Great place. I like how the host stayed in character throughout the whole time. Even after leaving the room. He seemed to be the only one there. Again, I was solo in this room (no big deal, YOLO). The game master made it seem like there would be jump scares but there wasn't (I was in The Ventriloquist room). I enjoyed it. Had a good thrill to it. The concepts were really creative. I would say it's a hard room. I was told I was close to finishing (aren't you always though), I used at least 6 clues ! If I had another brain with me we would've definitely had a possibility of escaping. I must say having the tablet and getting clues typed to you is kind of a difficult strategy. I don't prefer that method because sometimes you don't always understand the context of what they're typing. I would read the clues over and over scratching my head . Nonetheless, I would definitely come back. That's all folks. read more

It was definitely fun. Going back for the other two rooms. Their theme is more of horror so if you're not into witches or ghosts and death dolls, do not go. But overall, it was fun. 8/10. read more

The Box Escape Room - Room choices. - Escape Games Near Me - Charlotte, North Carolina

We have done many escape rooms and thought this one would be good with a 4.9 star rating but we did not have a fun experience which I hate but is the truth. I tried calling them multiple times, texting, and leaving a voicemail but received no answers. Some times for rooms required a phone call to book so good thing we didn't have to have those times. We got there on time but just waited in lobby for 10 mins before someone came out, we thought they might have been closed as google says they close at 8pm. We felt rushed into the room and the room says it was a 4/5 difficulty which MAYBE for your first escape room is true but we got done in 30 mins when the room said it had a 30% escape rate. Overall, just felt it was not very well put together and easy. I would recommend for a chill first time escape room but not if you have experience in these or are expecting a very spooky scary room. read more

Great experience and can't wait to come back! The host was awesome and stayed in character all through our experience. read more

This was the first time I've been to a fully themed Escape Room. What I mean by this is that the lobby and hallway leading to the individual rooms had a haunted house/murder mystery theme going on. I very much enjoyed escaping (we did escape). It made our very large group get creative, think, and overall work together to solve all the puzzles and escape. read more

Madelyne was a great Game Master! I did Predestined as a single player and had the best time. I made it out too! I loved the room and the hands on aspects. Madelyne helped me through the game when I needed it in the best ways. I will definitely be coming back to tackle the other rooms in the past, present, and future... read more

The Box Escape Room - Covered the We since I'm alone! - Escape Games Near Me - Charlotte, North Carolina

Went with my friends and did the cold case killers room. It was awesome. We definitely got at least 7 clues as it was really difficult for us because we have only been to one other room. Clues are things you will never expect. Made it out with only 10 minutes to spare. Definitely recommend! read more

This is the second time I have done an escape room with this business. The staff is good and attentive. The rooms are fun and challenging! Highly recommend the cold case file! read more

Went w/a Group of 7. Lots of fun. Attendant was wonderful. Would definitely recommend.

We had a great time. The staff is awesome. The young lady was our attendant, stayed in character, which was such a nice touch. The room was super tough but we made it out. I would definitely recommend. We will be back! read more

Thank you to The Box for a great experience! Booking online was easy! Our group did the Ventriloquist Room and as soon as we came in the staff was in character from the beginning from when we started filling out the waivers til the very end when we took our victory picture! The room was GREAT, very detailed. The riddles were challenging and you can pick your difficulties on either being limited clues or unlimited clues just based on you. They are a new company but they handle everything with great passion which I really admire! Go check them out! read more

The Box Escape Room - Escape Games Near Me - Charlotte, North Carolina

If you like escape rooms that tie their rooms together with story elements*, you should like The Box. I'm sorry we missed his name, but whoever was our game master from 11AM-1PM on January 2, 2018 is one of the best we've ever had at any escape location, too. (My wife and I did all three The Box rooms in a row, and have done over 70 escape rooms in total.) Great hints and attentiveness to exactly what we needed in order to overcome our challenges, though we didn't need a lot of help because the puzzles, while challenging, are well-designed, make sense, and are excellently themed to the rooms. * After doing all the rooms at The Box, check these out too! We did the Predestined challenge here and it was our first experience in a escape room. There were two other choices but we stayed away since they seemed a tad scary/creepy. The host/attendant played into the whole mood and got you mentally prepared for what was to come. You're allotted an hour to solve the puzzle and though it was a rough start at first we found our stride, especially once we got a few tips. I would totally do this again as this was really fun experience for people who love puzzles. read more

