During a work trip with another coworker (who also Yelps we learned on our road trip) yippee, since she previously resided in the area I told her that I was researching early in the morning and the two spots she mentioned were the two I scoped out on Yelp. It was pretty busy making it over past noon, but we received immediate seating. The staff were warm and attentive although the place was buzzing. I went with the Christo which was a take on the Monte Cristo, the sandwich was stuffed to the brim and they brought it out nice and hot. I liked the sauce adding in some sweet to the sandwich and I ordered the side lemon poppy salad which I enjoyed! We were recommended by someone to come here for lunch and unfortunately we were pretty disappointed. We came on a Saturday around 2pm, the place barely had anyone there and we still waited at least 30 mins for our food which was just sandwiches and fries. After waiting for that long, they brought out the wrong sandwich for me and we had to wait for them to remake the correct one; mine did not come out until we had been there for 40 mins. The sandwiches themselves were pretty average, I got a tuna salad sandwich and my husband got the Rueben. The best part was the fries, definitely worth the upgrade to get those! However, the upgrade is at least $2 more which made it about $18 for a sandwich and fries which felt pretty pricey for lunch. She was supposed to bring us both a side of ranch but only one of us got that. With the wait time, wrong food delivered (with no discount or anything for the extra wait), price, and average food, I'd say it's closer to 2 stars than 3 stars. I give 3 stars for a place that was okay but had no redeeming qualities about it, and only give 2 stars if there were actually negative things about the experience. I came to visit my hometown and my parents and had to stop by one of my favorite restaurants from when I was in highschool: The Slanted Porch! I opted for the spinach salad and added a grilled chicken breast, it was delicious! The bacon poppyseed dressing was absolutely scrumptious and I truly enjoyed it. My husband opted for the spicy chicken sandwich, and while it was good, he was hoping for a bigger kick, but otherwise it was great. My mom got the Taylor Street sandwich and my dad also got the soup special of the day, both seemed to be enjoyed! Went to Slanted for lunch. Special was the meatloaf sandwich. So that's what I had; with a side of vegetable beef soup. I'll be honest: the meat loaf looked like the meatloaf we used to get in the Navy. Gray/pale looking. Like it was premade and shipped in. It tasted okay....but just okay. And the sandwich came with mayonnaise on it. Really? Mayonnaise on meatloaf? Yeah, no. The vegetable beef soup tasted good, had a ton of veggies in it....and one (maybe two) tiny little pieces of ground beef. Service was excellent; I sat outside because it was a beautiful day. Overall: will I go back? Probably since our lunch choices are so limited in Fallon. Will I be happy about it? Probably not. Will I order any meatloaf whatsoever here again? A 5 star experience! During our recent day trip to Fallon, we made a pit stop at The Slanted Porch for lunch. The weather was perfect for outdoor dining - which is my preference these days. Indoors, the restaurant was well-decorated and social distancing was implemented. Outdoors, the tables were clean, sanitized, and located in a mix of sunny and shady spots. Sometimes when you sit outside, it is easy to be neglected. That was not the case at The Slanted Porch. Our server was friendly, prompt, and familiar with the menu. Both their drinks and food menus had enough variety to satisfy anyone. I ordered a half of the Taylor sandwich and a cup of their Soup of the Day. On the day we visited, the Soup of the Day was curry carrot soup. It was exceptional! Since we were sitting outside, the soup cooled off pretty quickly so it could have been served at a hotter temperature but overall it was lovely - a perfect texture and flavor all around. The sandwich was also good but the soup stole the show. Our party of four also shared a plate of their freshly made fries. The fries were perfectly crisp and salty. Overall we had a delightful meal!
