The service here is wonderful. Most of the time, the batistas know our brew as we pull up to the window. Love coming here.

Cute little drive through. Staff had smiling faces and were quick. I'll definitely return when I'm in the area.

I recently visited this adorable coffee shop on one of my visits to Virginia City, NV. I'm not…read morea regular coffee drinker, but I was looking to get my iced brew fix and there aren't many options in town. You have to drive into Reno or Carson City to hit up a Starbucks or comparable coffee place. I heard from locals about The Roasting House. I saw pics of celebrities like Terrance Howard and Jeremy Renner sitting on the quaint little bar stools inside. Roasting House has officially entered the coffee chat room! On my first visit, I saw that the Iced Brew special was Carrot Cake. Um? Only my favorite cake! I had the best timing and hit the jackpot! Of course that's what I ordered. It was delicious! The decor is absolutely adorable. It's like a beautiful Victorian feel to it. It has beautiful furniture, pictures on the wall, and they have coffee, jewelry for sale and other items. Additionally, they roast their coffee beans on-site with a large vintage roasting machine towards the back of the shop. The place definitely has an elegant, antique-like ambience that fits perfectly with VC. They also serve various baked goods, bagel sandwiches and other breakfast items. You will have a great start to your day by coming here first. Service is impeccable and the staff is super friendly. As you go towards the rear of the shop, there is a beautiful patio that overlooks Virginia city and the streets below C Street. It's a perfect place to sit and enjoy your morning coffee and breakfast item. It's very peaceful with beautiful scenery and they've added some rustic patio furniture. I've been back a couple times and the prices are really good. I'm from the Bay Area and compared to where I'm from the prices are more than reasonable for coffee. This is a place not to be missed when you visit Virginia City!

Is it worth the ride from Reno for a cup of coffee?…read more Subjective to the individual. But, if you like to ride, and enjoy the routes up to Virginia City, the Roasting House is an excellent place to stop for an alternate beverage than what is commonly sold up here. The service is quick and friendly, the vibe is laid back. Rustic decor with always the seasonal addition! With the trip for me! Support an excellent local business.

The place itself is quite small with limited parking, but everyone is nice and kind and they have little buzzers to notify you when your table is ready :) I got the French toast with strawberries and oh my goodness it was DELICIOUS. The French toast was a perfect blend of fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. The bread itself was amazing. I opted in for some fresh strawberries, but you can get other fruit or a fruit syrup as well. The French toast also comes with warm maple syrup, and I can attest it was definitely warm. It made the whole eating experience feel luxurious, and I had a delightful time eating it all up. If I ever come back to Lake Tahoe for holiday, I will definitely need to swing by this place to experience this French toast again. So good!

Dairy allergy beware! For poisoning…read more Pros: Great seating Easy parking Friendly Decent kids-food options Plenty of open seats during the off-season Cons: Not allergy friendly. Ugh. Moderate portion size for price Unclear menu ------------- Worst food poisoning this decade. I told the waitress I had a dairy allergy, but she did not write it down. I asked about dairy in the dish I ordered; I'm pretty sure the kitchen switched out the chicken sausage from the menu for chicken&cheese sausage -- an avoidable error IF the kitchen is informed. Extremely disappointed.

Gayle and I shared some confusion today as we enjoyed a nice lunch at what was either The Canvas…read moreCafe or The Cider House at Canvas Cafe. We think there may have been some recent movements by the owners, and for the purposes of this review, I'll go with this Yelp entry the matches the pictures to what we experienced. Today was a quiet post-New Years day and Gayle wanted to dine someplace besides the Red Dog Saloon (our "usual"). The Canvas Cafe (or whatever it's called now) was just a block or so down C street and open. The dining room was small, cute, inviting, and warm. It was also a "one man show" today as one guy was working both the kitchen and the dining room (and very well). I especially appreciate a really busy guy who maintained a relatively high service level, with a smile and a generous side of patience. We all ordered sandwiches, including French Dip for Gayle, Smash Burger for Darling Granddaughter, and a grilled Chicken Pesto for me. Everything was delicious, with my only regret being that I should have ordered the impressive side salad that Gayle chose. A small bag of chips really didn't do the sandwich justice. I would have also preferred a beer, but there was no alcohol served today, and my bottomless glass of lemonade was more than just fine. Gayle and I agreed that we'd love to come back in whatever main place or annex. It's a fair drive back to Genoa from VC, and we were happy to head down the hill full and happy.
