We decided on the king tut one and WOW the level of detail they put into these rooms is incredible. The theming was great throughout the whole experience, and Alex our game master was fun, helpful and made us want to come back and do all of the rest! When my friend and I did an escape room here today we had multiple issues including puzzles being very confusing as well as the person we had did not trigger the puzzles that they have to trigger until we said something. Our game master also would not respond or say anything unless we practically yelled at them almost like they were distracted on a phone or something instead of paying attention to what was going on. We have done other rooms with them before which were good but this was by far a horrible experience with them. We also originally wanted a different room which was unavailable due to technical difficulties but was offered and was what we paid for. They should be checking their rooms every morning to make sure that they are all in working order and if they aren't they should not be available to book. Fun activity! It's hard to find an escape room that will be ok for a kid but still keep the adults interested. We did the "Big Bang Theory" room. Unfortunately we did not defeat it. But we definitely had a good time. They let you bring in your phone which we definitely needed for flashlights. The room is not very bright and apparently our eyes were getting older! read more

I've been going to this place since I moved to Charlotte 1.5 years ago and I have one more escape room left before I've finished everything. The rooms are so unique and some of the puzzles are those that I haven't seen before. Also, each room has multiple rooms in it which makes it more worth it in my opinion. I'm a huge fan of escape rooms and only go with my boyfriend so it's helpful that we pay per person and not per room. My husband and I had a lot of fun playing Amazon Survival and Appalachian Outlaw! The rooms were challenging but not impossible to figure out. Loved that they weren't linear. We asked for a few hints to keep us moving along, and game masters Dalton and Alex were helpful but didn't make it too easy for us either. The rooms are put together well, and we thought the 'water fall' in Amazon was awesome!! We've played over a hundred escape rooms overall, and this was our first time playing at Escape Tactic. We can't wait to come back and play the other rooms! Alex greeted us when we walked in and was great throughout our entire experience. It's always nice when game masters love their jobs and escape rooms in general. We enjoyed talking to him about different places we've been and hearing about some of his favorite rooms as well. I came here while in town visiting family and absolutely loved it! We did the Amazon Survival room and unfortunately did not survive, not even close....but anyhow we're feeling pretty pumped about it regardless lol Rain was an excellent game master and gave us great hints (not that they helped our poor, clueless souls). The room itself was pretty loud so it was a bit tough to hear her from the speaker at times. All in all though, we had a blast. Planned a date night for my husband and I, and decided an escape room was the way to go. We had never been to one, so this was a first for the both of us. Easy location to find, and there are a lot of breweries and bars next door, so you can stop by after a game. Inside is pretty spacious but small. You have to sign a waiver when you walk in and basically wait until it's time. Your group "master" is basically there to explain the story behind the room and what your goal is. They go over any rules they have and answer any and all questions. Then they take you to your room and get the clock going. We did the King's Tut room, and tbh since it was our first time, we were kind of all over the place. It was hard for me to actually think and focus on one thing because then you had a lot of people talking and just going all over the place, which is distracting for me. We were in a group where there was this couple who had done escape rooms before, and I feel like they basically took over everything. At one point, I had found a set of keys, and the guy basically was trying to take them from my hand. When i found an object, he did take it away from me and then start doing his own thing.. I do recommend maybe booking private so that this doesn't happen and maybe just getting a group of your friends and who you know to make this a little bit better of an experience than I had. Either way, knowing what I know now, I will definitely be better prepared for next time. We will be returning back to this place as we liked it for sure. read more

Had a great time at this location. The staff was great and the room was awesome. We chose the Mine Escape, its was fun, kept us thinking the whole time. I highly recommend doing it with at least a group of 4 people, you really need the help and its fun getting immersed in the adventure. They gave us endless clues and it was rather entertaining how they did it. We even had a small audience that clapped when we made it to the end. This was my first trip to an Escape Room. We were a group of eight, ages 14 through 75. We completed the Seal Room for my nephews 14th Birthday. And a good time was had by all! My sister selected the most difficult room, but with our game master... The fabulous Tyler who will be henceforth referred to as "T-Man," guided our group with humor, sensibility and unlimited hints which I was very happy to get. The place is big and immaculate. The reception area is a cozy welcoming spot where they introduce their stellar staff, and then they run down the rules, and set the tone for an hour of active teamwork, thinking outside the box and most of all fun! Also check in on Yelp for an exclusive code which entitles you to an extra 15 minutes to complete the challenge. We were the final tour on this unseasonably, warm Sunday night in early December. My fiancé and I have completed 20+ escape rooms together and love trying them whenever we are in other states. This was our second time visiting Escape Tactic, the first fall of last year and then again this summer. Our first experience was horrible and not enjoyable. We did the mine room and were stuck in the dark for a long time despite having the puzzle solved correctly or almost correctly. The puzzle was so worn we couldn't read it clearly and the game master was of no help. We had issues on other puzzles that when we asked for the hint, the hint was something we already figured out, so it was obvious they weren't really following along with what we were doing. This time we played the Big Bang room which had a lot of good puzzles, but the wear and tear of the room was a big issue again. One part didn't work so our game master had to tell us what the missing piece would have said. Funnily enough, it ended up popping out and working later and the writing on the item was not very legible. When we solved the puzzle there was no hurrah. We opened the final box and found our items and were just like, ok we are done? And just stood around for a tad before we were told congrats and they'd come get us. Maybe have a light turn on or like some tada music? Fun puzzles and themes, nice people, just needs better upkeep in my opinion. read more

