Great escape room experience! My friends and I went Friday and did the bank heist. Charlie (IDK if that was his real name) was a great game master and we were very entertained by how he got into character. Bank heist is a really fun room and we escaped. We had such a good time we went again today before heading to the airport to go home. This time we did twisted. Super challenging and we didn't quite make it, but we had a fantastic time. Again, really enjoyed "Charlie" and his colleague getting into character. If you like escape rooms, this location is a must visit! read more

Christian was a wonderful puzzle master - his character acting really set the mood for our Bank Heist. He gave us great help a couple times when needed and stayed out of the way when we were clicking along. The production value on the Bank Heist was really good - it was fun to work as two teams and connect up along the way to finish the room together. Absolutely loved our experience here. This was not our first escape room and it was over the top in all categories from all others we have played. They only do private rooms, so with our group of four we had the room to ourself (didn't know that wasn't normal until I came to CLT haha). We finished the Bank Heist room and loved it. Went for a corporate event. I loved how the employees got into character and were a part of the experience. Also, front desk personnel were very friendly as we waited for the experience to begin. We escaped but it was not easy. We have done over 30+ escape rooms and typically escape with minimal help/clues. Alone was really well done from start to finish. Me and 2 friends went to the Murder Mystery room and we had a really fun time! Christine & Kalei guided us throughout the game, and I loved how immersive it was as they got into character. I drove 2 hours to surprise my wife on her birthday with an escape room and we were refused service or a refund. I called to get all the details of the room before visiting and the lady on the phone suggested the "gone" room. She said I could buy extra tickets and get a private room for the 2 of us and would not be required to wear masks in the room. This was my main question and concern when booking an escape room and nothing is posted on their website about a COVID policy. I fully support a businesses right to operate in any manner they please and they don't have to allow people that haven't been vaccinated. However, If that was mentioned online or over the phone, I would have simply moved on and booked with a different company. (The Box is an amazing escape room). When we arrived, the lady at the counter was very rude and started asking questions about our medical history and wanted information on any vaccines we had received. We respectfully declined that Information, so she asked us to leave and said we would not be getting a refund. I emailed the owner (Dan Harmon) and thought there might be a misunderstanding, in hopes we may be able to enter the room or get a refund. Dan responded by calling me names and went on a rant about how there was a new law requiring people to wear masks and get vaccines. He also rambled on about a virus that traveled through the heat and air ducts of his business and lived on the surfaces within. Never heard of such a thing, but it does sound scary. Folks, these people have an agenda to push and they don't really care about our health or safety, it's all about them, and that's what truly scares me. Don't support these types of business and they will soon be gone. read more

Exit Strategy does escape rooms right! I've done a few of these now, and it makes a big difference when proper thought and quality planning is put into the process. The rooms are very well thought out and fun while also still challenging. The only thing I find strange about this place is the location. It's just odd as you approach and realize that its part of somewhat of an industrial business park. It's especially strange at night when nothing else around is open. However, don't worry, you are in the right place. The space is great for birthday's, guys' nights, ladies nights, office team building, etc. Each room can only accommodate 8 to 10 people, and reservations are required. If you are in a smaller party, you will likely be placed in a room with others. Keep in mind that you have to work together to solve the problem, so don't be the person that finds a clue and doesn't read it aloud or keeps it to yourself. You aren't helping yourself nor the group. Cell phones aren't allowed in the rooms, but they do have lockers to secure your belongings. Follow the rules and be a team player to better the experience for everyone. It's only an hour and you can ask for clues to move the process along. The staff is super friendly and they want to see you "finish" your room. Sign your waiver and have a good time! read more

I'm glad I got to try it and experience this but I'm not sure if this is something I would do again. I came with a party of 6 for Cabin in the Woods. We saw that two other couples join us (they did not know each other) and it was really awkward working with such close quarters with people you don't know. Everyone ended up just working apart instead of together. It would of been nice like the other reviews that we were able to talk for a few mins getting to know each other. The room itself was ok. Not going to go into a lot of details. You are able to use the bathroom or step out if needed. No phones or purses are allowed to go into the room. You have a walkie talkie with your host for hints or any issues. We did actually have two issues that slowed us down. One issue which I won't go into great detail with-we actually did a clue right but there was a malfunction of it not working. So we had to go on the walkie talkie and let them know. Then we had to wait for someone to come in to give us another item for it to actually work. The other issue was that we each got something to use for the room. One person didn't get one because it wasn't in the room and another person's wasn't working. So we had to walkie talkie for that as well. It was just very time consuming. Having to pay $25 a person you would think that everything would be looked over more so issues like that won't happen. We ended up not escaping. We were about 2 clues away from actually escaping. Makes me wonder if we didn't have those issues, would we have passed? You can come back and take $10 off to try to attempt again but I'm just not interested. To me it's just one of those things were you are glad you tried but that's about it. read more

