The place is a fun experience! I'd recommend it to anyone who likes a challenge. They have a laser tag and then something called "The Grid". Although I haven't tried laser tag, I did attempt the grid. It's very much similar to activate except it has 30 rooms with each containing a different point value & different objectives. The goal is for the team containing 2-5 people to reach 1,000 points. The first time I went with my group, we only got 175. It's totally okay for that to happen, I'd highly suggest going with 3-5 players at least for some of the rooms you encounter, but I'm sure if there is only two they compromise for it. Overall is a fun experience, and it is highly suggested that you wear comfortable clothes and some closed toe shoes. This is due to the fact that some of the rooms deal with mental, physical, skill, or a bit of it all. You are being timed from 30, 60, or 90 minutes. I would highly suggest the 90 minute one to ensure you have a chance to visit 85-90% of the rooms. They have hand sanitizers located on some of the walls outside the room as well! I took my husband here for his birthday and it was a BLAST. If you like escape rooms then imagine an escape room x 30... but with more challenges. The host explained the rules perfectly and each room was filled with excitement. Omg this was the best time! I went with my bf and two of our friends. Now, I've been to District 57 a couple of times before but only to chill and play their video games. I've always wanted to try their actual game rooms/challenge rooms. I always assumed they were similar to escape rooms, but they really aren't. So, we went through the intro video and explanation process that helps. After that you're set free to choose whichever room you want to start in. You go from room to room trying to complete each individual challenge. The catch is that you only have a certain amount of time to figure out the object of the room and then complete it correctly. LOL, this is where the fun begins. We had such a good time!!! We laughed a lot and failed a lot! I highly recommend these activities for a group of friends, super fun date night or even a family outing. We all can't stop talking about it and how much fun it was. I can give them 5/5 stars but from my perspective, a non-brain game person, it was a great experience but no thank you. With a group, you are more likely to successfully complete the room challenges. The set-up is excellent and the staff is excellent. Christian assisted us throughout and actually made the experience more pleasant. I take it that the top performers have visited multiple times to take the lead on the all-time board. For current players, we came in second place which was surprising as we failed most of our rooms. My personal recommendation, designate a detailed person to read the instructions in each room. Everyone else must listen and then apply. I noticed this place a long time ago, and always wanted to go. My fiance and I have a book that inspires dates and one was an arcade date. District 57 wasn't really in line with what they intended for the date, but when searching, we looked at the website again and decided we had to go here. We did 90 minutes in the Grid and it was a blast! It's unlike any type of game place we have ever been before. It had a great mix of games that challenged both our minds and our bodies. We finished wishing we had even more time, and will definitely be back to conquer some of the rooms. Some of them are very challenging and you find strategy as you go on. You can always re enter the same room later to try again. For some, we just ran out of time, but are already planning our strategy for the next trip. I will say, you can go with just 2 people, but many of the games are much harder with only 2. To be the most successful at the most games, I'd recommend 3-4 people. We'd definitely still go back with just the two of us though. Let me also add that the price per person for 90 minutes in the Grid is more than reasonable, in my opinion. After the Grid, we had soft pretzels and some beers from the self pour station, and played some of the table top games. We then finished the night playing some of the arcade games that they have. To add, this was such a neat place! It's so unique in so many ways, both with its decor and with its concept. We both said this is going to become a regular place for us. Lastly, the staff was very helpful, especially the last guy we dealt with who helped us with an arcade game that was giving us troubles, and then took a picture of the two of us so we could put it into our date book. Now this place is fun! So many things to do! They have board games, video games and an entertainment area to sit and get food. They also have self pour beer station. They serve mostly snacks and bar type food. We ordered their bbq pizza and it was quite yummy! They also have a fridge with canned cocktails if you prefer. The GRID rooms are quite challenging. They have 30 rooms, EACH about 30 secs to 5 mins to complete. They offer 30min, 60min and 90min increments. I suggest doing the 90mins bc the time goes by fast! Also, it was only the two of us. There are some rooms/puzzles where if you had 4-5 ppl, it would be much easier to solve. All I can say is dress comfortable, they have some physically chalk games as well! They also just started doing a tactical laser tag activity that I can't wait to try the next time I visit! Such a fun place to bring a group or ppl who are visiting and want to experience and interactive game type play! I've been here twice- once for work- related team building and once for a date night. I had a great time on both occasions. There are tons of what I would call puzzle rooms where you have to successfully complete a task to get points. Unlike an escape room (which I don't care for), you're not locked in. Either you solve the room or you don't; you can come back to try again later or just move to a different room. Even though I've been twice, I'm nowhere near completing all of the rooms. Do the 90 min for sure anything less doesn't seem like you could visit all rooms and it seemed that a group of 4 is the perfect number. We went here on a Saturday afternoon. This place has plenty of parking you will have to make a reservation if you want to play the games. When you first walk in they give you a wrist band to open the game doors and a key for the lockers you have to exchange it for your ID. You need to make a team name and they will tell you to use a phone to see which games doors you have passed, failed or need to complete. There are 30 rooms for your team to complete. They had 2 game rooms that were out of order. But that didn't matter. They give you 90 mins to complete all of the rooms. You are able to go back into a room if you didn't pass. You enter the room by tapping the wrist band. There are instructions behind the door to tell you what to do for the game room. They have a light that tells you to start and when you are finished. If you pass the room it turns green if you are out of time or failed the room the light turns red. The games range from pressing buttons, to balancing, to climbing in boxes, to throwing balls kicking balls and so much more. Some games are easy and some are difficulty to figure out. My boyfriend and I are competitive and out of the 28 rooms we were only able to complete 4 rooms. We will be back to try and pass the other rooms. One thing I will say is it's better if you go with a group of about 4-6 