Latte and a sipping chocolate with a shot of espresso

This is the spot! We did our research and we think this is a place everyone goes to get their coffee beans in the area. We had great service and the coffee was delicious. We also loved our breakfast burritos, it was the perfect way to start the day before we began our hikes during the snowy three day weekend. It's a bit hidden in off a side street but otherwise easy parking and fast service.

Breakfast Burrito

The breakfast burrito was super bland. No flavor at all and it wasn't grilled on the outside. The coffee wasn't great either. Just lacking depth and flavor overall. Disappointed

Awesome coffee shop! I came here originally before climbing at C45 right next door, but the line was so long I decided to stop by on my way out of town instead. I had an iced coffee and orange cranberry scone. I sat down and read for a bit while enjoying the drink and food. It's so light and vibrant in here, they also have a good small merch section with local artists/vendors up front that's fun to peruse. I will absolutely return here either before or after climbing (just depends on if the line is out the door)!

I came across Hatchet Coffee at a music festival food truck in Banner Elk. I didn't have time to get to Boone the next day for the "in person" experience, so I had to wait. My next trip to the NC mountains was planned AROUND my Hatchet visit. Yes, it is that good! I have since ordered at least 15 pounds of different coffees from Hatchet. It is hard for me to have anything else! My favorite is the Blue Ridge - velvety smooth espresso pull! Enjoy!

I'm a little bummed that my wife wanted to drive onwards this morning after we got coffee because this looks like an amazing spot to sit and laptop for a couple of hours. I'll be bookmarking it for a future visit. First, great coffee. A cortado for me, served in a small paper cup. A latte for my wife. My coffee was strong and hot, perfect to get started on Sunday morning. Second, there's a big seating space inside. Most of the tables have power outlets and the background music is low. It looks comfy for sure. I definitely need to return to Hatchet and I'm glad they are a "round number" review! [Review 20124 overall - 3476 in North Carolina - round number 1100 of 2023.]

This coffee shop is bright and open space. They have a pretty good selection of coffee and tea and even hot chocolate! I got the warm hug latte, and it smells and tastes of cinnamon and warmth, delicious! The hot chocolate was rich, creamy, and chocolatey ( all of the key ingredients in a great hot chocolate). They also serve burritos ( breakfast and lunch), avocado toast, and a variety of baked goods. It is a busy place! The entire time we were there, people were constantly coming in. The staff handles the business well, filling orders and getting them out without a very long wait. The drinks were a little slower to come out but well worth the wait!

Hatchet coffee is great! My wife and I stopped here during our visit to Boone and actually went back again the next day! They had a number of delicious options that were coffee, teas, and smoothies. They also have a good amount of food and pastry you could order! We got a regular and a chocolate and banana croissant and they were both delicious. Definitely worth a stop here if you're going to be anywhere near it!

It's the best place for coffee in the Boone area! The staff is always so friendly and the drinks are so good! I love the busy bee latte but this time I tried something new, I got the seasonal, strawberry matcha lemonade. Let me tell you, that was the best matcha lemonade I've ever had! I'd recommend getting it while you can!

I really enjoyed coming here! It was packed but I can definitely see why!!! The coffee was really good! I ended up getting the whole avocado toast and the "warm hug" coffee both of which was really good! I would definitely come back and recommend this place!

I adore Hatchet! Such a cute spot and the drinks are always great. I always stop by when I'm in town to try new flavors. I have enjoyed their matcha in the past and recently really liked their honey bee latte. Would recommend the avocado toast, very flavorful and they do not skimp on the avocado. The people there are always super nice and provide good recommendations. They also have a lot of spacious seating and cute merch, as well as products from other small businesses. Definitely worth a visit!

Nothing I love more than a sweet treat with my coffee! Hatchet combines all the unique and cool aspects of Boone in one! From their local artist vending machines, to merch stands of more local artist down to their vegetarian food options. Pictured is a seasonal latte with their breakfast burrito that you can't even tell is vegetarian meat! Always love a slow morning here!

The NEW Hatchet located in downtown West Jefferson is fly. This was a nice way to spend our morning. We were able to meet up with some locals & chat. The fresh pastries & coffee are excellent. There are nice gifts you can grab. Knowledgable & kind owners & management. Highly recommend.

Not all nitros are good... this is a hazelnut one. Delicious! This is our go to stop when going to Boone.

I ordered a pour-over, and it was clean, smooth, and brewed with obvious care. Straightforward and well executed. I also had an iced latte with a Hot Honey flavor, and that was the surprise standout. The espresso held up nicely over ice, and the hot honey brought a subtle sweetness with a gentle kick of heat on the finish. Refreshing, a little bold, and really enjoyable. Between the solid coffee and the nostalgic, gear-filled atmosphere, Bald Guy Brew is a fun stop that's absolutely worth pulling off the road for.

The coffee is amazing, the staff is friendly and helpful with ordering! My husband is a fan of the chocolate muffin. I was there for the coffee! Day 1 tried the pour over, and Day 2 Nitro cold brew. Both were smooth and full of flavor. . They also sell local honey with a large variety of flavors and local meat. We got some burgers and pork sausage links to grill while in town, and they were really good. The meat is on the pricey side but that is expected with fresh local meat. They also have a small shop in Blowing Rock in case you don't make it here. Definitely put them on your list of places to go while in town. This bald guy knows his stuff!

Coffee Shop No. 492 Camp Coffee Roasters…read moreBlowing Rock NC April 9 2025 Camp Coffee Roasters is a little coffee shop in Blowing Rock, North Carolina, a charming little mountain village. The downtown area sits about a mile from the iconic Blue Ridge Parkway (connects the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in North Carolina to the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia). Camp Coffee Roasters has a cozy vibe and an obvious appreciation for the outdoors. It might have something to do with their neighbors; Footloggers, an outdoor store. Be sure to climb the stairs near the front door of the coffee shop. They lead to a loft, overlooking Footloggers, where you can relax in a wing back chair or get some work done at a table near a window. The barista was friendly and made a respectable cortado. Enjoying life one cortado at a time!

This time, however, my mom and I were extremely disappointed. We were served by a young man who seemed to be the owner's son, while the owner and another young man stood behind the counter. He forgot to ask what sizes we wanted, and when I got my Campfire Cold Brew, it came without cream. The menu clearly said: Cold brew, marshmallow, Hershey chocolate, and cream. I thought maybe it wasn't my drink, but the young man confirmed it was. When I asked if it was supposed to have cream, he said no, but that he could add some. I double-checked the menu: "It says it comes with cream." That's when an older woman suddenly appeared, glaring. "There's cream right there," she snapped. I'm guessing she was his mom, given her signature mama bear energy. Sorry, lady! I was just trying to make sure I got what I paid for, especially since two small coffees cost $16. Anyway, if you're looking for an adventure, head to Camp Coffee. You might not see a wild bear in the mountains, but you just might meet one behind the counter

At the recommendation of one of the knowledgeable baristas, I ordered the maple cardamom latte, and it absolutely delivered. The maple brought a warm, natural sweetness, while the cardamom added a subtle aromatic spice that made the whole drink feel layered and intentional. It was comforting without being heavy. That paired perfectly with a cinnamon orange white chocolate scone -- bright citrus notes, gentle spice, and just enough sweetness from the white chocolate to tie it all together. The flavors played off the latte beautifully. I finished with an amaretto latte, which was strong on the nose with that classic almond aroma, yet surprisingly smooth and easy on the palate. Bold but balanced -- a great way to end the visit. Great coffee, thoughtful flavor combinations, and baristas who know their craft. Espresso News is absolutely worth a stop when you're in Boone.