Last night we had a blast at Exit Strategy! There were 17 of us- 9 youth from ages 12-17 and 8 adults. None of us have ever done anything like this so we were all excited and nervous about being locked in a room. We split into two rooms- youth in Murder mystery and adults in Lost in Space. The youth finished with 2 minutes to spare. I heard they had lots of hints, but also had lots of fun. Since I can only speak on the adult side, I will say that our host explained all the rules clearly and efficiently. You are taken to your room, explained what things are not for consumption (locked outlets) and given a walkie talkie for hints or emergencies. And your host watches the whole time via camera. They will give hints when asked (we needed 2. Not too bad!) and will let you out and back in if you need to use the restroom, which I recommend you do before you head into the room. We finished with 9 minutes remaining on the clock. Whew! The room was challenging and loads of fun. Luckily it was only our group in the room. I could see where it might be more difficult of you were put with folks you didn't know. But, really, it wouldn't matter to me. I would still do it again. We are planning an adult night out with dinner and Exit Strategy- Cabin in the Woods! Looking forward to it! SO much fun!! read more

I came here for my birthday wih a group of my friends. I was really excited to do this. I selected Cabin in the Woods because it was the only slot left open that late at night. I really wanted bank heist, so I'll save that one for next time. I must admit the actual room wasn't what I imagined it to be. I thought the room was going to be way more creepier than what it was and I thought there was going to be more props in the room. Like many of my fellow Yelpers have said, the Cabin in the Woods room was hard to solve. I think what made it difficult is that the clues didnt really connect, so we kept having to ask for help. You would find one clue but it didn't really direct you to finding another clue. Needless to say, we didn't escape the room. I will go back to give it another shot and try a different room. We tried our very first escape room ever here with another group of complete strangers. It was my hubby, brother, and I and a family of four for Murder Mystery. We wanted something challenging, but not TOO creepy because I was scared of doing something as thrilling as some of their other options like Cabin in the Woods. I won't go into details because I don't want to spoil anything for others, but the room made an impression on us. I didn't expect it to be so thoughtfully constructed and how interactive the entire place was for the story we were playing along in. It really helped you get into it and I loved that I could use my imagination, but in a more grown-up way where you get to solve puzzles and figure out clues. I was sus at first because I didn't think I would be able to do much to help, but it turns out that EVERYONE has something they can contribute and it's always a surprise to see what kind of silly things each of us can bring to the table and not realize it till you're in a situation that calls for trivial skills of the like. We had so much fun that we made a tradition of bringing visiting friends and family to play here. It's a little over an hour drive from our place in Winston, but so worth the impression and bonding you experience you get out of it. Not to mention, plenty of fun to recount the memories! read more

I finally went to one of these last night as a last minute decision with a friend. WOW! What an amazing experience!!!! I had a blast. We chose the Gone room, which was creepy AF! The puzzles were challenging but very inventive and imaginative. I felt fully immersed in the ambiance and the experience. So much that at times I forgot I was just playing a game and was truly engaged in my surroundings as reality. The immense satisfaction you get from solving a puzzle and moving on is probably one of the best parts of the expeirence. Sadly, the room beat us as one of the puzzles took us too long to figure out. Best Escape Room experience ever! My girlfriend's daughters are big fans of escape rooms, they have done dozens all across the country. I have been to four different ones with my girlfriend and my son and his girlfriend had never been to one but were dying to try it out so... I decided to surprise my girlfriend by proposing during an escape room with all of our kids there. I told the kids and they were all on-board right out of the gate. I called several of the local escape rooms and was met by responses like, "Sorry, we can't do that..." or "I guess that will be all right but you'll have to do it in the lobby because you can't take pictures in the room" or, most often, "I will have my manager call you back" and then nothing. Then I called Exit Strategy South and they were so excited by the idea! They had done engagements before and had wonderful ideas on how to make the occasion special. There staff met with me prior to the event and showed me the room we'd be escaping room and we discussed where we could stash the ring to pop the question. Just super service all the way... The morning of the event my son delivered the ring and the staff placed it in the room. Everything went off without and hitch! My girlfriend was surprised, all the kids got to be there and barely cried at how sweet the whole experience was. Cannot wait to try out the other rooms after the wedding. read more
