with masking, social distancing etc. I will be back! read more

I love that Essential Nails goes by appointment only. It never feels crowded or that you are rushed; no one is waiting. So far I have received two shellac manicures that have both lasted over 2 weeks. I have also had one pedicure that lasted longer. The staff is kind and welcoming. Cannot recommend their services enough! read more

Julie is an absolutely fabulous nail tech. I've been seeing her for my manicures and pedicures for the past five years. She moved over to Essential Nail Bar in February and I'm so glad she did. The salon is super clean with a ton of gel and dip polish choices. The salon owner, Michael, always greets me warmly at the entrance. They also offer mimosa and wine which only adds to the spa like experience. I highly recommend Julie and ENB. read more

I came here on a recommendation from a friend and I'm so glad that I did! Making an appointment online was seamless and easy. The front desk receptionist was such a pleasure to speak with and she gave great suggestions for nail polish colors. They offer complimentary beverages including water, tea, coffee and champagne! What a lovely treat. The gentleman that did my manicure took his time, very thorough and clean. Nails came out perfectly! They definitely abide by the CDC guidelines which made the experience that more comfortable. Found my new favorite nail bar in Birmingham. Highly recommend! read more

I couldn't get acrylic fills for a month after shoulder surgery. The nails that Nancy had put on were still on and in great shape when I finally went back. She does an incredible job and is also kind and personable! I wouldn't go anywhere else! read more

Searched on yelp FOREVER for a good spot to get mani pedis with my friend. Our nail techs (Choua and Nancy)were AMAZING. Choua took her sweet sweet time with my feet and was meticulous about scrubbing my gross quarantine calluses. She was friendly, sweet and accommodating. A+!!! The massage chair also earns an A+ Everything was super clean. They sanitized us and took our temperature upon arrival. I watched as they sanitized the massage chair after our appointment. The only slight bummer was their online appointment system- a little confusing to use. But overall FANTASTIC relaxing experience! Coming back for sure :) read more

Needed to try a new place. I am super picky when it comes to my nails- keep this is mind. Called and made an appt with a lovely gentleman named Micheal prior to arriving. When arriving to the salon I was greeted with smiles and when i say they have colors, they have literally every color of the rainbow!!! The salon was VERY CLEAN. All new tools used, everything was very sanitary. I got a shellac mani and some coffee pedi and it was amazing. Micheal offered champagne with fresh strawberries during my pedi. My appointment ended up taking longer than expected and the lovely owner Micheal offered to go pay my parking meter for me! Now if that isn't amazing customer service idk what is. Thank you for the lovely experience can't wait to be back! read more

Essential Nail Bar is by far the best nail salon I've come by. The technicians are meticulous- and I'm incredibly picky. The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable and the salon is pristine. The price may be a bit higher than some other salons, but let me assure you the quality is well worth it. I've worked with many technicians and they are all excellent. But shout out to Daisy who did my first powder dip manicure, and I LOVE it! Thank you Essential Nail Bar! read more

Great service, clean new upscale salon, friendly staff, and my nails looked great. They just gained a new customer!

I frequent Birmingham Nails- Today there was a long wait time so I decided to try the new nail bar in town. I walked in at 11:40 am. The gentleman at the desk/owner told me that they have appointments coming in at 12:00- 20 minutes until noon. I asked him if someone could please at least take my polish off- I had somewhere to be and needed something f very easy- He said "no" Side note, the manicurist was texting behind the bar- she could have easily helped me. There was not a "I am sorry, can you come back later" there was no" we can at least take your polish off". Nothing. I left there disappointed- not because Of my nails- I was disappointed because we need to keep our town thriving- nobody is in a position- especially with 30+ places to get their nails done in town- to turn customers away. When I left, I felt the fair thing to do would be to call him and let him know from a business perspective, customer service is number most important. I told him how disappointed I was and hoped that he would do better with the next customer. He didn't care- hung up and that was the end of it. Unfortunately for him, customer service goes way further then a manicure. I hope that my phone call helped him. As always, I am going back to Birmingham nails where they do their best to squeeze me in or tell me a time to come back. I wish the salon only the best, however, I will never be back nor will I be referring people to Essential Nails read more

By far my favorite nail place! Always accommodating and friendly and I love the way my nails look each time!

I am so happy to have found Essential Nail Bar. It is very clean and modern inside and they have the most nail polish choices of any nail salon I've ever been to. They are doing a great job to make you feel safe during this time of Covid- temperature check and hand sanitizing when you walk in. All staff and customers in masks. My pedicure was very relaxing and I'm excited to go back for a mani. Highly recommend! read more

Moved here from ATL and loved my salon, but this is the place to go. It's beautiful, extremely clean, and everyone is so nice. My nails grow extremely fast so I should go more often than once a month, but it's always a treat to be here! read more

I came into this place for a pedicure and dip powder with tip extensions. Daisy did not know what she was doing. She took 3 hours for both services and still didn't finish. She burned me with the drill, cut me with the cuticle cutter, then proceeded to dip my bloody thumb into the dip powder container that everyone else uses. My nails were crooked and dented and misshaped and you could see through the dip. She put regular top coat on that she then buffed off and at that point I had had it and left. The owner didn't charge me for the services and I came back 2 days later to get them redone. I got the Apres Gel-X nail extensions the second time and Nancy also cut me and put way too much glue for the nails on and caused clumps under my nails. They looked better but the service I still was not satisfied with. A week and a half later my pedicure started chipping which pedicures always last me a month. The quality you get for the price is not worth it at all. Most of the techs do not know what they were doing and even though I was compensated it was still one of the worst services I have ever gotten. I tried this salon to see if I would come back again and with these terrible services I will never be back read more

This place is awesome. The moment you walk in they take your temperature, provide hand sanitizer, and give you gloves to pick out your color. There are shields at the manicure bar for safety, and everyone is wearing masks. The service is amazing, and they do great quality nails. Everything you'd want a nail salon to be, especially during Covid. read more
