Escapte Tactic is at the top of their game when it comes to theming. So much so that they got pieces from an *actual* plane fuselage and used it to make Flight 282, an upper-mid-level difficulty room where you're trying to diffuse a bomb on a flight! I obviously can't say much about the room, but the 2 times that I've been to Escape Tactic now (the other was for King Tut and part of a Yelp event), I've been impressed with their puzzles as well as their theming and environment. Our team didn't get out in time, but our moderator came in and actually let us finish the room, took us about 5 minutes after. Excellent room, great stories, and a super fun time for all. I cannot WAIT to come back and try their Amazon room, or the new ones they have coming up! As The Lady mentioned, the location of Escape Tactic is also great. They have their own parking lot away from the hubbub of LoSo (ick.. I guess we're calling it that now), but you can walk to great bars for some after-game celebrations! read more

This place has such cool rooms! Played 2 so far: King Tut and Flight 282. I won't give too much away, but what I like about this place over others is the friendliness of the staff, the environment created in the rooms, the level of complexity and variety in the puzzles and also that there are multiple rooms/spaces per escape. This is also in a great location, so you and your friends can walk to a variety of breweries to either celebrate your victory or drown in your sorrows. This was a great time! I have been to several escape rooms, however I must say this has been the best place I've been to for an escape room. I went there recently with my family and left with nothing but good things to say even though my family and I lost. We were the last room for the night and yet being so late the employees were noting but helpful and patient. One of the employees to mention was Clay. It was late and everyone was tired, so we may have over abused the hints and though we were relentlessly asking Clay for hints he was nothing but patient and helpful. The room was also set up really nice and executed perfectly. There was every little detail that matched the theme of the room to the tea. I will only come back to this escape room place from now on. We hosted a birthday party for 14 year olds at Escape Tactic last night. What an AWESOME experience. The staff was terrific and the girls had a blast in the Tar Heels vs. Blue Devils room. They were prophetic with the actual ACC game last night- Team Blue Devils for the win! We will definitely be back with friends and family. The rooms are so unique and very well done. I have been to Escape Tatic multiple times and it was amazing; but we went today and our game master was so rude. She was a shorter girl with blue hair. You are allowed unlimited hints and when we would ask for one she would take what felt like forever to respond to us and sometimes she wouldn't even respond. When she would finally respond she would talk to us like we were stupid. When the game was over she didn't walk us through the rest of them room or say anything. She didn't even show us the way out or tell us to have a goodnight. read more

It was my first time doing an escape room and it was an absolute blast! We had a small party of 3 and did the King Tut room. The staff was so friendly and even gave us a quick look at the other rooms which weren't occupied on our way out so we had an idea of what we might want to do next. On a rainy night I enjoyed the chance to experience the only competitive escape room. A basketball themed escape where you are in competition with another team! Escape Tactic is perfectly located near Sugar Creek and OMB - providing you with a place within walking distance to grab a drink before or after your escape! The facility is very large and they offer multiple escape challenging options. The competitive theme was extremely fun though, especially when you are in the same area competing against them! Definitely worth a visit for team building, date night, bachelor/bachelorette parties, or just an outing with some friends. The owner and staff were all very friendly, helpful, and enthusiastic about the game. They weren't just there for a paycheck, but truly enjoyed being there. For being only a few weeks old, the props were pretty beat - letters faded, ripped, etc. That would be my only complaint - as for the puzzles - they were challenging, and while some followed a logically course, others were really obscure and required hints. read more

Flight 262 was a fun room. The staff was welcoming and quickly got us set up. They have several iPads to help with signing everyone in. We sat down on one of the few couches as we waited for the rest of our team to arrive. This room does resemble an aircraft cabin from the seats to the overhead compartments. They do not overdo it with the props, leaving enough space to maneuver. Flight 262 has several rooms you have to navigate through and it is very lock/combination heavy. However, it still was challenging. We were one minute from completing the room. read more

We did the Amazon Survival room. Jason, our game master, was fantastic. The puzzles were logical, but by no means easy. They have elements/puzzles that I haven't seen at other locations. The staff were all very friendly. Parking was convenient and there are several places nearby to grab a beer and a bite to eat when you finish your room. We will definitely be back to do the rest of their rooms. read more