How impressive! What a fun, exciting afternoon adventure! We saw an advertisement, and wandered in on a whim. So worth it! The moment you walk in, it's an immersive atmosphere. The host is in character, and it's mysterious from the get go. I loved how cool, complex, and fun the puzzles were. We did the ventriloquist, and it was such a creepy and awesome run! We finished with just enough time and we're so proud! Definitely am excited to come back in the future, and we plan on it! read more

Did a work team building event at The Box and had a great time. The host Andy was fantastic and stayed in character the whole time and really made the whole experience fun for us. He even took group photos for us at the end. We did the ventriloquist room and it was awesome. Just enough spooky but still fun and challenging. Will definitely go back. read more

We came back to The Box excited to try out their newest room, Predestined. It's a favorite! The Box always blows us away with the story in the rooms and this one was a real treat. I won't spoil it, but I will say I recommend doing Cold Case Killer and The Ventriloquist first if you can (some great easter eggs). The room itself has lots to do, both as a group and individually. We would regularly work on different puzzles then come together to collaborate on a major piece. The puzzles are mostly intuitive and the few hints we needed were to remember to use things we had already found. The staff is warm, friendly, and in-character. Andy always makes us feel welcome and we'll be back again in the future when their next room opens :) read more

The Box Escape Room - We're a bunch of escape room enthusiasts that have done hundreds of rooms. The Box is one of our favorite places to visit! - Escape Games Near Me - Charlotte, North Carolina

My family and I (5 of us, ages 21-34) did The Ventriloquist room today as a post-Thanksgiving Day outing. We had done two rooms at Escape Room Live (Georgetown & Alexandria) a couple years before in DC. The location of The Box is a bit in "random Charlotte," rather than downtown, but that we didn't have to look for parking for that reason, which is always nice. I booked the session on their website, which is well-designed and already gets you into the game mood! Also, if you sign up for their newsletter, they'll send you a 10% off promo code! The other escape rooms I was looking at in the area were $25pp, while this one was $27pp. The promo code will even things out, if that makes you feel better about trying out a new company for the first time, but you'll find that they're worth the price. Our session was the second of the day, so when we arrived the lobby was empty except for the host, Andy. He was already in game mode as well, which made things fun. Both rooms have a creepy theme to them, so the lobby followed with slightly dim lighting and music to match. We signed e-waivers on iPads and were oriented quickly. There are small lockers for storing your things if needed. The room was dim as well, but it made sense for the theme and eventually it was lit well enough for us all to see. The room is for up to 7 people and was big enough for 7 people to roam about. It also had matching creepy music, but there were no people popping out or things popping up, which is something we were all very anxious about! As with the two other rooms we had done, we had to solve combo locks, but we didn't solve the puzzles in a linear fashion and we were all able to work on individual puzzles to bring things back together. The room was well-designed to match the theme and the puzzles/riddles were the right amount of challenging - even though we didn't get out in the end. At the end Andy the host showed us how to finish the rest of the room and our gamemaster came out to tell us how we did. He was helpful throughout the experience, paid attention to our progress, and provided us with the two hints we asked for closer to the end. The team at The Box are new, but they are really eager to provide a high-quality and fun experience and are open to critiques to improve. We didn't really have any feedback in that area; we didn't think outside of the box as much as we should have and we'll keep that in mind for when we go back to try the other room! TL;DR: - did the Ventriloquist room - it was creepy, but fun w/o pop-ups - puzzles were the correct amount of challenging and play wasn't linear - room was for up to 7 people, which is appropriate, but is playable for smaller groups as well - host & gamemaster were great! recommend! read more

We had such a good time doing the escape room here! Andy was so great and every detail of the room was well thought out. I was very impressed with how they set it up, and how much fun it was! If I'm ever back in Charlotte I will be back! read more

My boyfriend and I were in town for the weekend and decided to try out the Cold Case Killer room. It was beyond amazing. Very immersive and good puzzles. We came down to the absolute wire before solving it! It was the perfect amount of creepy and the host did an incredible job. Would absolutely go back! read more

We had a really great time at The Box. It was the first time I have done an escape room and the gentleman that greeted us was really great and explained things well. I did not want to be locked in and he said that was okay. The room itself and the act of figuring out the puzzle was really neat and we had a few helpful hints to figure it out. I really look forward to going back and trying a different room! read more

