We ended up here one Friday night after trying to go to dinner at a different restaurant nearby and their wait time being over 1 hour. We sat on the patio and it was perfect weather, the people who live in Cali thought it was chilly and they did have patio heaters on but being from Texas it was wonderful. We got there and they offered us outside sitting, obviously not suitable for 6 people. We refused and asked for the manager. Mr. Garrett showed up and tried to explain to us that they are not making " same day" reservations... Seriously... I made the reservation myself, in the restaurant not online and showed on their system. My name, phone number and everything. The manager literally refused to accommodate us, even insulting me as being "agitated" ... No wonder why ... The place was half empty anyways... Came here for dinner tonight... and man, I was impressed! First impression wasn't the greatest though as we waited for a host for over 5 minutes to be seated. However, the music they play here is fire and definitely kept us entertained throughout our evening... I was actually surprised with how small it was inside, but the vibe and rest of the decor is awesome. Had two TV's playing SNF and the Lakers playoff game, which was great! Stopped in here on a whim since the other restaurant we were headed to didn't really have outdoor seating to accommodate our dog. It was a beautiful day, a bit warm so the outdoor seating misters drew us in not to mention the beautiful decor! Kinda reminds me of New Orleans minus the humidity. I ordered the steak and eggs which was suppose to come with rice and beans, well waitress forgot and when I asked she said oh I don't think it comes with it. I swung by here earlier today to get a quick bite and enjoyed my time here. I was seated by the bar which was well-cleaned and stocked with a variety of wine & spirits. After much deliberation, I settled on a mojito, which the bartender expertly made. It was pretty dang refreshing and paired nicely with my meal, which was the fish ceviche. I liked how generous Espadín is with their fish (snapper in this case). My meal was not only very refreshing, but filled me up. I had a side of their chips and salsa, and while I didn't really dig into it, I liked what little of it I ate. The chips have a Smokey taste to it, which is hard for me to describe, but I liked it. Anyway, I'd definitely go here again. The staff is pretty fairly, and the prices are fair. My mojito was only around $12 which seems to be about standard for this area. I recommend you look elsewhere. This was very disappointing. I think they have many mezcals but they have no list or menu to select from. I tried the queso tacos, they were too soggy to pick up and too chewy to cut up; I guess it was lamb, but it was too salty to know for sure. My wife had two tacos that were salty and overcooked. Had a great time at Espadin with our friends that were visiting from San Diego. I had the carne fajitas which were very good. The portion of the plate was the perfect size - not too much food but not too little either. My wife had the ceviche and thought it was very good. Highly recommend the house and spicy margaritas! We had a group of 18 for my dads 60th. We started out the night waiting for our seats (even though we had reservations) cause they gave one of our tables away. Next we all got seated, we're given no waters, napkins, silverware or drinks for the first 15 min. They finally gave us chips and took our drink orders. Only to find out she only put half of our drink orders in, cause they didn't want to "over load the bar" so half our table waited a good 25 min before they got their drinks. The food came out in stages which is somewhat normal, but the last 5 people didn't get their food till very late, and one of those didn't get them at all. After everyone was done eating, her enchiladas finally came out....and it ended up being wrong. I get when you have a big group stuff happens. But the service was just awful. If one waitress can't handle a big group, then you stick two waitresses on a table. If the bar is backed up...you have a second bartender help out...not just have one girl make drinks for the whole restaurant. Management needs to get their stuff together read more

Not to hot and effortless presentation. Mushroom tacos could use a sauce or cream of some sort. Second and third time around when ordering for drinks or anything else we needed also took time. Your decor/atmosphere is great but this attention should be reflected to your customers and their hot food out on time and or drinks. For a slower day , waiters were running around as it was crazy busy. Why ??? Fix that and if it's cause your low on staff well shoot I hope to see a manager to assist if there's a next time. I ordered the mole chicken dish the mole sauce had no flavor it was like the worst I have had in my life . The mole was acidic no authentic flavor on the chicken. This was so bad that it shouldn't even be on the menu. I am a good cook and I know good authentic Mexican food and this was literally not it . If it's that acidic you should add some Mexican chocolate and the consistency was watery . Sorry great location great drinks but the food is not to par for Old Town . There weren't many people in but the servers seemed overwhelmed. When we finally got our food, my wife couldn't eat the "Mole" chicken so they took it off the check, which was much appreciated. Poor Customer Service. Poor quality of food. After waiting over 5 minutes to be seated, in a non crowded restaurant, I had to ask to be seated. Once we were seated, we sat another 10 minutes before we were acknowledged...and that was after we flagged the waitress down...in a non crowded restaurant. She brought us chips and salsa...which she sat down really hard. She didn't offer or bring us water/drinks. After waiting another 10 minutes, she returns to ask if we wanted something to drink and "food." We ordered. We waited...in a non crowded restaurant. When the food arrived, the server left quickly. My carne asada meat was so burnt that it looked like charcoal crumbs. I flagged down another server because our waitress was no where to be found. That server looked at my food and saw the problem. He took my plate back. TWENTY MINUTES elapsed. No food. She comes back with the bill and proceeds to tell us that she only charged me for one taco (????)