I arrived already having had breakfast at their cafe, which easily convinced me that getting a large quantity of baked goods to share was a good idea. Notably, this place is open six days a week and into the early evening, which I appreciate because there are a lot of bakeries that I would like to try that aren't open when I need them to be. The selection was starting to decline just a bit towards the end of the day, but I still found plenty. Notably a chocolate hazelnut galette that would make one forget that Nutella ever existed, along with a wide selection of frequently very rich pastries. The olive oil and rosemary bread was a hit, and I had several pieces of it. The place also had a small market section with a few artisanal local goods. Overall, it delivered exactly what I wanted as a traveler seeking regional and excellent baked goods.

Strict Boy was the first thing that came up when I googled bakeries around Boone. We couldn't make it our first stop since it was closed on Sunday, but made sure to come back the following day. There were so many options which made it impossible to limit what we bought. I thought all the pastries were good but on the colder side. But they still maintained their moistness and crisp. We liked the twice baked almond croissant, the morning bun, the spinach cheddar scone and the cinnamon roll. We also got a large chocolate peanut butter pie that came frozen but was super easy to defrost a few hours before dinner. Definitely make a stop here if you're looking for a morning pastry or a pie to bring for post dinner dessert!

I got an array of pastries and nothing disappointed!! The chocolate chip cookie was to die for and I was so so happy to see a pastel de nata in the case. Those are so underrated. The girl who checked us out was sweet and had a little convo with us even though it was so busy in there! I also got a seasonal chai latte and I loveddd it. 10/10 I would come here everyday if I could

Go here. Buy all the things. Every time I go to Boone I stop here. I buy coffee drinks (always good) I select items from the pastry case to eat while driving around. I buy frozen pastries and cookies for myself and folks at home. I buy dog treats because my dogs love them. I buy pimento cheese from the cold case. I haven't had a single thing from there that I haven't absolutely loved I am still dreaming of of this molasses bread and if I ever see it again I am definitely buying as many as I can!

Great for a quick stop, sweet treat. I passed this after having eaten at the kitchen and decided to swing in to see what else they had to offer. It's a nice bright place, lots of knickknacks and gifts on display too. I ended up ordering an orange dreamsicle macaron and chocolate chip cookie. Both hit the spot, were generously sized too. Good value for money, and the woman helping me a good hiking recommendation. Would definitely return for some more treats!

While on vacation we saw this bakery on Yelp and knew we had to try it! We walked in to friendly and helpful staff and an amazing selection of baked goods! We got a variety of pastries, a loaf of bread and iced coffees. Everything was wonderful! A must if in Boone, NC!

If you choose any of the bakery's around the area. This one is the best. They made the best cinnamon rolls. The icing had a wonderful flavor all by itself. My husband choice was a scone or 2 lol. They were huge and created well. I bought a sourdough whole bread and they sliced it. Sometimes you feel like the flavor is off in sweets not here. Thanks Stick Boy!

We love sourdough bread, and got a very different one from this bakery, with pea flour. Surprisingly, the interior of the bread was purple! It had a good taste, and made for some very good sandwiches. Apart from bread they also bake all kind of goodies.

I have mixed feelings about this place…read more We stumbled upon this place while walking down sides streets, after having a not so great breakfast elsewhere. It looked really cute and funky and I was looking to get a coffee to go. I noticed a small building that looked like a bakery and indeed had bakery goods and cupcakes inside. I went in, hoping to get a coffee and a cupcake. There was someone working behind the counter but she never looked up or said a thing to me. I thought maybe I shouldn't have been there, so I left. We went inside the building and finally someone asked if they could help us and they did go get me a coffee. We noticed there was a bar inside the larger building and my husband started chatting up the woman there (who I'm 99% sure was the owner) but she was super bitchy and not having any part of the conversation. That was enough for me (you don't me around? fine, I'll stay away) but for some reason my husband really found that bar charming and a few days later we went back. Luckily for us, Patrick was bartending that night! He was super friendly, and we spent the evening chatting with him. The drinks were good, and we did order dinner that we both enjoyed. He really made the night a fun one. If I was back in the area, we'd probably stop back in, and hope Patrick was working!

Like others have mentioned, the woman who answered was very rude and with an attitude. This was the conversation: "hi, is this the cupcrazed cafe in blowing rock?" "how can I help you" "what are your hours today?" "we're not open" "so are you guys permanently closed?" "We're not open" "okay, what time do you guys open?" "we're not open this weekend" "okay bye bye". For whatever reason, they don't want customers, and they don't want people to know when they're open. Wild if people think they can run a restaurant that way. You couldn't pay me to go there now

This pastry business is located in a tiny cottage, think She Shed, on a small side street in downtown Blowing Rock. Everything was nicely labeled and priced but there were names I hadn't heard before. Julie was very informative and kindly answered all of our, "Ooooh, what's that?" questions. We were torn between a couple of items, so like any sensible person, we bought both. She told us to eat them at room temperature for best enjoyment. She said the "Crème" is homemade puff pastry with a thick layer of Mousseline Cream. That means they take their crème patisserie and then add silky butter. Is your mouth watering yet? We each got a Crème and a Cream Puff. We ate the Crème first and sweet mother of all things delicious, it was otherworldly. We immediately prayed that the Puff would have the same filling. It did. When we go back next year, I'll be getting a treat for everyday we are there. TIP #1: Beware Donna. She was in the next store Serves You Right. She offered to take our pink pastry box. Everyone in BR is so nice, we thought she was being helpful so we could shop. Then we saw the humorous glint in her eyes! Pastry Thief! LOL! Donna and Karen told us that Julie is the daughter and her mother is from Germany. The mom makes everything in Hickory and they drive it up fresh every day. They raved about everything! TIP #2: They are closed every Wednesday, so plan ahead.

At the recommendation of one of the knowledgeable baristas, I ordered the maple cardamom latte, and it absolutely delivered. The maple brought a warm, natural sweetness, while the cardamom added a subtle aromatic spice that made the whole drink feel layered and intentional. It was comforting without being heavy. That paired perfectly with a cinnamon orange white chocolate scone -- bright citrus notes, gentle spice, and just enough sweetness from the white chocolate to tie it all together. The flavors played off the latte beautifully. I finished with an amaretto latte, which was strong on the nose with that classic almond aroma, yet surprisingly smooth and easy on the palate. Bold but balanced -- a great way to end the visit. Great coffee, thoughtful flavor combinations, and baristas who know their craft. Espresso News is absolutely worth a stop when you're in Boone.
