Management and linecooks were the main problem.They had a lot of people quit and owner hadn't been on site in a very long time. We ordered the 10oz Ribeye Medium Rare with over easy eggs, hash browns and sourdough toast, and the Hoss. The Ribeye had more fat and gristle than meat, the hash browns had a strange flavor, almost sweet like root beer. The toast was white bread instead of the sourdough. We do not usually complain about our food, but steak and hash browns were inedible. When we told our server she said "well, what do you want me to do about it, I'll get my manager." We heard her complain to her manager about our concern, then after the manager came over we explained it again. She said, "ok, I'll go see what I can do." the waitress returned with the ticket and set it on the table without saying a word. They discounted $2.30, the steak and eggs were $23. Went there for dinner on a Sunday. Arrived around 6pm and the restaurant wasn't very busy. Server was good, but it took over 45 minutes to get 2 sandwiches. By the time the food got to our table, sandwiches and fries were cold. You could tell it had sat there for a long time. And, it was apparent the restaurant places more emphasis on take out orders than those who go there in person. Great place to stop on the road! We'd seen this a few times on a drive to or from Reno but never stopped. This weekend was the weekend to do so considering we were famished after nearly nine hours of driving through the desolate Nevada countryside over the last day. It's got a cute rustic charm to it outside, akin to Nashville if you will. Country, but not without the bling and neon lights. The parking lot is rather tiny but it's attached to a small casino so you can park on the other side and walk through the slots if you wish. Upon entering you are greeted by cow hides on the wall, branding irons hanging about and a cute sign that tells you to seat yourself. So we did. It was quite busy but we found an empty booth and were given menus as heavy as a slab of granite. Our waitress was ridiculously busy but very nice and took time to answer our questions. I teetered between a burnt burger (that's the name folks) and a regular burger. I chose the regular because the burnt burger comes with a skirt and I'm not so much a fan. I got the onion nuggets as a side which are basically onion rings but so much better. My husband got himself a steak with beans, green beans and a side of soup. The meal was very good especially for the cheap prices the restaurant provides to their patrons. We were able to get tea to go and even took some left over steak home to our pup. If your in Fallon overnight or passing through and hungry - give it go. You won't be disappointed in the price or the food quality. I would go again for sure! I was busy Saturday night, and the parking lot was full, but we needed to have dinner, some place different than our usual restaurant. It's been a month of having no kitchen since the water damage happened. We found an empty booth right away, and we were greeted by our waitress. She took our drink order and gave us a few minutes to decide what to order. After she took our order, we waited for what seemed like eternity. The waitress apologized for the waitress and informed us that our food would be coming soon. After more than 30 minutes, we finally got our food. Salmon was not even warm, and the rice pilaf was not freshly cooked, but you got what you paid for. Overall, if it wasn't for the attentiveness of our waitress, I would give this place a one-star. We visited this place on a Sunday wanting to try one of their burgers. A sign said to just "seat ourselves" so we did. The place smelled like cigarette smoke to the point where I thought the place was a smoking restaurant. I looked around but no one was smoking. We waited for a while to get our menu. No one ever came so my brother just ended up grabbing menus himself. No biggie right? We spent a long few minutes (15 minutes) looking through the menu. No one ever came. I was already thinking of leaving and going across the street to Stockman's Casino and getting something to eat there. My brother decided to get up and look for someone to take out order. The thing is, this place wasn't even busy so I'm not sure why the wait was so long. Finally a waitress came to take our order. She apologized for the wait. Once she got to us, the service was great. I ordered the JD Slinger burger with a side of cottage cheese. It was good. Nothing super special about it. I can't think of anything that stood out about the cheeseburger other than maybe it was big and filling. I did like the side of cottage cheese though. The waitress stopped by a few times asking how everything was and filled up our drinks. Yah once she started serving us, the service was great. You just had to get your own menu then look for a waitress. I guess that's a problem when you have to "seat yourself." Maybe the wait staff may not know you walked in. Would