    Almond milk latte
    Lisal F.

While visiting Boone we needed coffee. A quick internet search revealed Espresso News was just steps away from the antique shop we had just finished exploring. Clearly it was meant to be. My almond milk latte was topped with some pretty impressive foam art and was delicious, but could have been a little hotter. My co-conspirator enjoyed her chai latte which was also beautifully adorned with a foamy flower. In addition to typical espresso bar offerings (coffees, espresso drinks, teas) they offer a variety of pastries including some vegan options. Pricing is pretty reasonable for a local coffee place in a retreat/skiing/mountain town, but I do wish they didn't charge extra for plant based milks. I always feel a little discriminated against when charged more for trying to make healthy nutritional and environmental choices.

Very nice atmosphere but don't order anything with matcha. Need real matcha and a matcha whisk. I couldn't drink it. My sister's cappuccino was really good though!

Tasty drinks and cool company! It's definitely a popular spot with heavy traffic, but there's seating downstairs, upstairs, and outside. Came by on a Sunday so we had free parking, otherwise you may need to plan on paying for a spot. Dulce de latte and spinach scone were both delicious.

Espresso News is where it's at! A cute coffee shop tucked into a back street in downtown Boone, NC, with great coffee and pastries. And the prices are a bit lower than the average coffee shops I frequent! I needed to get some work done while visiting town, and was recommended to come here. It seems like a lot of students do the same because the tables were mostly full, but I managed to snag one. There was a small line and a short wait to get my drink, but it moved somewhat quickly. The staff were friendly and obviously working hard to get orders out. The lavender + almond milk latte I ordered was super tasty (bonus points for having a half caf option)! I decided to stop in the next day as well to try out the chai latte I'd heard lots of good things about--it was a good chai latte but I do think I prefer the coffee. I also tried a vegan apple pecan muffin which was pretty good--I have a feeling some of the other pastries might have been better, but I wanted to choose something that would compliment the chai. I have my eye on the dill and feta savory scone for next time!

Such a cute small coffee shop! The staff is friendly and after a few returns remembered me and my order! Parking is a bit tight but a short walk from king street which has plenty of parking. Delicious coffee ground in house!

What a delish cup of coffee! Just got your basic latte w/ almond milk and yummmmmmmmm! Service was great. They also have a somewhat rustic feel to the place. It's behind a avenue in a back parking lot. So very cute.

All the pastries I've tried have been moist and good. Would order again. Always a line out the door when I go. The only downside is how long it takes to order. Line seems to move slowly.

Stopped by this cafe in Boone on our way home and it's great! Fast service, and excellent coffee- located right downtown. Very trendy place to get your day started in the mountains!

    Orange poppyseed vegan muffin. Delicious.

I stopped here the other day as I was headed out of Boone. I've been trying to limit my coffee intake recently so I ordered the seasonal special Peppermint Chai latte. I also ordered the orange poppyseed muffin, that happened to be vegan. The chai was delicious - the perfect amount of spice and creaminess. The muffin on the other hand was bomb. I'm not sure if they made it in house, but it was super moist and did not crumble. The staff was nice and welcoming. Side note- Due to COVID you currently you can not sit inside. They have 2-3 tables outside, so treat Espresso News as a grab and go place right now...

Pretty dingy, dirty bathrooms, subpar customer service and coffee was okay. Plenty of other coffee shops to try. I'd skip this one.

Awesome spot for a cup of Joe! Great prices too, way better than your typical chain. Hip vibe, nice place to sit and chill.

I ordered a pour-over, and it was clean, smooth, and brewed with obvious care. Straightforward and well executed. I also had an iced latte with a Hot Honey flavor, and that was the surprise standout. The espresso held up nicely over ice, and the hot honey brought a subtle sweetness with a gentle kick of heat on the finish. Refreshing, a little bold, and really enjoyable. Between the solid coffee and the nostalgic, gear-filled atmosphere, Bald Guy Brew is a fun stop that's absolutely worth pulling off the road for.

The coffee is amazing, the staff is friendly and helpful with ordering! My husband is a fan of the chocolate muffin. I was there for the coffee! Day 1 tried the pour over, and Day 2 Nitro cold brew. Both were smooth and full of flavor. . They also sell local honey with a large variety of flavors and local meat. We got some burgers and pork sausage links to grill while in town, and they were really good. The meat is on the pricey side but that is expected with fresh local meat. They also have a small shop in Blowing Rock in case you don't make it here. Definitely put them on your list of places to go while in town. This bald guy knows his stuff!

Coffee Shop No. 492 Camp Coffee Roasters…read moreBlowing Rock NC April 9 2025 Camp Coffee Roasters is a little coffee shop in Blowing Rock, North Carolina, a charming little mountain village. The downtown area sits about a mile from the iconic Blue Ridge Parkway (connects the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in North Carolina to the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia). Camp Coffee Roasters has a cozy vibe and an obvious appreciation for the outdoors. It might have something to do with their neighbors; Footloggers, an outdoor store. Be sure to climb the stairs near the front door of the coffee shop. They lead to a loft, overlooking Footloggers, where you can relax in a wing back chair or get some work done at a table near a window. The barista was friendly and made a respectable cortado. Enjoying life one cortado at a time!

This time, however, my mom and I were extremely disappointed. We were served by a young man who seemed to be the owner's son, while the owner and another young man stood behind the counter. He forgot to ask what sizes we wanted, and when I got my Campfire Cold Brew, it came without cream. The menu clearly said: Cold brew, marshmallow, Hershey chocolate, and cream. I thought maybe it wasn't my drink, but the young man confirmed it was. When I asked if it was supposed to have cream, he said no, but that he could add some. I double-checked the menu: "It says it comes with cream." That's when an older woman suddenly appeared, glaring. "There's cream right there," she snapped. I'm guessing she was his mom, given her signature mama bear energy. Sorry, lady! I was just trying to make sure I got what I paid for, especially since two small coffees cost $16. Anyway, if you're looking for an adventure, head to Camp Coffee. You might not see a wild bear in the mountains, but you just might meet one behind the counter