We did the new room, Appalachian Outlaw this past weekend. The puzzles were good, and logical. It took a couple of minutes to get into rhythm but after that, it moved along. Part of the issue was the amount of people in the room. The max is ten, and there were three groups, making ten people total. WAY TOO many people for the amount of puzzles. Many times, people were just standing around with nothing to work on. The set was well done, and there was a lot of effort to make the room stand out. It would have been so much better with a cap of 6 people. It certainly would not harmed the success of the team. read more

So much fun. This was a blast--we did the Heels vs. Devils game and loved it. The game was challenging, but not to a point of frustration. You truly have to work as a team to get through the room. They have multiple room options so you're able to find one that really appeals to your group. When you first enter Escape Tactic you are welcomed in a large parlor area that opens into a even larger lobby. The lobby is comfortable with plenty of seating, the lighting is warm and the color scheme is bright and inviting. They have lockers available to leave your stuff while you are in the escape room which is really convenient. Also located in the lobby is a cooler with Golden Cow Creamery ice cream if you need a sweet treat after you're done! The management was incredibly friendly and helpful, they answered any and all questions and openly welcomed any suggestions on how to improve. The customer service alone is a reason to check this place out. I love how they have created positive relationships with local businesses too--that really shows what kind of people the owners are! This is the first time I've done an Escape Room of any type and it was SO MUCH FUN! We did the Heels vs Devils game which put you head to head with your rival team to beat the clock! It was great! You don't have to be a basketball fan to be able to do this, but I'm sure you would love it even more if you were! I'm really excited to see the other games they have to offer, specifically the airplane one they're currently building. They're located in a great area with tons of partnerships with local breweries and bars offering specials. The staff here was so incredibly nice! They were so warm and welcoming and I am always more likely to support a great business with friendly owners and staff. That's exactly what Scott, Sarah, and their team are! I wish I read the reviews before booking the mine room. Some of the locks didn't work, I had solved something early on and nothing was opening.... We moved on thinking it must not be the right solution. The game master told us to go back and try the same lock with more people. You have to physically hold the correct combination in place for the lock to work. There were also a few locks that we solved and didn't know the correct order for the combination. Afterwards we asked how we were supposed to know, and I guess we were just supposed to try all the combinations till it worked. There's also a puzzle that you have to solve which is 100% trial and error. There is no logic involved at all. I've read other reviews where people were eventually just told the solution. If multiple people have to be told the solution, than it's a bad clue. This place was not my favorite. There are much better escape rooms in the area. I have read the reviews but my experience was not like others. I'm sorry but I only give negative reviews whenever I feel something is wrong. I came in to town to visit my brother and after we left the Illusion Museum of Charlotte he suggested this tactical Escape Room in Charlotte. I left a negative Google review because I know what we experienced. We did come before 5:00 Pm in which we now know that is the time that they open. At the time we did not know.The owner stated we were there 90 mins before them opening which is totally false. Your employee never even acknowledged us at the door to at least say that they were closed and that's all we wanted to know. This girl made eye contact with me as she sat on a couch around the corner and never got up as she read her book. All she had to do was let us know that hey we are not open right now and we will be open at 5pm. As we waited on the next Uber to pick us up she then got up looked out the window at us and still never said anything. I understand a lot about safety being a Leo (Law Enforcement Officer) but that was definitely unprofessional. For the owner to tell me "I'm sorry you feel that way" is definitely being dismissive of our situation. I'm sure you won't take any accountability for it but I did want to make sure that you as well as other knew the truth. My friend and I were in town on September 4th for the 21 Pilots concert and wanted something to do during the day. We ended up finding this place and did the Amazon Survival room. It was really fun! We did it with a family of 4 and several girls that all knew each other so we were 3 groups of strangers all thrown together. We somehow still communicated really well and ended up escaping! This escape room is AWESOME! The details of the room were there, the staff was awesome and it was a challenge. But what really made this experience the very best was what the Game Masters did for us. We decided to bring our children today! Ages 11, 9, 8 and 3. The older ones are really into puzzles and we thought it would be a great experience for them. But when we arrived and realized the room had additional players, I'll admit I was concerned. I didn't want to ruin anyone else's time while we used this for a learning experience. The game masters saw my concern and without me even asking, made magic happen. They thankfully convinced the other players to try out another room. This was an amazing escape room. Our game master Christa was AMAZING! You could tell she really loved her job. I loved the way the room was set up, and there were just clever things throughout. I went with a family group of 10 and we did the Amazon room, and everyone enjoyed it. Our youngest person was 13 and he was able to really be involved in the process. The whole family wants to go back, and I can't wait! I will say that parking is in the back of the building and is a bit limited. Escapte Tactic is at the top of their game when it comes to theming. So much so that they got pieces from an *actual* plane fuselage and used it to make Flight 282, an upper-mid-level difficulty room where you're trying to diffuse a bomb on a flight! I obviously can't say much about the room, but the 2 times that I've been to Escape Tactic now (the other was for King Tut and part of a Yelp event), I've been impressed with their puzzles as well as their theming and environment. Our team didn't get out in time, but our moderator came in and actually let us finish the room, took us about 5 minutes after. Excellent room, great stories, and a super fun time for all. I cannot WAIT to come back and try their Amazon room, or the new ones they have coming up! As The Lady mentioned, the location of Escape Tactic is also great. They have their own parking lot away from the hubbub of LoSo (ick.. I guess we're calling it that now), but you can walk to great bars for some after-game celebrations! read more