people. With just the two of us is was a little difficult to complete some of the game rooms but they were still fun. This place does serve food and drinks. I did appreciate the hand sanitizers all on the walls because you do touch everything in these rooms and having those all along the halls was great. In the rooms there is a spot to hold your phone in the back of the door if you are going to do a lot of moving. If you feel comfortable using the little shelf you can but I didn't think the shelf was very level to put my phone on it. I wore closed toes shoes for this which I was grateful bc there were some things you had to go over and under and having a shoe with support was helpful. I wouldn't come to this place all dolled up. I would come comfortable enough to move around bc you will be standing, walking, kicking, throwing etc. these rooms are very interactive. Some games had us sweating they were intense or we were just trying to win. We will be returning. This place was great we will be back and we will bring more friends for them to experience it. It cost us $30 a person and I felt like it was a reasonable price to have a fun afternoon. We walked in the doors and spoke to a person at the front desk, who walked us through the different games we could play. We made a reservation for The Grid, a series of rooms filled with puzzles and mini challenges meant to test you mentally and/or physically. You could opt for 30min, 60min, or 90min sessions. We went with 90. To kill time, we ordered some small bites, fries with garlic aioli and pretzel with queso dip. Great bites btw! They had canned beer and drinks in the cooler or you could pay as you pour from their "adult libations" open pour area. They had their own version of lazer tag, which they streamed on the big screens for people to watch. They also had a couple tabletop and a few arcade games for people to enjoy as well. The place reminded me of an underground rebels hideout in a sci-fi movie. When we did the Grid games, we went to different rooms and tried to complete the objectives but I have to say, it is not impossible but definitely much harder going as a party of 2. We would do these games again but would have to bring reinforcements. I highly recommend this place to someone due to its unique concept and the chill atmosphere. THIS IS A MUST GO! Was visiting Charlotte for a more low key vacation. I have heard so many good things about this place, and as someone who enjoys challenges/puzzles, this was right up my alley. I would highly recommend paying for the 90 minutes of play time. The time goes by really fast! Overview-- there are 30 rooms ranging from 1-5 mins each. Points range from 25-40 points each. A perfect score is 1000 points. You do not get partial points, so definitely keep this in mind when going through the rooms. You can go back to a room if you have failed it. You get one cell phone per team to track which rooms you cleared/failed/unopened rooms, and one team member wears the wrist band that is the "key" to getting into the room. There is a variety of games, and some of them require physical strength/ability. I would highly recommend coming with a group of 4 if you want to try all of the rooms, since there are a few where you would need 4 people/highly benefit from having 4. I think 3 could be attempted, and 2 people would prevent you from doing certain challenges. There are also different passes that you can buy if you find yourself coming here frequently. District 57 is a pretty interesting joint! I honestly didn't know what to expect when invited to visit this gaming center, but I can say I will visit again! This location is on the south west side of Charlotte in a shopping center you would pass if you weren't looking for it. They have many games onsite, but very well know for the laser tag and "puzzle rooms" where most of the competitions takes place. My group was able to complete 3 of the rooms successfully in 30 minutes.... we felt accomplished! I don't want to share too much as you have to figure the games out on your own, but its like Legends of the Hidden Temple on a smaller scale! They have a great playlist of music throughout; my group had a mini dance party and got a lot of attention! One thing that really made the night was the giant TV where you can play video games on; classic video games. You have the option of playing Sega or Nintendo for all to see. Even before you enter, they are setting the stage for the post-apocalyptic environment that you are about to be immersed into, with audio and lighting playing outside and as you enter. You can play arcade games and eat/drink (AllSorts), play laser tag (Bordertown), and do competitive timed team challenges (Grid). I've done the Grid with friends here a couple times and found it just as fun each time! The Grid is essentially where you can team up with up to 4 people and complete different physical and/or mental challenges in a room for a certain number of points, and accumulate as many points as possible. You can purchase a session for 30, 60, or 90 minutes. There are 30 rooms with different challenges, which could take 1-5 minutes. The catch is, the rooms never tell you how much time a challenge is supposed to take, so each room feels like high stakes. It's refreshing with new people because it tests your teamwork with each person, especially in the physical challenges!! Even if you know how to solve something, it will still probably be difficult :) I'd say if you are going to do the Grid, 1) dress in clothes/shoes that you're comfortable running around & sweating in (it gets hot!) 2) come with more people so you can fill up a team of 4 - more brains & bodies to solve the challenges! I didn't take many photos of the place, but the aesthetic is super unique and they do a great job with the lighting and decor to make it feel post-apocalyptic. Even the hallway going to the bathroom and the bathroom itself give that same feel! Lastly, the customer service is great and they are very friendly and fun. You have an undisclosed amount of time to try and finish each challenge. It was well worth the money. I wish some of the clues were better explained a few times we failed the game almost as soon as we walked in the room. That was probably on us... So I had no idea about this place until one of my in laws told me about it. I swear something bew always pop up everytime I come to Charlotte. Our original plan was to go to Topgolf, but they wanted a ton of money to reserve 2 bays next to each other. Well I'm glad that didn't work out because I would not have went to District 57. Man, I had so much fun. There, you can fill up on beer without bugging a bartender. A few arcade games are available to play too. But my favorite part was doing the mini escape rooms.Some were harder than others, but who cares? I had fun even when I failed a room. Overall this is a nice experience it is very fun but often forces are way too hard. 30 rooms only got two of them. This was not only us, every single person or every single thing that was there within the hour and a half that we were there, did not do more then one or two rooms. Even the person that works there told us that the first time people usually score 0 points. I think it would be a lot more fun if people could do maybe 50% of the rooms or something so It can encourage people to come back. This isn't like any laser tag arena -- you crawl, hide behind walls, go up and down 3 floors, and swiftly walk (no running! lol).
