Be sure to climb the stairs near the front door of the coffee shop. I've been to Camp Coffee a few times before. I'm from Boone, but I love Blowing Rock and visit often. Usually, we're greeted by friendly faces and a cozy atmosphere. Usually. This time, however, my mom and I were extremely disappointed. We were served by a young man who seemed to be the owner's son, while the owner and another young man stood behind the counter. He forgot to ask what sizes we wanted, and when I got my Campfire Cold Brew, it came without cream. The menu clearly said: Cold brew, marshmallow, Hershey chocolate, and cream. I thought maybe it wasn't my drink, but the young man confirmed it was. When I asked if it was supposed to have cream, he said no, but that he could add some. I double-checked the menu: "It says it comes with cream." That's when an older woman suddenly appeared, glaring. "There's cream right there," she snapped. I'm guessing she was his mom, given her signature mama bear energy. Sorry, lady! I was just trying to make sure I got what I paid for, especially since two small coffees cost $16. Anyway, if you're looking for an adventure, head to Camp Coffee. You might not see a wild bear in the mountains, but you just might meet one behind the counter read more

This is a mixed review. I've had coffee here several times and it's always excellent. My coffee today was so so but I guess the barista was having a bad day because I didn't get the cute little leaf or heart on the top like I usually do and the coffee was dumped in front of me with no lid as the barista looked sideways at the tip jar. Considering the cost of a cup of cappuccino I will forego tipping you for doing your job. They also do not take cash anymore, but only credit/ debit cards. When I asked if the customer had to pay the credit card fee, I was told no - that it was figured into what they charge for the coffee. Well, my coffee was about three dollars more than usual today so that's a bit disingenuous. Yes you as a customer are paying the credit card fee even though it's the store that is saying you can't pay with cash. read more

Camp Coffee Roasters was the cutest little coffee and cookie shop (with an attached gift shop). We ordered a latte with non-fat milk and a honey lavender latte. We also ordered the Kitchen Sink cookie (didn't snap a picture) and it was DELICIOUS. It was chewy, sweet, and buttery. It was also massive. Our barista was super nice and created some pretty latte art for us. The coffee was warm, comforting, and everything we needed on a cold day. It was the perfect drink to sip on while walking in quaint, downtown Blowing Rock. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a delicious coffee (or cookie)! read more

I've been to this coffee shop, twice in like three days. I really enjoy their lattes, baked goods and it's super close to my hotel. It seems super cozy and looks like a great place to get a few work ours in. I plan to make it back by as I can. I love to support local shops any time I can get. This one just marks all the boxes for that breakfast coffee and baked good! It's a bonus that the staff is super nice and friendly. read more

Service is always questionable here. Just left the place Sunday morning and the gentleman at the register should never be customer facing. He had a grump scowl on his face and NEVER SAID A SINGLE WORD to me. Just stared. Never smiled never broke the scowl. Never said thank you or come back or how's your morning or go F yourself which would've been something. Watched the woman make a latte and two of them produced two lattes in 5 min between the conversations. She keep banging the canister of milk over and over before getting the latte out the door. Reasonably priced with wonderful coffee and pastries. Welcoming and enthusiastic staff. Pleasant ambiance. Came here both mornings of our weekend stay. Note that this is the only coffee shop open before 10am on Sunday in Blowing Rock. Will definitely be back on our next visit. read more

Kind of disappointed. Read all these great reviews anddddd the coffee was just... okay. The menu is small and hard to read unless you're like up at the counter or next to be helped. I felt a little rushed since I had never been there before and didn't know what I wanted. People started coming in behind me so I ordered a campfire latte (at least I think that's what it was called! It had marshmallow and chocolate in it.) I paid close to $6 for a 16oz iced, with zero extras. Maybe that's the norm here, but where I come from, I could get a 24oz for that price. Anyway, I should have listened to the guy who said his coffee was watery cause he hit the nail on the head with his review. It wasn't bad, but it didn't make me want to come back either. Not sure how many espresso shots come in a small, but the coffee/coffee flavor was lacking. Maybe it would have been better hot, but who drinks hot lattes when it's like 80 degrees outside? They did offer an array of pastries, but I didn't even get the chance to look. Either way, the place seemed clean and other people seemed to enjoy it. Staff was nice, I guess. Not overly friendly or had any suggestions when I said it was my first time though. Maybe I'm slightly critical of my coffee and need to give the place a second chance, but I think I'll try a different shop tomorrow to see if somewhere else is better before going back. ‍ read more

What a jerk! I walked into the store at 4:54pm to buy coffee beans and as soon as I crossed the threshold she raises her voice a bit to say, "We're closed now." My husband asked her what time they close and she replied, "Now." Advice to the store owner, train your employees to act in a way that is curious such as asking, "How can we help you today?" rather than operating in a way that would seemingly "inconvenience" the employee to have to work a minute past closing time. read more

This has been one of the best espresso bars I've been to in the high country!!! The espresso has been consistently exceeding my expectations! The baristas really know how to texture the milk and how to balance it out as well. Service was quick and really pleasant. The interior of the shop is quaint and cozy. With a name like Camp Coffee in the mountains I immediately circled this weeks before my trip because it's just about the coolest name I've ever heard for a coffee shop on my hiking trip throughout North Carolina and Virginia. It was honestly one of the more disappointing places we went for food/drinks during the trip. 1. We ordered iced caramel coffees and they tasted like water. The coffee taste or flavor wasn't really all there. Very watery. 2. I really wanted to take a bag of coffee home with me and their bagged coffee was almost $20 a bag. Now, I go to a lot of coffee shops in the South East and none are $20 bucks a bag. It's more of a $12-$16 dollar range. 3. The dude who made our drinks couldn't have been any more less interested in us. He was too busy having a conversation with some other dude in the shop. 4ish - Don't get me wrong - Camp Coffee isn't bad...it just isn't good. I recommend The Local Lion in Boone, NC for coffee. read more

Nice, local coffee joint on the edge of downtown. This little shop was just a few steps away from our hotel on the Eastern end of town. We wanted something caffeinated but cold in the afternoon so we got a large iced chai latte. The server was very pleasant and as a bonus, we used our Yelp check-in to get a discount. Then we enjoyed sitting outside and enjoying the outdoors before doing more shopping. They roast their own coffee and also have pastries and other beverages. We'll take an independently owned coffee place over a large chain any day. read more

We bought four coffees and threw two away right after we left. They were terrible which is surprising for a place that specializes in coffee. Also the prices weren't posted but I know that I could have asked. The girl at the counter didn't seem to enjoy her job. We just moved into Blowing Rock ten days ago and we've already been here three or four times. They have an awesome selection of lattes and mochas. My favorites have been the honey lavender latte and the orange mocha. They even have nitro coffee. They also have a wide selection of baked goods with quiche, croissants, cookies, muffins and more. read more