I come back in to eat? Initially i had mixed feelings about JD slingers. Husband and i decided to try this restaurant out. We ended up having hamburgers. I ordered the mushroom burger, with garlic fries and my husband had a plain burger with regular fries. We also ordered the potato skins appetizer. The potato skins were so delicious. We thought the burgers were okay. But as i kept taking bites, i really started to enjoy the flavor of the meat with the mushrooms, a little salt and pepper would be great though. This restaurant is not worth it. I ordered a ribeye medium well and I got a medium rare! The ribeye was fatty, hardly any meat. Mashed potatoes was nasty. We stopped here on the way through Fallon and will never stop again! This is one of those reviews that won't make a bit of a difference to j d slinger's because this is where the locals go. We were seated as soon as we walked in, and that is where everything ground to almost a halt. We received our drinks within a few minutes but didn't get our breakfast for an easy 30 minutes. That gave us plenty of time to hang out and watch what was going on. The first thing I noticed as soon as we sat down was a dog sitting on the floor next to its owner. Definitely not a service dog, but after all, it is Fallon NV, so it's not too big of a deal. We'll that was until another local came in with a fat chihuahua and sat on the seat next to his owner. I kept telling myself it's Fallon NV, and that worked until I realized that the owner of the fat chihuahua was being served his meal after being waited on a good 10 minutes after we were. I also noticed the table we were sitting at had not been wiped off and one of the local gentleman who came in after us got up and went into the waitress station to get the stuff to clean his table. I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure that is a health inspection violation. That and the 30+ minute wait had us ready to walk out, and after asking where our meals were and letting them know we were ready to walk out, all of a sudden, our breakfast was ready. I'm going to preface this with I'm not from around here so maybe it's just a change of pace from what I'm used to. I'm in town with some friends and we dined here two nights in a row because they have a wider variety than some of the other places around here. There was 9 of us the first visit and 7 of us on the second. The first visit was better than the second. We waited for about an hour before we got our food, and some parts of our orders were wrong but not a big deal. One of the burgers we ordered got dropped and then gave us an extremely well done burger as a replacement like a minute after they had told us they dropped it and then also cooked one of the other burgers wrong. The second visit was a wreck. There was only one waitress taking orders and another one kind of floating around. There were maybe three tables that were filled including ours. We waited an hour before we even got our order taken and then an additional 45 minutes before we got our food. Also as a steakhouse, how are you going to run out of most of your steaks? Anyways, they cooked my steak wrong and none of us got our drinks filled until the end of our meal. The waitress had told us that it usually not as busy as it was for a Sunday so she was overwhelmed, but only four tables were filled at that point...And then it was time to pay and our waitress had brought us the bill and then was nowhere to be found. Very nice spot to stop and grab a hearty Burger. The servers are friendly and quick. The prices are very fair compared to others. I had the Jalapeño Burnt Bacon Burger with Garlic fries (~$14). The burger was huge and delicious. The fries were crispy. Overall, I have no complaints, I was full and satisfied, and it wasn't expensive at all (in today's economy that is). This was the only place I could find with eggs Benedict. It was YUM, the home fries had great flavor and so did the Hollandaise. It was weird to be asked if I wanted my eggs poached, but everything turned out yum in that dish! The gravy tasted packaged and I will not order it here again. But the biscuits were fine. The burger was YUM! I got the mushroom burger plus bacon, with garlic fries. My daughter and I ate the whole thing. So good. Service was good both times. I ordered the 6 oz. sirloin steak with bleu cheese crumbles and bacon bits added, and the mashed potatoes and veggies. The bacon bits could've been eliminated and the steak would've been fine with just the cheese. The steak was cooked just right. Instead of the salad I opted for the Stuffed Peppers soup. The grease could have been skimmed from the top of the soup. There must've been about 1/4" of fat floating on top. My husband ordered the rib eye steak with a salad, and he really enjoyed it. I didn't get my blackberry tea to go, the beef vegetable soup with r was gummy I asked for a baked potato I received mashed potatoes and gravy my hamburger steak was raw.