Eh not too happy with my experience here at all. My husband, sister-in-law and I are avid players of escape rooms and have successfully escaped every room we've had. That's why it was a bit of a disappointment when we didn't complete the mine room but not because of our fault. We'd successfully guess and figure out the puzzles and locks but since they were so worn out or they'd mess up an answer nothing would unlock. At one point we were so confused why a lock wasn't working even though we got the correct answer. We finally had to ask the game master for a hint just in case it was wrong but nope, we were correct. It was just the lock that was pretty torn up so they had to come into the room, run out and replace the lock with a working and run back in and place it back in the correct spot, ALL WHILE OUR TIME WAS STILL TICKING!! They never paused it or anything. On top of that other clues weren't working at all. Plus they showed that we used a hint and also they still failed us which is really frustrating and very stupid. The whole room seemed very rushed and not worked through obviously. We were not refunded, we were not offered a free game nothing. I was pissed we still had to pay $100+ for a room that was half assed done. Not sure if they corrected the issues but I mean is it really that hard to go to Walmart and buy new locks? Reset everything and actually put in the correct answers? Total rip off. read more

Sarah, the owner, was so unprofessional. There is no way to tell on the website if you can book a party room or not. I tried to book a birthday party and had to book for 10 to ensure that it would be a private party, but had to email the owner separately to see if a party room was available. After several emails back and forth with the owner she cancelled my reservation without asking. I just want to say that we had a party here back in 2020 and had a fantastic time. Then they had a minimum booking and then you could settle up the day of, depending on how many guest arrived. This was not the case this time. Also, last time you could get adequate information if you called in about the escape room and party room. Again, this was not the case this time. Sarah and this place were such a disappointment this time. I will not be advising anyone to go here. read more

Had a good experience overall. My only takeaway is that they don't book random people with each other. It would've been better with just one private group at a time. They do have the option but it's over $150 to book an entire game for your group which only seems reasonably if all 7-10 people are in a group. Otherwise, each person would be $28. read more

So first off I guess I am now a solo escape room enthusiast since my partner is no longer with me lol. I saw that two others had booked the Flight 282 room online so I thought I'd hop in with them. I arrived 30 minutes early completed the waiver and was told to wait for the other group. 5 minutes after the start time I decided to go up to the desk and the gentleman asked if I knew the group. I said no and he said well I have 3 options: attempt on my own, be put in a room with others, or be refunded. I'm thankful that I had options. I'm adventurous so I said what the heck I'll try it alone. So I am in the room and there's some things that are not quite right. A box wasn't secured. A lock was sitting in a seat. Things like that. One of the game masters came in to try to hide an code that was displayed but discovered it was just broken. The game master was getting help from another game master (I could hear over the intercom) and I asked for a clue/hint and she gave one for something that I already had solved. So she wasn't paying attention at times. I can just tell she wasn't super confident with certain things about the room. No one is perfect but there was a point where I was repeatedly asking for a hint and no response. Nonetheless, I enjoyed myself and made it to the last portion (cockpit) of the room with like 5 or 6 hints. I felt accomplished although I didn't get out. The lighting could've been a bit better in there but overall a good game. Different concepts from what I've seen in other games. They gave me a Free App & 20 Game Play coupon for the troubles so that was a plus. I would return just because I like the hobby. That's all folks. read more

This is my favorite escape room business in Charlotte! The rooms are in the best shape and have the most immersive environments. Also the puzzles are challenging! I have done two rooms so far- the mine room and the rainforest room. Both rooms were well themed but I think the rainforest room had some really neat elements. Both had their own challenges but both were fantastic! The staff are very helpful and down to earth. I would recommend you come here if you are looking for a great activity to do with friends. Flight 282: Decided to try an escape room with extended family, many of whom had never been to an escape room before. Escape Tactic was fabulous! Very elaborate and detailed room and attentive staff. Puzzles were challenging with the unlimited hints allowing you to make the room really as easy or difficult as you wish. Our escape room hadn't been checked. There were flaws in the puzzles leading us to solve one out of sequence. Another flaw in the puzzle lead to a "bomb" prematurely exploding and ending our timer. The staff member who helped us was unsympathetic to the fact that this flaw lead to our premature failure when we had a significant amount of time remaining and would have escaped. I left feeling like my money was wasted. I've done more than a handful of escape rooms prior to this experience. Go to any other business. Every room I've done is comparable and this place was subpar. Edit: My group had NOT been tinkering with the bomb as stated below. My group had been interacting with the table/dashboard above and a group member's sleeve brushed over a wire. The explicit instruction given was not to cut a wire until the group was sure of which wire should be cut. We didn't realize a sleeve brush would violate that rule, nor was it intentional. The owner/employees of this business can make a semantical argument over the warning we were given all they want, but this is a design flaw in the room. It didn't work as it was supposed to and it's bad client service to blame us for that. Also, I'd love to see Scott confirm the day/time I attended. He probably didn't even check the footage. Honestly, the poorest part of this experience is right there in there in the post. Non-empathetic apologies where someone apologizes for your feelings rather than their own mistakes or poor customer service. No one asked for a refund, the situation was just handled poorly by people who don't understand people. read more