I took my 13 year old sister & her friends to the escape room & we had so much fun! As soon as you step into the building the fun starts! We were greeted by a host who played his part very well. We were on edge the whole time. You can ask for clues if you ever get stuck. I definitely will be returning with my friends. read more

So much fun! This is the 5th escape room I've done throughout many states and this one has a whole different vibe. From the second you walk in, you are enveloped in the story, regardless of what room you choose. The host is perfect...spooky, informative and fun. So worth it! Do this next time you are in Charlotte! read more

Just finished "The cold case killers" escape room. Lots of fun. Shout out to ANDY...he was amazing.

Our group recently completed all 3 of the rooms at The Box and came away very impressed! We have done over a dozen rooms in Charlotte at multiple locations and The Box is definitely one of the best. We received a warm welcome from Andy when we were scheduling and were greeted upon arrival with one of the best intro experiences ever. Our host was friendly, helpful and got us into the mood and theme with a wonderful performance in character. All the rooms were extremely well done thematically and featured great puzzle design, balance, and flow. Even the hint system was well thought out and integrated to be consistent with the themes. You can tell Andy and his team have a real passion for escape rooms and care about each and every guest. We had a fantastic time and were able to escape every room. There are so many rooms in Charlotte, it is hard to know which ones are the best so hopefully, this review will help guide others to The Box as one of the best escape experiences in town. read more

Went here with my boyfriend the other night and we did Ventriloquist. The man who greeted us when we entered was super nice and helpful. The room was more suspenseful than scary, no pop ups. One of the more interesting rooms I have ever done because everything in the rooms serves a purpose. Multiple things can be worked on so don't just feel like you have to work on one puzzle! read more

Was a lot of fun!!! We were surprised by the end result of Cold Case Killer!! Highly recommend! The staff, Andy was super into his role and was good at it! Thanks for the hour of fun!! read more

Love to see new rooms opening up in the area, expecially when they are good. Fun from the time you walk in with their themed check in area. And even though the room we did, the ventriloquist, was only one room, it was super fun and just creepy enough. Will definitely go back. read more

Came here for my husbands Birthday and did the Predestined room. We were 4 people total. It was really creative and had a lot of cool details. It reminded me of a spy movie and a Zelda game combined. The guy who led us to the room was very nice and helped add to the atmosphere by keeping in character. It really made the whole thing more fun! We already plan to go back and do another room next time we visit family in Charlotte. I would highly recommend this place! It's a great family activity, or would be great as a office team building event. read more

This was the best experience at an escape room I've ever had. The escape master played the part SO well! We did the Cold Case Killer room, and it was by far one of the highlights of our trip here to Charlotte! PLEASE check them out! I'd give more stars if I could! read more

My family and I decided to do the Cold Case Killer; I've done a couple Escape Rooms before this, and this one was by far my favorite. It was challenging but not impossible -- it hit just the right balance there (we had only 4 minutes remaining before we escaped!). The rooms were interesting to explore and had more of a story than any other Escape Room I've done. A key part of why the experience was so fun was because of Andy. He greeted us just as we walked in and his presence and character added a lot to the whole experience. After we left, we couldn't stop talking about the room and the experience in general. I highly recommend The Box and the Cold Case Killer! read more

Very fun. Creative staff! I have been to almost every escape room facility in the area and we tried this place out. It was much smaller and low key than others but we were impressed. They did well with the rooms and they were challenging in a good way. Would recommend! read more

My favorite escape room yet in Charlotte! My boyfriend and I did the Cold Case Killer room and it was just the right amount of creepy and difficult without being impossible. We didn't finish all of the puzzles on time but still had a blast! Definitely recommend! read more

We had an amazing time at The Box! From the time you walk in, you get the vibe of the escape you will be completing (eerie music). We really loved our host - he was very much in character throughout the whole process. My first group did "The Ventriloquist" room and it provided to be challenging and it required full group participation and communication. This group finished with 2 minutes left! The second group did the "Cold Case Killer" but did not finish. They still had a blast doing the room. They attributed that working with group of strangers that was part of their team was a bit difficult. So we highly recommend going with a nice size group of your friends or colleagues to truly enjoy the experience. Cannot wait to go back to The Box! read more
