My husband got the coffee ice cream and I got the peppermint ice cream. Loved the cookie sandwich! Peppermint ice cream is so hard to get right especially since it can taste like toothpaste but blue deer got it right - sweet, tasty, and perfect texture. Great place for a coffee, cookies or ice cream. Located on King Street parking next to the shop. (If you go on the weekend the parking deck across the street is free parking) I had a peanut butter cookie it was really thin but had great flavor with peanut chunks. My husband got the oatmeal raisin cookie sandwich with vanilla ice cream. He liked it - there was so much ice cream I took some and made mine a sandwich- the ice cream was really creamy and good. Another nice coffee shop. I stopped here on the way out of Boone for a coffee for the road. I ordered an iced dreamsicle (orange) latte. It was definitely interesting, probably not my favorite but not bad by any means. A bit steep ($7) after tip, but I guess you can't really even get a hot drip anywhere for less than $4 so I can't complain too much! The shop itself is really clean and cozy, there is an upstairs area too where I sat for a bit while enjoying the first few sips and watching passersby on the main street below., I think next time I would try a different flavor and definitely get a cookie and/or ice cream. read more

This location is at the end of busy main street Boone. Parking is a little small and tight. The two staff who were working greeted us and were pleasant. My wife and I each ordered an ice cream sandwich. The cookies were good as well as ice cream. Sandwiches come wrapped in paper, in a boat and includes a wooden spoon. Blue Deer was on my must do list during a recent trip to the mountains after seeing them on Instagram several times. They have a decent menu with plenty of cookies, ice cream, and other drinks to choose from. After several minutes of indecision I ordered the gingersnap cookies and peppermint ice cream since it's the holidays. The wait was worth it! The employee (nice college kid who'd been doing homework) handed me the biggest ice cream sandwich I'd ever seen! No joke, it was probably 3" tall. I attacked it with a spoon. The ice cream had lots of flavor and was rich. Put this on your list! I wish Raleigh had one. read more

We were in Boone for a week visit, and our Airbnb host recommended that we try blue deer. We were so glad we stopped by! This location on King had just opened about two weeks earlier. On a hot summer day, this was the perfect place to stop by! The store is small, only one table and a couple of bar seats downstairs. So with COVID-19, if there is more than one person in line, they might have to wait outside the door in order to social distance. But they do have an upstairs patio that the employees mentioned to us (we didn't get a chance to go up there and see it). The employees were very friendly and gave us their recommendations since it was our first time in the store. We both got their signature ice cream sandwich - two cookies with ice cream in the middle. We choose to do the standard chocolate chip cookies with vanilla ice cream. Delicious! The store also had a variety of coffee drinks. Would definitely recommend stopping by here if you are walking around downtown Boone! read more

More thick than creamy. The store itself is super cute and minimal. Prices were definitely fair, $3 for a generous sized cup of ice cream, and $2.50 - $5 for different coffee drinks.