Me and my mom have done well over 20 escape rooms in the past several years. We have our favorites and least favorites but this is truly the worst escape room i've been in. We did the Mine Trap room and the story seemed very thrown together. We only got a little blurb from word of mouth before being taken into the room and immediately starting. The room felt very empty and not immersive at all in comparison to even the worst rooms I've done. However my biggest issue is simply a matter of safety. There was exposed wiring everywhere as well as access to the unfinished interior of walls. We were given specific instructions not to pick up rocks in the room yet items we needed were placed under a rock. The room master was not helpful and some puzzles were finicky to say the least. I have never found myself defeated and wanting to leave halfway through an escape room yet that's exactly how I felt. Definitely wouldn't recommend and I hope improvements will be made. read more

We had a Blast! We did the Devils vs Heels Room for our basketball loving dad. While our group didn't escape (we had young children) it was still a great experience. Kayla was our game monitor, very friendly and helpful and offered us our hint without giving away too much. You do not have to have any basketball knowledge to complete the challenge. This was my first experience in any Escape room and next time I'm in NC we have agreed to do the Flight 282, another room they offer. Great place to visit and your group will have so much fun. our group of 10 came here to play the duke vs UNC head-to-head challenge and the room did not disappoint! i recommend this room to large groups because there are *a lot* of puzzles to solve. overall, the experience was good and, if i were local, i would return. there are a bunch of places to eat and hang out in the immediate vicinity. we were able to walk to our next destination which was a nice convenience. free parking was abundant in the back lot. read more

Amazon Survival room was good, the staff, not so much. I really liked the room and it's not the worst room I've ever played. It was very decorative and had some pretty cool puzzles to solve. What gave this review two stars was the staff. Upon entering the building, the staff asked us if were the 8:45 pm room and then they saw my shirt and said "Oh, the enemy!!!" (I was wearing a shirt with another escape room logo.) Is this how you greet a customer? Anyways, we had arrived early and were waiting on two other people who had also booked the room. When they didn't show up the game master decided to take us back to the room. She then explained tips to help us get out of the room in the hallway. Finally, the other two people showed up and she had to explain the rules once again. She then let us into the room but told us once we got to the other side of the room, she would come back and join us for the rest of our game. This was weird and awkward as I much prefer if the game master was not in the room. I am not sure if they had cameras in the first section of the room. We had to yelled out about a certain puzzle since it didn't work like it was supposed to and the game master didn't notice it right away. Maybe, this is why the game master was in the room with us? Sometime after we got to the last room, another game master entered the room and they struck up a conversation. Very unprofessional and disrupting. The game master was also resetting the room as we were playing. This made the game disoriented. At the end of the game, we asked the game master how many hints we asked for. She told us six. Maybe it's because she included the unsolicited hints that we didn't ask for. I probably won't come back unless my family and friends really wanted to play another room. read more

Three of us who had never tried an escape room before went tonight & did the King Tut room. We were paired with a group of four random others (there is an option to book the whole room but we didn't), and collectively we all managed to beat the room. It was challenging but not to the point of giving up. It's evident that a lot of detail and time went into preparing the room as it had more than originally meets the eye. We absolutely loved this place!! We've done 4 rooms here and they are hands down some of the best we've done in Charlotte and the surrounding areas. We were lucky enough to have Jackson as our game master, and as soon as we met him and did our first room, it was a no-brainer to keep coming back!! We even brought some friends from Vermont to Escape Tactic because we knew this would be the BEST first experience we could give them. And Jackson and co did NOT disappoint. We had the best time celebrating my husband's birthday with the Amazon escape room!! The clues were so clever and our game master was exceptional. Maddie was super friendly and did such a great job with the hints. We went in not wanting any hints and although we ended up asking for hints, it was still very challenging and the hints didn't give too much away.