...then she brings a to go box that has two carne asada tacos...with more burnt meat. My beer was not cold at all...cool at best and got warmer by the minute....star deduction. The beer was actually meh.. We ordered tacos plate and chicken enchiladas with tomatillo sauce. Tacos were carne asada, al pastor and shredded short rib. Not impressive tacos....flavorless and the meat was tiny pieces and tough. The wife's enchiladas were dry and had the weirdest cheese coating (see picture) it was almost like cheese icing but no flavor. The sides of beans and rice were very skimpy. Have to say this was some of the worst Mexican food ever....seriously. Deduct two stars. Service was excellent, no complaints there. They seemed attentive to us. Add one star back. Didn't check the bathrooms, so I'm sorry to report Jen G they are an unknown and untried...lol Parking is on the street and random. But not bad during the week if you have parallel parking skills. I would give Espadin the sun, the moon, and the stars! It is just that good! Espadin serves up upscale Mexican style cuisine. You can order rice and beans if that's what you were hoping for, but the style is less traditional. Mescal over Tequila is the name of the game here and their selection is extensive! The house margarita is to die for with a hint of orange! The tacos will satisfy with a variety of meat and vegetarian options. I tried the Yucatán chicken on one occasion. It falls off the bone, so tender. When it comes to dessert, they have a pomegranate sorbet that I describe as the best I've ever had. It comes with a shot of Serrano chili! We came here with Vin/Elle after trying out Fazeli Tasting Room in Old Town. Not sure if we had reservations(they handled it), but we got seated at a great table outside, so Kindle the Wonder Australian Shepherd could hang out in his furry awesomeness, and be the adorable beastie that he is. Vin was out walking him, so we ordered cocktails and table guacamole(for four-$17.00)-Fresh Cut Avocados, Onion, Cilantro, Garlic, Lime Juice, Tomatoes, Serrano, Sea Salt, House Fried Chips... while we were waiting. Chips and salsa are complimentary. The three of us ordered Cadillac Margs for $10.00, and they were exceptional-Reposado, Curacao, Demerara, Lime. We all pretty much ordered tacos, so I'll get to my standard format- Ambiance/Cleanliness-Newly furnished space in a previous restaurant location. We ate outside, so I only have a strong impression of that, except that the bar looked CLEAN, well stocked and inviting from our seats. Our table was fine, and staff took great efforts to ensure we were comfortable. 4 stars Service-Wish I could remember our server's name, but he was GREATNESS. Nothing to complain about there, he was warm, professional and went far above expectations. 5 stars Food. It was very good. I had the Chicken tinga taco(Tinga de Pollo, the beef short rib taco(Costilla Corto) and the al pastor pork taco(9 dollars for the trio). They were great, especially with the beans and rice (beans were superb, velvety and well flavored) that was requested. The tacos were crisp fried shells and street taco sized, so if you are SUPER hungry, might not be enough....I was medium hungry, and happy with the portion size, especially since we all had desserts. Don't ask me what they were.....but they were TASTY! Anyway, it was not the BEST Mexican food I have ever eaten, but it came danged close! 4 stars. We found this place after doing a ton of research for my sister's bachelorette party and we were so excited to come here because we love tequila and thought it would be a fun place to celebrate our favorite gal. At 7:45 we checked in and we're advised that they couldn't seat us since it wasn't our time yet. Which was no problem, we checked in and hung out by the entrance and took some pictures with our bride. At 8 our MOH checked back in and said we were all here and ready to sit down. The hostess out front with attitude to spare advise that the party at our table before us were just wrapping up and that it would be just a few moments. Again that was fine with us and we agreed to wait a little longer. Then at 8:15 still nothing we went back up to check in again and were advised that the party before us was taking their time and ordered desert that it was going to be longer. At that point we were getting considerably more frustrated and hungry but we understood that these things happen sometimes. We were reassured again by the hostess who was getting increasingly more full of attitude that it would be just a few more moments. Another 30-40 minutes goes by and parties with no reservation are being seated outside one right after another. Two parties of six are sat with one large table in between them where we very easily could have pushed together to be sat there. At this point all of us we extremely hungry and frustrated that we had spent almost an hour standing outside with no action and zero sense of urgency. Our MOH went back to the hostess stand to ask for an update. The gal had no update and was more concerned with being sassy and socializing inside than to help us. It was then we asked for a manager and Steve sauntered over with a smug smile asking what seemed to be the problem we explained the situation and what had transpired. He gave a half Ass sorry and said he would do his best. After another 10 minutes the party before us left and then the table was slowly cleaned up and a new hostess told Miss Sassy the table was ready she pointed at us and we were ushered to our table. I recently went to Espadin for the first time and was extremely impressed by the attentive staff and quality of both the food and drinks. I was quickly seated by Mikayla who was super helpful and nice enough to recommend that I try the shredded chicken enchiladas (which were amazing, especially with the green salsa). I also was recommended by Jacob at the bar to try the Cucumber margarita. Jacob was super efficient and quickly brought the drink to my table (best margarita I've ever had, seriously).
